Dr Larsen has been my optometrist for more than 20 years since I've lived in Napa and has always provided consistent quality care, professionally successful medical advice and direction in the care of my eyes through regular checkups and occasional injury or infection. I totally trust Dr Larsen and his staff have been very supportive through my changes in medical coverage and needs for good eyesight while driving and working ! They have always found glass frames I liked and am loving the titanium ones now, with progressive lenses that are polarized and have glare protection as my blue eyes are glare sensitive. I have found their prices to be competitive and they offer other useful products like computer reading glasses with a blue light filter on them that decreases eye strain! I recently had a need for an emergency visit to Dr Larsen and they answered my request for appointment very quickly and for me in and seen that was not a regular scheduled appointment for me. Wanted to shout out to Dr Larsen ! He was so attentive with my situation recently , specifically in calling me back to check in . He referred me to see a suited provider to further evaluate my eyes the same day Coincidentally after the appointment was over, he called me back in the nick of time ! Yes Dr Larsen is wonderful ! Very thorough in what he does . I came in because my eye was bothering me and he was able to find out what the issue was .... Ischemic optic neuropathy I had bleeding and swelling behind my optic nerve. He was able to get me in with an ophthalmologist right away. A week had passed and I received a call from Dr Larsen checking in on me and seeing how I was doing and how my appointment went with the ophthalmologist. Now that was my first time seeing Dr Larsen and for him to contact me with true concern about my situation spoke volumes on his office and compassion he has for his clients. read more

06/11/25- Based on my primary doctor's recommendations, I needed to have a routine eye exam. And I have been searching and finally found the one. I don't mind the driving for as long as the service is great and of course if they accepts Partnership. They are VSP (Vision Services Plan)- meaning that they can see you without referral from your primary care doctor. One more thing that I like the most is the ease of scheduling appointments on their websiite. It is very convenient rather than calling and waiting and explaining what you need. Their calendar can go far enough for you to conveniently schedule yourself. Keep in mind, there's a 45$ fee when you don't cancel your appointment 24 hrs prior to your scheduled day, which is just fair. And also for missed appointments. Reminders for appointments are via text, which is another plus. In today's busy and modern world, these are the type of technology that's great to have. As for the visit, greeted by nice receptionist Yaneli. We proceeded to the next room and I looked at this eye equipment that has a colored picture in the view. Then, I was asked to try on the frames on the table to see if I can find one that I like while waiting to be called. That's good so that you can be prepared and don't need to take another time to pick glasses. Waited around 20mins and got called by a wonderful eye doctor, Dr Larsen. He is very calm, patient, passionate on what he does. Sometimes when a professional has been doing his career, they tend to be lazy and grumpy due to their repetitive tasks. But not Dr Larsen. I feel like he is just new and just started due to his attitude, but he's been in practice for a long time. 1995 that's what their website says. He meticulously examine and asked me what would be a better choice while changing the magnification of the equipment. In the end, I only need a reading glasses just to help and not get a headache and strain the eyes. They also sell eye drops, Oasis, that is preservative-free which you can also get otc or even amazon. They will text me when it's ready for pick up which can take up to 10days. Office is clean. Checked out by Diana. Will be back again and will highly recommend Larsen Eye Group for all your eye needs. Btw, they also will email you the online portal for your record where you can have a sign-in and password to see you appointments, records, etc. Another wonderful tool to track your eye health. The doctor seems competent and the staff is responsive. Everyone seems competent and I booked an appointment quickly. All plus. I went in for a basic exam and contact exam. After decades of doing this, I expected an extra charge for the contact lens exam. They didn't mention an extra charge when I booked but after the exam charged me three times market rate for a contact fitting. That should have been clearly stated up front. The selection of frames is dismal. Bought glasses elsewhere. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Larsen since I moved to Napa three years ago. The office is conveniently located near downtown Napa and is easy to find. The lobby contains hundreds of eye glass frames. In fact, the options have gotten better every year. I see more and more of the trendy options each time I visit! Maria works at the front desk and is friendly, helpful and chatty. Dr. Larsen is incredibly friendly and always likes to talk about my vegan lifestyle. He has been a big help explaining my changes in eye site (yep, I finally need reading glasses!). This office is lovely, and Dr. Larsen is wonderful. He took great care of me, got me a great prescription and I found a pair of frames I really like that were fully covered by my insurance. I really want to give them 5 stars, but every time I've been here, it's taken way too long for anyone to make themselves available to help me when I come in. Twice in my first visit and then again when I returned, I've waited longer than I wanted to for no apparent reason. The ladies who work there stand around talking, even looking up so I know they know I'm there, but are never in any hurry at all to stop the conversation (work-related or otherwise, I can't tell & ultimately don't think it matters). Once they do get to helping you, the employees are lovely and helpful; it's just incredibly frustrating to wait around for no apparent reason. It feels disrespectful that they don't hurry or even acknowledge me until they feel like it. read more

