Dr. Laurie Stephens disregards trauma. Dangerous at worst and unhelpful at best. Her advice is biased.

Staff at Dream Big are incredible, very personable, and create great rapport with both the parents and the children that they have worked with. My son is EXCITED to go to school there every day. And it warms my heart seeing him give all the staff member's huge smiles, even if they don't directly work with him. His social skills, coping tools, and receptive understanding has improved greatly in just the one year that he has been enrolled, and we are looking forward to seeing his continued growth in this next year.

It's so clean inside with no shoe policy and the toys are clean. I've been to other places where the toys are filthy and look as though they never wipe them down. This place is the opposite. The day we went they also had the monrovia fire truck come outside and give the kids a demonstration of the uniform, air tank, and let the kids operate a mini fire hose. It was amazing. My son didn't want to leave. Make sure you feed your kid first or bring lunch because your kid will not want to leave. You can bring a sack lunch and there's a designated room to feed your kid and eat. Wish I could come back but only open weekdays for public and weekends is usually for parties.

Melissa Ahamad, (SLPA) started working with my son when he was at 15 months old my son cannot say anything other than Mama and Papa. Fastforward to today, he is now 2years old and has over 80 words though not perfectly pronounced but still a big big improvement from how he was before. We started with sign languages then to minimal words. He hits himself when he cannot express his emotions, so when he started to use and understand the word NO, hitting was gone. It's such a relief. Kids express themselves better through language. At the end of each session, Melissa would give me recommendations for me to continue what she's doing with my son. Goals are set at each period and we try to meet them, e.g. follow steps, identify 5 objects, action words etc. At 2 years old, NLARC added another therapy for my son which is Child Development Services/ Infant Stimulation Therapy. Ernesto is my son's therapist for this service. He is also great! I have lots of questions regarding my son's behavior and development and he answers them patiently and explain everything to me, he even brought a book as reference for our topic. Their Supervisor Dara is also awesome! She evaluates my son's progress and works/plays with him well even though she's technically a stranger for him cos he has only seen him twice but she got my son to play with him unlike the other evaluator who would just stop trying just because he's shy. The office is so easy to contact, whenever I ask for paperwork they would easily send it to me! I love Optima Family Services, Keep it up! You help lots of kids and families.

From the very beginning, Mark has been more than just an advocate -- he has been a true ally and guiding light through one of the most challenging journeys we've faced. Mark's deep understanding of special education law and the complexities of the school district system has been nothing short of life-changing for our family. He has stood firmly by our side, ensuring that our son's needs were not overlooked or minimized. When the district tried to cut essential services, Mark skillfully and compassionately stepped in, using his expertise to protect our child's rights. What truly sets Mark apart is his ability to see through the misleading language and tactics often used by districts to deny or delay services. He doesn't just respond -- he educates and empowers families like ours to understand the process and stand strong. Mark Woodsmall is, quite simply, a Godsend. His integrity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to children with special needs make him a rare and remarkable advocate. Because of his efforts, our son continues to receive the support he needs to thrive -- and for that, we will be forever grateful.

I've used them for about 2 years, on and off, and unfortunately, it's hard to find good special needs therapy organizations in Los Angeles. I have Anthem Blue Cross so I've used a couple other organizations but ALP tends to have better staff compared to others, but unfortunately, they tend not to stay for whatever reason, and we're stuck with another trainer, coach every 6-8 months. Although Dr. Gina Chang is listed as the president of ALP, she doesn't have any interaction with patients. Most interactions are with staff via phone or "trainers". The current one we have, Jennifer, has been great and I hope she stays with the company but she has been our 6th one in over 2 year period.

All the good Therapist end up quitting the company due to how the schedule their staff. And the ones they hire to replace them have no experience and probably very minimal training. When I addressed my concerns about my son's current therapist with the BCBA, I was just brushed off and Informed that they would not reassign my son to a different therapist who has more experience. They seem to hire just anyone. Also when we initially started with the company, they were forcing on us to do 40 hours a week when he initially was only approved for 25 hours. They seemed like they only want to bill my insurance and just send any random person to be with my son. We had also informed our developmental pediatrician about this and he agreed that they are only looking to bill the insurance. We have had great therapist during our time with ALP But all have either left the company or were removed from my son's case due to their own scheduling conflicts. At the end of they day, they do not care about your child's development but their own bottom line. To any parent reading this, please do your research and avoid ALP. Just because they respond to your providers inquiry fast doesn't mean they are good. I only wish there were more regulations and ways to report companies like ALP.
