History
Established in 2015.
I have been advocating for parents to get educated on how to predict, prevent and react to child sexual abuse since my daughter was molested by her teacher in 2007. Since she was 2 years old I taught her how to speak up if touched inappropriately and she did just that, stopping a teacher who had been molesting his second and third graders for 7 years. Now I want to teach everyone so we can stop this epidemic.
Meet the Business Owner: Christy H.
My own child sexual abuse served as the catalyst for me to teach my daughter from the time she was born to speak up if she was touched inappropriately. However, I had not been educated on what grooming behaviors looked like. In 2007, my daughter was molested by her third-grade teacher and did exactly what I taught her. Knowing what I know now, all of the grooming signs were there.
In the eight years that followed, I became my daughter's best advocate and navigated a complex criminal case, a lengthy civil trial against the school district for negligence, and two subsequent appeals (at which we prevailed, and which resulted in a precedent-setting, published opinion by the California Court of Appeal). I emerged from the experience determined to make a measurable impact in reducing child abuse and sexual assault through training, speaking up, and taking action on behalf of victims and their families.
