He was stuck at a 3rd grade reading level since he was in about 3rd grade. It is amazing and a true miracle. May god bless Mr and Mrs Blaha all the days of their lives.

From the owner: Since 2005 our graduates have gained an average of 2-5 grade levels in as little as 30-60 hours of…read moreinstruction! The Academic Associates Reading Program produces consistent and outstanding results for those wishing to excel, as well as those having problems with reading. It empowers students to decode the 1,000,000+ words in English. Most reading difficulties can be traced back to insufficient decoding skills. If a child cannot decode the words, he or she cannot read. If it takes considerable effort to decode, then fluency and comprehension suffer. We give these students all the word attack skills they need to become effective and competent readers. Students will be guided through a complete course in reading. They will progress step by step through all the levels necessary to read competently and comprehend on a level at least as high as their appropriate school grade level. The program has two components. The first teaches students to decode written words with fluency, and the second develops comprehension and proper reading habits. Part two is begun while part one is in progress. Children, teens, and adults are taught as individuals with one-on-one instruction by patient, sympathetic Reading Instruction Specialists in a warm homelike environment. They are never blamed or embarrassed for their reading difficulties. Students blossom as old barriers and limitations crumble. Self-confidence escalates rapidly as their abilities increase.

I took a chance and enrolled my oldest in ALA 2 years ago. I went through many challenges with the…read morepublic school system. She suffered from ADHD and was not being challenged enough with the public schools. We asked repeatedly for her to be tested for the gifted math program. When she moved to ALA in 5th grade, they immediately identified that she needed to be tested. She was placed in Middle school math and excelled. The individual attention each student gets really helped her focus. Most if not all the teachers have experience with special education needs whether is personal or professional. After the first school year at ALA, I moved my other child from Camden Public Schools to ALA. Since Kindergarten (currently in 3rd) I struggled to get them to identify what I immediately saw and to implement a IEP. I ended up having to go outside the system when she was in 1st grade to have her tested because they said it would be another year. I'm glad I did because they wanted to hold her back and of course we fought it since we identified the issue. They attempted to do it in Second but because I identified the lack of service being provided by the county and also having her in GA Cyber Academy for a semester we realized she was better in a smaller setting and one on one which the county could not provide. I moved her to ALA this year and she has caught up and now a straight A student. Her reading and math has improved so much. The proof is in how parents and school works together to help a child succeed. Some may find the way they teach different from traditional public school SPED, but they have taken several continuing education classes on helping the children especially dyslexia which the public system will not accommodate . The learning scale is based on where the student excels or falls below. So they may be in a middle school math but a 3rd grade reading level in the 6th grade. The child would be placed in the math level they excel in and then placed in a group where their reading level is worked on. When the child begins to show improvement they are tested to see if they could handle the current grade level. They use the same testing system as the public school to find the level. Their actual Special Education Teacher Mr. Clark is amazing. He is patience of a saint so to say when it comes to helping.

What an absolute mess of a school. My student attended for 1 year in this school and they…read morecompletely lied to my face just to get my money. They taught my student absolutely NOTHING and accused my student of things that he didn't do. When I asked for the director of the school to bring up the video evidence to their claim they clearly told me that it wasn't their job and that I could sit down for however long it took and review the tape to see if my student did what they are alleging him to do. They didn't provide any accommodations to my student's IEP/ISP and when they got tired or had to many kids in the school that day, they called me to come get my son and telling me that they were sick and tired of dealing with all the kids in the school. This school has been advertised to be a school of "excellence for special education" and not one teacher in there is accredited as a special education teacher. There was one teacher that was actively working towards their special education specialty degree but he was "let go" according to the director in an email that she mass sent to the parents of the school due to he wasn't the best fit for them. How?! He was a teacher there for a long time before they decided this. There is more that has transpired to persuade me to leave this review and this isn't the only reason why I am leaving this review to the public for other potential family's to review. Now all of a sudden I am now being harassed by this school on every instance and aspect. Please do heavy research when considering this school for enrollment of your student.
