My parents had their investments with this group. When they passed I was advised I had to open an…read moreaccount to transfer my share of their account in to. It sounded as though this transaction would happen within that day. I attempted to reach Rodney Jacobs by phone several times but he never took or returned my calls or emails. I had friendly conversations with the office staff and followed up after a day, then after the weekend, then after a week, and then I gave it another two weeks (total of 3 weeks). I still could not get any response from Rodney. I then sent him a text and left him a voicemail that as a client I expected to receive return calls and I stated I was going to report him to his corporate office. Crickets. Then I received a letter from Rodney stating they had transferred my account to corporate because I was rude to him and his team. They set up my account to transfer funds in to incorrectly. They accidentally transferred all of my parents funds in to my brother's (trustee) during a "trial to make sure they were "doing things right" and that had to be corrected before anything could be done. My other brother (not the trustee brother) were amazed our parents would do business with someone like this. They did not even know how to handle the disbursement of trust funds. Whether the agency had limited experience or not, Ameriprise should have been able to assist him to help him look somewhat professional. In a matter of almost a month, I received two responses from Rodney. One was a text saying he did not use his cell phone for business and to call and make an appointment, which I attempted to do. The second was the letter saying they transferred my account to corporate. I guess at that point I was considered a difficult person because I expected to get a response from someone who stood to have several thousand dollars of mine transferred into accounts at his agency? My brother informed me Rodney told him I was the only person he could ever recall passing off to be handled by their corporate people. Because I got frustrated after weeks of no responses to my requests? The letter from Rodney two months after he set up my account incorrectly for the transfer states, "We received your messages on the concerns you have over receiving funds from your parent's trust..." Yet never once did they respond to explain what was being done other than to say, "I wanted to reach out to you proactively - proactive would be returning even one phone call - and let you know we will be putting paperwork together to move your account to an advisor with our home office in Minneapolis that WILL BE ABLE TO SERVE YOU in answering questions you might have. My non-trustee brother never received any return calls from Rodney either. I have a copy of a check I requested where they had set up my transfer in to account wrong in my file folder. I was advised by my trustee brother my account was set up wrong when I shared Ameriprise was sending me my disbursement check. I called Amerprise only to find out they put a stop payment on my check. No one ever contacted me to let me know my check I was receiving was no good. So they can say I was difficult because I was trying to get answers after weeks of polite attempts. I love how people try to throw things back on you due to their total inaction I would bury my money in a jar in my backyard before I would ever do business with someone this non-responsive. And then to think this guy and his team had no idea how to execute the disbursement of trust funds? So if you feel the need to invest with Ameriprise, the people I spoke to on the phone at Ameriprise corporate were quite helpful. For the record, I set up the account correctly on the phone with the corporate office in about 20 minutes. Best wishes.

During the period of time I had my investments with Rodney Jacobs the equity markets had a huge rally but yet during the same time period most of my equities with Rodney Jacobs were negative. Also, very poor diversification which put me at great risk. Several very critical emails were not responded to which added to the problem. When I transferred my account to Edward Jones they were absolutely shocked with the investments and most of the investments would not transfer since it violated Edward Jones investment and diversification guidelines (and for very good reason).
