I learned that Andrew and his team had not filed my income tax return through a letter from the IRS (March 2024) and then a letter (April 2024) from the Illinois Department of Revenue. Meanwhile, I received three emails from Andrew since the October 15, 2023 tax filing deadline that he missed. In none of these emails did Andrew inform me that he had not filed my tax return. In fact, in an email he sent me a few weeks before I received the IRS letter, he asked about getting together to talk about my 2024 taxes. Now, that the penalties are due, and he realized that he forgot to file my tax return, Andrew is hiding behind a "you did not sign the form" argument. His emails show that he simply forgot to file the 2023 tax return. It is how you handle your mistakes that speak to your integrity. From what I have seen thus far, Andrew lacks the integrity that a business and individual need and deserve in an accountant for the following reasons: Now, that the penalties are due: Andrew is hiding behind a "you did not sign the form" argument when in fact, his emails show that he simply forgot to file the 2023 tax return, AND He is suggesting that we amend my taxes and include some schemes that a few other accountants call "Tik Tok Accounting" because these schemes are advertised on Tik Tok as a way of lowering taxes. I am all for lowering my taxes but I do not want to wind up in tax court, as the other reviewer did, or worse. I am writing this so you can make an informed decision. Andrew is a super nice guy- we can agree on that. He made a mistake- everyone makes mistakes- we can agree on that. His actions and statements, after I informed him that he did not file my tax return, speak to his lack of integrity. I am sure that you will come to agree on that when he, inevitably, makes a mistake (remember, everyone makes mistakes). I was Andrew's client for several years. I paid all of his fees- of course, none of the fees, including the one I paid for filing my 2023 personal taxes, were refunded. In fact, there was no offer of refund, and no offer of paying the penalties and interest now due (over $7,000) because of his negligence.