After being a client for 3 years I was very happy with Dr. Larsen, always personable and prompt with his appointments. Unfortunately my visit last month will be my last due to his front office. After loosing my glasses and in despite need of another pair I went in for an appointment and to have new lenses made. When they were taking my order for lenses I was told they would be ready in a week. After 9 days I called as I had an upcoming business and meeting where I had to give a presentation and read during the presentation. I was told that my glasses where delayed, no call form the office, I had to call again. So I had to place a rush order with another lens producer so I would have glasses for my meeting. Done in two days at the additional cost of $175! No apologies from the front office. Upon my arrival back to Napa I called, now 17 days since I dropped off the glasses, they said they would check with the lens producer and get back to me. The next day I called again, still not done. The excuse was the lens producer was rejecting their own work on my glasses. The next day the glasses arrived.. after wearing them several days and feeling the glasses were very uncomfortable I took them back to the eyewear store I bought them form, and found out the glasses were reassembled incorrectly and would need repair. Another charge.. And a word of advise, when you continually screw up, do not refer to the customer as hon....... read more

I've been going to Dr. Larson for the past few years, and I have to say I would not switch to anybody unless I totally had to. A couple of times I've just walked in there for an appointment, and they happen to take me right on the spot which worked for me with my crazy schedule. I love Dr. Larson, he is so nice and so awesome. He Is very patient and considerate and very down-to-earth. And if you have 20 questions he will answer 20 questions without rushing you out the door LOL. I would totally recommend him! I have macular degeneration which is difficult at best but glasses make a huge difference. Dr. Larsen has been my doctor for at least ten years and he's the best. Unlike Kaiser, who gave me the wrong prescription after spending all of 5 minutes during my initial exam, HE TAKES THE TIME to make sure the micro adjustments to my vision are PERFECT. I can't recommend him enough. He's changed the name of his business to Larsen Eye Group. Quick, responsible service with great people is why I'm writing this now. By the way, you don't have to wait forever to get your new prescription. read more

Dr. Larsen himself is great! He gives good recommendations and let's you know exactly what you need and puts effort into making you feel comfortable. He also ensures that you understand everything with your visit and eyes. Very friendly, makes sure he gets it right with anything you need the first time! However, the front staff are very rude, I went in to get my glasses readjusted on three separate occasions, they could not get them fixed correctly. None of the three times did they ever call back to let me know when my glasses were ready. They were promised once later that same day and I went in but they told me they would call and tell me when they would be ready, most likely tomorrow they said. Second day still no call. I went in person and demanded to have my glasses and they were ready. I had to go in myself checking in everyday to see if they were there. After two weeks my glasses were looser with each time I would wear them. I went in again and same scenario- they never called. This took a week. This last time I went in because they over tightened my glasses. As a result I wore them one time after readjustment and the entire leg of my glasses fell out. It was put back broken in place. IT WAS NEVER FIXED, THEY BROKE THE GLASSES. I was very upset because I had to pay in full for my glasses my insurance did not cover it. These we're my favorite pair of glasses and when I went in to tell them that my glasses were given back to me like this the front desk told me that it was my fault and started saying how I tried to fix them and therefore I broke them. She also said that I didn't know how to properly wear my glasses and put them on. She came up with more excuses then solutions and then went ahead and charged me without asking for the type of repair. I told her no because it may have not been necessary if the glasses could be fixed. When I went to pick them up they did call me only to tell me that there was going to be an additional fee for fixing them. Granted I did not brake them. Another young thin lady from the front desk told me that she remembered me and that if they were readjusted too much they could brake from the legs!! I was shocked because she knew that I have been coming back multiple times. Regardless she had to charge me even though she said they were too tight last time. They take no responsibility what so ever and it seems like they just view there customers as transactions. I don't ever want to come back to this place and I would never recommend this place to anyone. The front desk is very unprofessional and rude. I saw one of the other girls readjusting my glasses after being charged for the leg they fixed. The glasses were loose where they fixed the "broken leg". Honestly if the front desk is making the adjustments and there not trained professionals at fixing glasses they have no business messing other people's glasses up. I'm very disappointed and I wish this doesn't ever happen to anyone else. read more

yes this is the place to get an eye exam. no insurance it will cost 120.00 plus the cost of your glasses and they have all kinds ranging from 89-200 or so. they have special packages available.. and dr larsen is very friendly helpfull and makes you feel comfortable.... i give it 5 stars read more
