The space is full of natural light and spa music which makes you relax immediately. Michelle also offered me tea while I wait for Erin to be done with another client. They also have an office pup who is super chill and cute. Note that you have to take off your shoes when you enter. The treatment consists of 5 mins of Erin informing me what to expect and answer any questions (it's my first time), and about 5 mins of Erin applying the acupuncture needles. The rest of the time, I lay on the heated bed and let the needles do the work. It takes a few minutes to take effect but I was amazed at how my body automatically relaxed. I did not have to mentally/consciously tell my body to relax, it just did. It's certainly a great experience and introduction to acupuncture! FYI the mini session is priced at $75.

A little while later, I heard back from their billing dept who advised that my insurance would not cover reproductive care. I was somewhat familiar with this and not too surprised, but as I was also looking for an OB, I asked if I could still see the doctor on a strictly ONGYN basis. I scheduled a virtual consultation with the doctor and we discussed this. I had subsequent conversations with billing and it was determined that I'd be able to obtain some limited services at URA, but that no services would be provided that would be coded as reproductive care. This was perfectly acceptable to me. Fast forward several months and I start receiving bills in the mail in the amount of $605. I start getting calls from collections agencies and let them know that I dispute this amount as invalid and that I did not receive any reproductive care and only received covered obgyn services. Fast forward again to the collections account being reported to credit agencies. Wtf?? After so many conversations with their office about what would be covered and what wouldn't, I'm just so annoyed. I'm not in medical billing, so I trusted the doctor and their office to only schedule me for covered services, as the office assured me multiple times. I regret ever visiting URA and wouldn't recommend it.

I looked at a few different clinics but out of all of the clinics I toured, CUFC was the place I felt most comfortable. My doctor, Lauren Bishop, from our first interaction displayed tremendous empathy, consideration, sensitivity, and pragmatism. I knew that I would be able to have a child with the help of doctors and specialists at CUFC. My road to getting enough embryos for a transfer was long and unforgiving. When I suffered set-backs, Dr. Bishop and the care team provided me with the space to grieve while always being ready to reengage. When I decided to do an FET, I went in with very low expectations- the story I told myself was that my egg were "poor quality" and thus I shouldn't hope for one of my embryos to implant in my uterus. Dr. Bishop had faith and encouraged me to lean into the possibility. When I got my beta results, I was delighted; I had already had symptoms of pregnancy so receiving that verification that I was indeed pregnant, really was a sweet treat. I have now graduated from CUFC with my little embryo. We will be transitioning to our OB/midwife now. I will miss the team at CUFC- the effecient check-in's; being in-and-out of morning monitoring in 15 minutes flat; the ability to email my doctor/nurse/care coordinator; the constant flow of useful information about my labs and meds. While I love my midwife/OB's practice, I will deeply miss the care of CUFC.

Results come in on MyChart, but apparently I'm not supposed to make appointments via their own app because I've now had two appointments cancelled on me the day of (for different reasons, and the first one that was cancelled was done so rudely and abruptly). I am used to going to NYU Langone (also uses MyChart) and have had pretty seamless experience in making appointments, getting results, and having follow up on results. In the couple months I've been going to JCMC Womens' Health Center, the experience has been lacking on the customer service end and in the convenience of making appointments and getting test results. I've already felt dismissed by the nurses ? or medical assistants? twice now. Sharing this frustrating experience as a red flag and warning.

Unfortunately, due to their poor receptionists they lost a potential patient because of careless mistakes. I called on this past Monday to inquire if they were accepting new clients and accepted my new New York insurance. Wanita, who I spoke to said Dr. Goncharov did not, and I could see one of the nurses Marina instead who is in the office on Fridays in Manhattan. She scheduled me in for the same week on Friday. She needed to validate my insurance number (which I did not have at the time), and asked me to call back the next day. The following day, I called the office with the information and a different woman I spoke to had no idea who I was and had no idea about my appointment on Friday. First red flag. So I rebooked the appointment for the same time, and confirmed that they accepted the insurance. She said yes. This morning (Friday) hours before my appointment, I receive a phone call from Wanita asking for my insurance phone number because she has never seen the insurance before and was not sure if they accepted it after both of them confirmed they did. Is it that difficult to perform a Google search to contact them? Once again, I did not have the card on me and had to call her back with the telephone number, and wait for her to call me back 2 hours before the appointment to confirm if I could even go there. She said that Marina only took it (yes, we already established this and thats why the appointment was with her), but she wouldn't be in the office today. WTF? I had to cancel all of the arrangements I made to come into the office after I had already took the afternoon off of work to come in. Oh, and it gets worse. Wanita said that Marina is sometimes in the office on Fridays, but really had no idea if she would be there the following week or any future Friday in fact. It is a yes or no question after you look at the doctor's calendar. Seriously? Red flag after red flag, I finally said "I'll go somewhere else". It shouldn't take six phone calls to schedule an appointment. If they can't do that right, I'm not really sure if I'd want to trust them with my billing or body.
