I have read reviews about great doctors but rude staff at this and other optometrist offices. I scheduled my first appointment at this office several weeks ago and went to it today. I'm happy to say the staff member that I initially talked to on the phone was incredibly helpful and polite. During my visit today both staff members I interacted with were polite and helpful as well. My exam with Dr. Glasgow went great - she is obviously very good at what she does and showed an interested and caring attitude towards me as a patient. Based on my experience so far I'm happy to highly recommend Napa Valley Optometric Group. Now 4 months later I finally had a pair of glasses made with the prescription Dr. Glasgow wrote at my exam. She really nailed it - among the best glasses (from a prescription standpoint) I've ever owned! read more

Years ago I went when Dr Beach was still there. It was a great place and the optical department was very good -I remember an older woman who could always pick out the right frames for me. However I went last year and and just recently- I was told last year my glasses would be in in 2 weeks. I waited over 3 weeks and called told they weren't in - the lady checked and said to me "we haven't received them yet". And that she would contact the place or lab. Thank goodness I called- they didn't bother to make sure they were in when they were supposed to be. I am now waiting for a call back from their Optical department-- as again I was told 2 weeks .. it's a bit over 2 weeks- the optical department is not calling me back with the status .... However at my appointment the eye exam was done nicely and very professionally. The new Doctor was nice. read more

I'm still waiting on my contact lens prescription 8+ days after my appointment. I had an eye exam and gas permeable contact lens fitting on Wednesday, December 11 and paid an additional fee for a new contact lens prescription. That fee was not disclosed upfront, even though I asked about the cost when scheduling. I was later told the delay was because the doctor was on vacation. Staffing and vacation schedules are internal matters and should not delay a patient's access to their prescription or justify charging for a service that hasn't been provided in a timely manner. I am using my mother's yelp account to leave a review. I do not wear eyeglasses and rely on contact lenses to see. I've been left unable to see properly while waiting, with Christmas a week away and needing to order lenses urgently. Charging an undisclosed fee and then taking over a week (and counting) to provide a prescription is unacceptable. I hope this office improves transparency, communication, and follow-through so other patients don't experience this. read more

Just an update. 6 weeks after ordering, yesterday I was contacted and told my glasses were in. Six weeks for glasses to arrive seems unacceptable to me. Two days prior to my glasses arriving, I was asked for my Medicare card information. Note, I have VSP Premier Vision Insurance and paid in full for glasses the day I ordered them. I contacted VSP and was told "No reason Medicare Information was needed" by them. I found this odd. I've bought glasses here before and was never asked for Medicare information. Glad I am done with this business. Both pairs of glasses I ordered were really nice though. read more

What a fabulous eye practice. From the point you enter the doors, you are greeted by a genuinely cheerful smiling face. That's where it starts. The doctors are incredible and I checked their bios and found they are really enthusiastic specialists. Recently a new low vision doctor was added Dr. Haj. She is extremely talented and if you, or your loved one are losing your side, she can work with you to help get a device necessary for reading or other visual goals. Quick story, I was in Napa for vacation and forgot my contacts. I called Napa Valley Optometric Group and told them my situation. I was able to get them over my prescription and they set me up with contacts to last me my stay. I cannot recommend them enough!! They were amazingly helpful!! read more

Dr. Glasgow is fantastic! My experience working with her and her staff has been wonderful! For years I was told that it was impossible for me to wear contacts. Until her! She is very thurrogh with her exam and I finally am able to wear contacts! My life has changed for the better because of her. Awesome Dr.s but terrible staff. Won't go back after 3 generations of family members using them. My 15 year old had an appointment during Covid, so we couldn't go with her. She picked out frames and send me a photo of them. We we received them 3 months later they were the wrong ones. No one would accept responsibility for the mistake or offer to make it right. I guess they don't have a guarantee for service there. Oh well, there are many other places to chose from in Napa. Major disappointment. read more

She obviously has a lot of experience doing exams, and she was able to help me get the right prescription for my age. I have been buying glasses and sunglasses from Napa Valley Optometric Group for many years and they stood by their product, but not anymore. I had a major problem with the anti reflective coating on my prescription sunglasses 6 months out of a 2 year warranty which made the glasses unusable. I paid extra money to have this coating added with their suggestion and the coating is flaking off! I was told they don't use that particular lab anymore. My problem is they chose the lab so they are somewhat responsible. read more

The receptionist was okay... in the optician store: It's super affordable and they have many options from non brand to designer brands... last year I bought some ran bans brand which I still have and just recently I got some Prada that I'm waiting on. read more

