From the ER staff (doctors, nurses, etc.), to the teams of doctors from Vacular, Rheumatology, etc. to the lab people and folks in Ultrasound and CT scans treated me with dignity and respect and were very kind. I was exceptionally please with Dr. Hannah Jarvis (hospitalist) - truly an outstanding individual who clearly explained what was going on with me in terminology I could understand. Nurse Jo on Hannah House 3rd floor was also terrific (as were the other staff on 3rd floor that checked in on me!). Kudos to you all - my wife, daughter, and I were all grateful your outstanding care and attention to my medical crises.

Tear my son's face open I have had a very traumatizing experience with University hospital so my anxiety was at an all time high. However this young men comes into the room with urgency & concern. He still had on his coat & book bag in his hand. He was there to stitch up my sons face & it was a very complex procedure. A small part of my son's lip was chewed. He did a phenomenal job. My sons face looks amazing (compared) & is healing very well. I've tried to follow up with him but the facility cant seem to find him. I hope they give him the support & recognition he deserves. However, they are extremely LIMITED in the services they provide. My PCP was unable to see me and felt i needed a diagnosis for my three weeks of muscle and joint aches and fever, so recommended I went to Urgent Care. If I had gone to MetroHealth (where she wanted me to go) I would have had blood drawn to evaluate me for Lyme, infection and inflammation. They would have paid attention to my heart rate and blood pressure being much higher than my baseline. At UH, I received testing for COVID, RSV and the flu and told to follow up with my PCP for the testing I needed, because they cannot draw blood as they do not do any follow up. When I told them my PCP had no openings, they just shrugged. An urgent care that does not draw blood: what will corporate America think of next? A Starbucks that does not serve coffee? By the way, I have already spoken with the UH Ascent Urgent Care Manager. Ms Earnhart does not feel a need to have information on the website (which would have avoided me from making the appointment) or at the urgent care stating that they do not do blood draws or any work that would require them needing to follow up. I was too well for the Emergency Room but too sick for the Urgent Care. The appointment was a waste of time and money.

Most comparable offices are deep in…read morethe 'burbs, so one in our neighborhood was a welcome addition for those times when you need to be seen quickly for something common. Soon after opening, I was seen within minutes for a non-serious problem and was very satisfied with my care. Another household member did the same earlier this year. It's easy to make an online appointment. There is some parking on-site. The care seemed adequate and the staff was friendly enough. At this point, the only downside was price. It's pretty expensive even for those of us with good health insurance coverage. Based on these limited but positive experiences, I recommended this office to another older family member experiencing a common problem and in need of a prescription medication to treat it. This family member typically uses the Cleveland Clinic main campus for care, but traffic on Carnegie has been a nightmare because of construction. So, why not use the new UH Urgent Care office down the road? Well, I'll tell you why not. Unless you are a healthy adult younger than 65 years of age, they will not treat you and demand you go to the ER. The office is staffed by physician assistants (PA), and this particular PA on duty flipped out, declaring that this case was above his expertise. After collecting a sample for testing, the PA refused to issue a prescription to treat the problem and sent our older family home with instructions to either go to the ER or go to the Cleveland Clinic to see her regular physicians. That was a Tuesday. On Sunday, the same PA called our older family member to tell her that she will DIE unless she goes to the ER. He demanded that she promise over the phone that she would go to the ER. He repeated it at least three times. At this point, the older family member suspected that he was documenting this as a CYA moment because he let her go without treatment. Suffice to say, the older family member did not go to the ER. Instead, later that week, she went to the walk-in clinic at Cleveland Clinic where they issued the prescription she needed. No drama at that clinic. We haven't received the bills yet, but I am sure the UH bill will be disproportionately large compared with the quantity and quality of care received. Our older family member did not die as that PA insisted she would, but this UH Urgent Care office is most certainly dead to her.

He was personable and very caring. Unfortunately we moved from the area and I recently had my right hip done where we live now. It was a mediocre experience at best. Much more initial pain and I literally saw the doctor for 30 seconds on the day of surgery. If I have to have my knees done I will make the 2 hour drive to see Dr. Bechtel for sure!!

They took the most extraordinary care of him. It was amazing. Completely put his mother and father at ease as well as his grandparents. He's doing fine thanks to the fantastic people at Rainbow. I feel so bad for the nurses and PCAs that have to deal with this crap daily...

I…read moremust agree to the 5 stars for most of the specialty Dr.'s that work here or come from other hospitals and give exceptional care but this medical center is horrific when it comes to customer care of veterans in any other are of this medical center. The staff is outrageously disrespectful most people that work there always give the excuse of not returning calls after veterans leave messages and veteran are told they will get a return call in 24 to 48 hrs and never get one because people are on vacation, I'm sorry what? Do people really go on vacation and no one is covering calls. If you complain people actually yell at you, laugh or say that's just how it is. I have called along with many other veterans the director of the hospital which is never available but to get another person that gives excuses for the staffs unprofessionalism and outrageous conduct towards patients. I usually skip going to the medical centers advocates because the same shameful conduct is tolerated there as well. So I ask, where is the 5 star care even if you have 5 star Dr.'s if you can't get through to see the Dr.'s because of the unprofessional staff. The CEO's and director of this so called 5 star, prestigious Louis Stokes VA Medical Center should be ashamed of themselves. It's no wonder people want to go out into the community to find any sort of medical care. Everyone that has had a bad experience needs to follow up with the White House VA for this is unacceptable and stop filling out those letters and text messages or email messages asking for reviews they fall on deaf ears or in the recycling trash bins while they give themselves 5 star reviews so they can keep their jobs.
