I purchased two two-day passes for the Saturday and Sunday of the 2013 Masters far in advance last December as a special birthday surprise. As these were in high demand, I paid an large fee from Travel Masters. The day before the final weekend, just before our flight to Augusta, I received an email stating that our tickets for Saturday would not be available. We were promised a refund but we wanted the tickets- not the refund! Our disappointment was huge, we wondered whether to get on the plane! We are still waiting for a refund! Travel Masters is blaming their provider. They gave us their lawyor's phone number to try to retrieve the money we are rightly deserved. In fact we need more than that as compensation now! The lawyor never answers his phone, neither do Travel Masters any more! Don't dare do business with people so untruthful. They have stolen our money!

The told us on the Friday of the tournament they could not deliver the Saturday tickets ($2100 cost for two) and could not process a refund until after the tournament. The week after the event we received a letter saying to contact their lawyer to apply for a refund. Neither TravelMasters or their lawyer are returning calls. I cannot recommend this business they did not deliver the tickets and have not refunded our money. Its also disappointing that such a prestigious event, The Masters, would allow this type of business to openly represent tickets to the event and not deliver on their promise. I CANNOT RECOMMEND TRAVELMASTERS OF AUGUSTA GEORGIA, THEY HAVE NOT DELIVERED THE TICKETS OR A REFUND AND WILL NOT COMMUNICATE WITH US.

Marshall, the manager at Riverwatch Cinemas is running his own gem. Riverwatch is a community hub where people of all kinds can find company, healthy escape, fun, life, and good old-fashioned nights out at the movies. Marshall is always on the floor, zipping around and making sure both his customers and his team are happy and running well. A little while back, during the thick of my Ph.D. dissertation deadline, I showed up at Riverwatch a couple of hours before meeting my husband for a movie. All of the decent coffee shops were already closed, but I needed somewhere to work before the movie. Marshall not only allowed me to come in early and work in the nice dining/bar area, but he also checked on me regularly, shared his love and passion for his work with me, and made a wonderful impression on me. I now understand why Riverwatch is the place to be! Movies are constantly sold out, the setting is lively and appealing, and Marshall should be credited for this. Whenever we are down and just need to cheer up or want something fun to do when loved ones visit, we get so excited to go to the movies at Riverwatch. Thank you, Marshall, for keeping this precious part of our culture thriving! Attached: photo of my husband's work's trip to the Wicked movie premiere at RWC.

But it's a great park to picnic at along the water or take a walk around the lake. I've ran a couple 5k's here and they were fun as well. The is also the Julian bbq pitt which is an "hut" like building available for events. I'm most often here because it's a gateway to the Augusta canal trail. Just a short hike to aqueducts or you can take bike ride all the way to Savannah River rapids. You can also kayak and enjoy the lake too. So plenty to do to enjoy the outdoors here :)

The food was cheap, and everything was right beneath the stands (food, restrooms, etc.) Great location next to Lake Olmstead and the trail head which is located behind the stadium. NEGATIVES: 1. Parking is ATROCIOUS. There is very minimal free parking. The lots are made of dirt and gravel, no defined parking spaces. It's quite common to get parked in and be unable to leave until the others nearby come to get their vehicles. Frustrating is an understatement! Some people would walk all the way from parking off Broad Street. 2. Neighborhood not the best, not the worst. Safety at night is definitely more of a concern. 3. Ticket line is always lengthy. The stands can get crowded and there is little room to move around comfortably if you need to stretch your legs. Otherwise, this is a fun facility. I miss it often, even when at current Green Jackets games across the River. I hope it stays around and gets good use!

This is one of Augusta's most rewarding museums, a place that manages to tell a 12,000‑year story…read morewithout ever feeling overwhelming. The Augusta Museum of History is the city's oldest historical institution, founded in 1937 and now the only accredited museum in the Central Savannah River Area, which gives it a level of curatorial depth you can feel as you move from room to room. The museum's signature exhibition, Augusta's Story, begins with the region's earliest Indigenous cultures, including artifacts from the Stallings Island people, and then moves through the Colonial Era, the antebellum period, the Civil War, and the city's twentieth century reinventions. You see everything from slave‑made pottery to a 12‑pounder bronze Napoleon cannon tube and an 1869 steam fire engine tied to the devastating 1916 fire that reshaped parts of the city. It's a rare chance to see Augusta's full arc laid out in a way that feels comprehensive. The museum also excels at capturing the city's cultural identity. The James Brown gallery is a highlight, celebrating the life and global influence of the "Godfather of Soul" with photographs, stage pieces, and biographical context that show how deeply he shaped Augusta's modern identity. Several media options to watch him performing and to hear other leading figures discuss his influence. The golf and Masters Tournament section offers a thoughtful look at how the sport became intertwined with the city's reputation, and the medical history exhibit includes an impressive wall of antique medicine bottles that gives you a sense of how local healthcare evolved over generations. One of the most enjoyable parts of the visit is the Transportation Corridor, which brings Augusta's mobility story to life with a 1914 steam locomotive, a 1917 steam trolley, a reconstructed 1930s gas station, and a range of early vehicles. Walking through the restored streetcar and stepping into the rail car for photos adds a tactile, playful element that balances the more traditional exhibits. Upstairs, the museum's radio history exhibit traces the rise of WBBQ, one of Augusta's most influential stations, including a "then and now" section installed for its 60th anniversary. There are also exhibits on local law enforcement and firefighting, as well as a gallery of regional legends that highlights entertainers, athletes, writers, and other notable Augustans. The entire museum is comfortably explored in about two hours, which makes it an easy and rewarding stop whether you're spending a full day downtown or pairing it with the Morris Museum of Art or the Riverwalk. It's the kind of place that leaves you with a clearer sense of Augusta's character, from its earliest settlements to the voices and industries that shaped the city you see today. Don't miss it. You'll also have the option to see comedians, musicals, and the occasional children's production. What has always been a plus in my book is their flow. The line through security and check-in is constantly moving, the concessions are quick, and there are team members across the entire arena to help you find your seat (which is especially helpful when the lights go down!). Though I am not a snack/eat kind of person at concerts, they do have plenty to offer. Burgers, pretzels, nachos and cheese. Of course soda, water, coffee, beer, and wine are also available on every level and every corner. Every downtown needs the large arena to draw in the massive shows (and monster truck rallies), but they also need a medium sized venue so artists can stop through on their way to Atlanta or Columbia. The Bell meets that need and is a great substitute for the next few years while the James Brown Arena is being reconstructed. I hope you check a show there soon.
