I have been recommending this class to all of my friends who have little ones! My son started this class when he was 12-months-old, and it was one of the first social things he was able to do after COVID cases started to slow down. I am so glad we found this class. My son completed all three sessions, as well as the storybook 4 week class during the summer. At 20-months-old, he can sign about 47 words, and about half of those are words he signs regularly (i.e. more, food, water, milk, diaper) and the other half are words he signs occasionally (i.e. crocodile, owl, flower, stars). Not only did this class help with socializing (for both of us!) but I noticed that once he started signing, he also started to speak some more as well, and is now up to about 25 words verbally. And now that my son is almost 2-years-old and becoming more "moody," signing has helped to decrease a lot of the frustration he feels since he is able to communicate what he needs and I can pick up on it faster than had we not taken this class. For instance, one day he was inconsolable and finally signed "pain" and pointed at his foot, and sure enough, there was a cut underneath his toe. I was able to take care of it and soothe him, which helped the crying to stop. We completed all of our classes outdoors at Morely Field in North Park which our family really enjoyed, but I believe the classes will eventually transition back indoors. If you are wondering if this class is for you and your baby, wonder no more. Monta's Baby Sign Language class is a great investment of your time and money, and being able to communicate more with your baby is absolutely priceless. The nightingale music that is offered here is great. The schedule is pretty decent for a toddlers schedule, not so great for a baby's schedule but reasonable that you can make it work. The baby sign language schedule that is offered here is terrible. Even after asking Monta about doing classes earlier that fit an infants schedule her response was, "I've been doing this for 20 years. Baby's generally nap at 9am", yes that's true Monta but then that means they nap again at 1pm after lunch. So a baby sign language class that starts at 12:30pm is a terrible awful schedule for an infant. You need the class to start at 10:30 or 11am for it to fit a baby's schedule not 'your' schedule. Her schedule times are 11:30am and 12:30pm for babies and toddlers up to 1.5 years. Both times are absolutely terrible times for that age range. So, I've come to the conclusion that the schedule fit her times of when she wants to teach not the target audience. It's a shame we'd enjoyed doing these sessions but not at the expense of messing up my kids nap schedule. All babies and Toddlers should have had lunch and be down for a nap by 12:30/1pm. read more

Loved, loved, loved her classes for what my daughter and I learned. We started at about 17/18 mths and did both sessions, and ended at 21 mths. Monta teaches useful, everyday signs. We use signs all day long to communicate. I feel it has helped me know what she wants cuz she certainly does know what she wants. I always wanted to use baby sign w my child when I had one. And I can now say I did/do and learned effortlessly only because of these classes. I like that as she is learning to talk, she signs the word too and so I know what she is saying. Monta and her baby sign program are truly one of a kind! I first started my oldest daughter here when she was just 7 months old. She picked up signing fairly quickly and right on track with what Monta explains and teaches. Monta's classes are fun, safe, and educational. Her studio is always clean and she makes sure the toys the babies play with are sanitized every session. Monta has been teaching sign for a long time and it shows. She is so knowledgeable on how babies respond to sign, how to teach them, when to teach them and how to have fun with it all. She has a warm heart and smile and is always extremely welcoming! I signed up my baby prior to the pandemic ensuing and unfortunately only got to attend one class but the situation was handled with grace and we will definitely return when allowed. My husband and I attended two series of Baby Sign Language classes with our child, starting from when she was 10 months old, as well as a single Nurturing Pathways class. The studio, is bright, airy and beautifully decorated. Our daughter loved pointing out the different animals that she could see on the walls. There is sufficient space for bags and things by the door, although no room for strollers. There is a baby change table in the secure restroom within the complex. There is also a small display of things available for purchase: children's sign language DVDs, flash cards and books. Parking is anywhere you can find on any street close by. I have been taking my niece to the music class Wednesday mornings. Ms. Katie has a beautiful voice and interacts well with all the kids. The kids get to play with a variety of instruments and have a big open space to run around. Parking can be difficult but the class is very much worth searching for a spot. read more

