We were experiencing problems with our AC in 2018. The unit was running far too long and the…read moresupply air was not "chilled." We called Comfort Mechanical to diagnose, and fortunately I have an engineering background and did my senior project on refrigeration systems. I knew the system was likely just low on refrigerant due to a system leak. CM's tech came out and performed the superheat/subcool diagnostics and recommended recharging. So far so good. Unfortunately I asked about performing a leak detection and the tech shrugged his shoulders. He said it wasn't needed and suggested the leak was due to an old compressor coil and that we really needed to replace it at a cost of $4000. I told him we would wait to see what happens. Fast forward to 2019 - same symptoms and we called another HVAC firm. This new firm came out, diagnosed low coolant, showed me the TX sensing bulb was disconnected AND performed a leak detection which immediately showed a leaky recharge valve. They repaired and recharged everything for the same price as CM's recharge. Fast forward to 2020 - everything still running perfectly. We just checked the temperature drop between supply and return vents and the unit is cooling as well as last year (22 degree drop) with same outside temp and humidity conditions. So I can't prove the reason for Comfort Mechanical's motivation in not checking for the source of the coolant leak, and for not pointing out the obvious disconnected TXV temp sensing bulb. Maybe he was lazy or not proficient in HVAC repair -- but he was sure willing and ready to sell us a new $4000 compressor we didn't need. (and now have the proof) Either way, it's not the type of help you'd want to expect

The guys came out to inspect and gave us options and recommended a second floor unit. While it was a big financial investment we're happy with how it turned out. It ended up causing some whistling with the first floor unit, but they came out to adjust pieces, give us new vents in the walls, and make sure we were happy with the adjustments. All of their technicians were easy to work with and super courteous. They send you a text when the tech is on their way with a photo of them and a tracker which makes me feel safe if I'm ever home alone when they come. Heating and cooling is something you definitely want to get right as it impacts your everyday life!

I didn't realize until speaking with them this new style requires slightly different venting and plumbing but Anderson could oversee the whole thing. He observed there was a lot of offset tension on the gas line connection to the furnace due its improper installation when the furnace was originally installed. He used a flexible gas line connector to alleviate the issue (see photo) and was very meticulous to ensure the new pipe had no leaks. Furthermore, he applied additional stabilizers to ensure the pipe was properly secured. I certainly appreciate his attention to detail and his outstanding professionalism to make my furnace safer and more efficient. Griffin Halls demonstrated superior skills and willingness to go the extra distance to help his customers brings great credit upon himself and the Good Guys HVAC company. Had a problem with our AC unit not cooling. After a lot of self-troubleshooting, i narrowed it…read moredown to my unit freezing up which usually happens when the refrigerant is low. I called F & S Wiliams at about 4pm and explained what was going on and they saif were going to send someone at night. I told them that wasnt necessary and I got a call from the technician the next morning and he was promptly at my house. Chris showed up and was professional and courteous. I explained him what i knew and what I had tried and he was able to run a few tests and diagnose that the system was freezing up. He explained to me the cost of refrigerant and offered to put that price in writing. I said that it was not necessary because F & S had been a good service for me 9 years ago when another company in town improperly installed my AC unit. Chris charged the system and encouraged questions. He stressed how important customer service is to him and his boss and any questions I had were not interfering with him. After the service was complete, he offered to bill me and I told him if I could use a card or check I could pay right now. He said card or check was acceptable and we settled up right there. It will be 95 degrees tomorrow outside but inside my house it will be a comfortable 68 degrees thanks, in part, to Chris and F & S Williams. I have used them before and if needed, I would not hesitate to use them again.