I have seen Dr. Beach and Dr. Fugit in the past. In fact, I have been a patient for many years. The doctors are the ONLY reason that I have continued to return. After this last appointment in the office, I will not be back! When I checked in and paid, the lady behind the desk asked if I would like a receipt emailed to me. Perfect, I thought....but I never received it! The information in my chart from my previous appointment (one year ago) was incorrect, and Dr. Fugit had to take quite a bit of extra time to sort that out, which I really appreciated. They didn't have the trial pair of contacts on site, so I was told they would need to be ordered and I could pick them up in about 2 days. I waited almost a week until I broke down and called them, only to be told that, "if I haven't received a call, then they weren't in". I waited a few more days and called back, this time being told that they were never ordered! Once again, I was told they would be ordered and that they would call me. When I picked up the contacts, I was informed that I would need to return for a follow up appointment to look at the contacts as I wore them. I have been wearing contacts for more years than I would like to admit, and am pretty familiar with the process. Same type of product, but with just a slight change in the strength doesn't generally require a follow up, unless there are issues. Although I made the appointment, I called the following day to explain why it seemed unnecessary. I was told by the front desk that they would look into it. I ended up having to follow up twice just to get an answer that yes, infact a followup isn't needed. I asked that the final prescription be mailed to me and was told that it would be put in the mail the next day. 10 days later I called the office once again since I hadn't received the prescription in the mail and was told that it was never sent! The final straw was receiving a bill in the mail for the co-payment that I already paid on the day of the appointment. Fortunately, payment was made with a credit card so there was proof that I had paid, since the promised receipt was never sent on the day of the appointment. For a basic run of the mill eye exam, this many problems should not occur! I can understand a mistake or two, it happens, but this is ridiculous! While the doctors were great, the front office staff drag the whole operation down to the point that it is not worth returning. read more

The entire staff was incredibly courteous & welcoming. They do not rush your appointment but stay with you until all of your questions and concerns are addressed. Dr Fugit was great. It all falls apart in the office. They couldn't find my file twice. Then they couldn't find the paper work for the glasses I picked out on a previous visit. The first pair I was steered to were around $350 just for the frames. I finally found a pair I liked on my third visit and was told that the glasses would cost $50. So I paid for them and was told they would be ready in two weeks. I come back four weeks later and find out they never ordered them. They couldn't find the payment I made either. And now the glasses are $136 more because they can't figure out how to bill my insurance. And no compensation for my time. read more

I really like our Dr. (Tempus Fugit). The whole operation is really run well, and staff are polite and helpful. Their selection of frames is not the best but is fine -- and they will gladly give you your prescription if you want to go somewhere else. read more

I agree with a previous review that the doctors are the only reason I go here because they're so awesome. The rest of the staff is really lacking in professionalism. They never want to help you, and make everything difficult. I had to return multiple times to get forms and receipts, and they never included my copayment charge even though I was ready to pay in full at the end of my appointment, etc. I have to take time off of work to get there before they close, so having to go in multiple times means I'm losing money because of them, which is completely unacceptable since it's preventable. They literally don't seem to care about their jobs, or the patients, and are just there to collect a paycheck. Hopefully someday the business owners will actually take these reviews seriously and do something about the staff issues. read more

Bad first impression. Not very friendly staff - my daughter and I arrived first, but they helped someone else ahead of us! Also I understand that this is not a dental office, but a smile would have been nice! The worst part is that they said the glasses would be ready in 10 days, and it has now been 21 days and my daughter's glasses have yet to arrive! I spoke to their staff on the phone, and was told that it was the fault of the lab - well, it might be so, but I did not do business with the lab! However, I will add one star to this review, only because there is some truth to that. I have had contacts/glasses for the past 30 years and have never left an optometry office angry. I guess there is a first for everything. First the problem of the relentless "upselling". I came in to get my glasses prescription refilled. I will mostly be wearing them for an hour, max, at home. I asked to receive the services that were covered by my insurance, but was instead told that I had to get this feature or that feature. It felt like a constant argument more than an eye exam. I didn't want to spend more money on my glasses than I needed to. Finally, the doctor turned me over to the lens department to pick out my frames and I had to have the entire conversation again. Lens Department Person: "Oh, you didn't choose your lenses, I recommend this one, they are only $80 more." Me: "Which ones are covered by the insurance?" Lens Dept Person: "These. But you really should have at least these, they are only $30 more." This went on with each feature on my glasses, three more times, with me asking for just the features covered by the insurance until I finally had to just say, "Look, I'm broke, I need whichever lenses are covered by the insurance". I have only been to them one time before and I couldn't believe how much of my appointment that was not covered by my insurance the last time, because I trusted them to advise me and was not keeping an eye on the add-ons. Shame on me. Also, while I was there, the Dr. Herbert discovered that when my glasses were made (somewhere else) the prescription was way off, like way, way off. He said they probably added or left off an extra 0 (I don't remember which one he said). I had wondered why they seemed blurry compared to my contacts, but again, I hardly ever wear them, though I had worn them that day to the office, so I could get them looked at. I was shocked and told him that my vision was kind of fuzzy driving over and that I was horrified that I had driven in such an unsafe manner. I asked him if he could provide me with a pair of contact lenses for the ride home (as he has in the past) and he said sure. Towards the end of the exam, when he confirmed that I was only getting glasses, he said I could not borrow contact lenses to drive home safely, as they were only for people buying contact lenses. I was really upset and told him that I did not feel safe driving home blind in one eye. He said "oh, you made it over here, didn't you?" What a total ass. I called a friend to drive me home and will never be back here again. I recommend that you look at anyone else in town unless you want to go to an optometrist that cares only about upselling and add-ons that about you or your safety. read more