I cannot speak enough praise about how much the baby sign language class impacted mine and my husband's relationship with our baby. If there could be one piece of advice we impart onto other parents, it would be to take Monta's class. We started our son at 6.5 months and surely enough he began signing at 9 months and after month 11, it picked up to a new sign every couple days. He has over 50 signs now at 16 months so we're completely amazed at how much babies can communicate at such an early age. The class fosters both verbal and non verbal communication. Monta demonstrates how to engage and motivate our babies with the objects that interests them. She not only helped teach our baby a way to communicate with us, but she also had wonderful understanding of how we as parents can empathize with our babies. Combining those two elements, we have developed a responsive, trusting and fun relationship with our son. Not only is there less frustration from both the baby's perspective and from the parents, but it has been so enriching. We're simply amazed with the sheer number of signs that they can communicate at 9 months and beyond. read more

Met Monta at the library and she is amazing. We have been keeping up with her songs, book, and information as always and our little guy is signing so much !! Two days ago he signed "all done, bath, clean" and tonight he signed "more, milk, please" ! He is understanding combinations! He is 15 months and 3 days old today I love that he is communicating and understanding so much. It keeps the tears away and we can bond because we can understand each other. This studio offers so many classes including sign language, breastfeeding, introduction to solids, pilates. I wish I would have known of this place when my baby was very young so we would have joined some of the classes then. My son loves the sign language class. The location is great although parking can be a challenge. I say the location is great because there is some much to do around the area (shopping for baby at So Childish, restaurants, etc...). Monta has been very nice to us and she is a good teacher. My son loves this class. read more

We are taking Mateo to the sign language classes and after 2 weeks he has started signing different words. Granted he is a year old right now but its exciting to learn different signing with other parents there and seeing the interaction with other kids. The instructors are great because its not too long where he gets bored or loses interest. The songs and intructions with tips really help keep urself trying to sign every chance u get. read more

Started this class with Monte with my daughter at 8 months old and now my little "Super Baby" is signing all the time and she is only 10 months old. She signs dog (now she and is actually says the word!), tree, leaf, waves "Hi" and "Bye", finished, she points at things that she wants, but I always ask while signing it and she response with a nod or head shake. I am not sure if she is going to ever tell me "milk" or "water"... However the outside signs are so fun. She did rain, grass, butterfly and flower and she always signs "Baby" and "Signing Time"! WOW! This kid has learned so much! In just a short amount of time. Thank you for your help and we love the flash cards and books and the DVDs are an obvious hit. My daughter and I loved the baby sign class at Baby Garten and she continues to sign non-stop. Last night my daughter was pretending I was a baby and putting me to sleep. She started to sign black and point to the light switch. It took me a few minutes but I finally figured out she was using black to sign that she wanted me to make it dark in the room and turn off the light. I almost started to cry. I don't know that I would have ever figured out how to interpret her made up signs if it was not for the classes support. My daughter is 22 months and in the last few weeks she is really just starting to say more the mama. I honestly do not know what our family would have done without sign class. She has so many signs, and she even regularly makes up her own to express her self. I would say she has at least as many signs as the doctor says she should have in verbal words. Sign has made it possible for us to communicate to each other. It has given her away to express her wants and needs, and, as I have learned in speech therapy, has helped her verbal language development as well. This place is heaven sent. The free mother's breast feeding circle was the first place I took my baby. Robin, the lactation consultant in an incredible person. She volunteers her time there answering questions. She also also has her office at the SD Breast feeding center. Genuinely nice people. I have taken several workshops and they have all been helpful. Plus you get to meet amazing moms and babies. What more can you ask for?. read more

My husband and I have brought our daughter here for a couple of toddler music classes. We all absolutely love it and look forward to it. Chelsea is wonderful with our little one--- especially when all the toddlers are being wild. Each class goes with different holiday themes.
