They sold us $35,000 solar panels in October of 2022, installed them in December, and then basically ignored us until April without getting the panels inspected/approved by the county. That's when I was FINALLY able to get in touch with Forrest, the owner, to try to get this project moved along. Forrest is the one who has continued the practice at IHE of overpromising and delivering next to nothing, as he told me over and over again that he was personally handling our job and that we were THIS close to getting it over the finish line. That was in April of 2023. Fast forward to now (mid-November)... four failed inspections later (many of which were due to his electrician not showing up at all), and now Forrest won't return my calls or texts. We have a lawyer who has sent a demand letter five days ago - still no response from Forrest nor anybody at IHE. I'm guessing we will have to sue him for all of our losses and future losses. I'm also aware that we are one of MANY clients who have been burned by him, so I'd expect more of this to hit him. I'd be careful buying their other services as well, since this could all blow up in his face. Additionally, Forrest promised to pay the electrical portion of our Xcel Energy bills, since we've been paying the financing on this system since February (for panels that are NOT functional) and therefore paying double what our energy bills used to be. He reimbursed us for March, April and May, but then stopped.... I guess we just have to eat the June, July, August, September, October, November, etc. etc. etc. costs that HE put us in. Beware of the glowing reviews of Ideal Home Energy and Forrest - he's just a good salesperson that tells you what you want to hear. Don't get burned like we did.

I hired this company to do air sealing and new insulation in my older Denver house. They were kind…read moreof a case of over-promising and under-delivering. But, to be fair, they didn't charge me for the things they didn't deliver. On the day that the work was done, the techs ended up not doing any air sealing. It wasn't entirely clear to me why, either the house didn't need it or it couldn't be done. Of course they didn't charge me for it, but that also meant I didn't get the Xcel rebate, which requires air sealing to be done. This seemed like something they should've figured out when they came out to do a quote. I also have a room without attic space above it, but I knew for a fact that the rafter space between ceiling and roof can be accessed from the main attic. So I asked them to include that in the quote and blow some insulation into that space. At the end of the work, the tech said they couldn't because there was no access to that space. By that point it was too late to try to convince them otherwise, since they'd already packed up. They adjusted the invoice to not charge me for that space, but I'm still left with a room without any insulation above it. They also installed a solar attic vent fan. Initially when they arrived, they said they'd have to reschedule that work, since they didn't have a fan in stock, but ended up locating one and installing it. I understand that there are supply chain woes, but when I had to make the appointment 2 months in advance, it kinda felt like they could've worked those issues out. There were also a few other things they said they'd do but ended up not doing without much explanation, including sealing/insulating the attic hatch, and installing vent baffles. I hate to be ageist, but both the person who came out to do the quote and the two techs looked to be in their 20s, so I couldn't help but wonder if they simply weren't experienced enough to know how to do all these things in an older home, and were primarily trained to go into an attic with a hose and spray insulation til done. In the end, the work they did do was fine. No damage or mess, and plenty of new insulation in the attic. But I don't know that it was really worth it. They said I should see a reduction in energy bills of something like 10%, but that's hard to measure when a) my bills are already pretty low and b) bills will change by 10% or more month-to-month based on just the weather. I had hoped that at least the new insulation would help reduce the large temperature differential between the levels in my house, but thus far that seems to not be the case, and I can't say I've noticed the a/c running less than it used to. So I don't regret having the work done, since the previous insulation was desperately out of date, and hopefully I'll see bigger dividends in the winter. But thus far it hasn't really made much difference.

He was more thorough than the other companies I interviewed, cost was appropriate, but more importantly he knows his business and is local. An architect friend gave me his contact. What stunned me about most of the contractors is they do not have a imaging camera. I happened to have one, imaged my home prior to having a different contractor work on my home, and afterward found that not only had he not filled all my walls, did a lousy job cleaning up, but hadn't even mentioned that he didn't do interior walls for my garden level basement although it needed to be done. My bad for not reading the contract closely. I assumed that if he was going to insulate my home he'd do it all (or at least tell me what he wouldn't do). Thermal Craft came in and finished off my home and I'm really pleased.

He even talked me out of spending $15k+ on new storm windows, giving me much affordable options that will yield better results. In addition to all of his recommendations, he is getting me a $40 annual credit with xcel at no cost to me. Among other things, he discovered that our bathroom is venting into insulation in our attic (a risk factor for mold) and that our sunlight needs to be sealed. The lady I spoke with, who's name I've forgotten, was extremely helpful. After spending a bit of time asking questions to understand our project and needs, she went told me that she wasn't aware of the any rebates but that she'd look into it and follow up with me. Later than evening she called me and confirmed there were currently no rebates, and concluded that it didn't make any sense for us to have them audit our home. The way she put it was roughly "we don't like to put ourselves in situations where we can't add value". I really appreciate the honestly and extra effort she made.

I also discovered that the technician moved my security camera from the window to a table without asking. This was captured on my security footage. When I raised these concerns with management, I felt they were dismissed. The manager told me he believed the technician's account over mine despite the video I provided. I also informed him that I intended to leave an online review. During our conversation, he responded by saying, "I'll sue you for defamation." And, " I can't wait to see everyone on Reddit laugh at you" That response made me question whether customers feel comfortable leaving honest negative reviews after receiving that kind of warning. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I encourage anyone hiring these contractors to have security cameras and to document the condition of their home before and after service. In my opinion, moving a customer's security camera without permission is a serious security concern. Xcel's website has a list of companies you should use I'll provide a list below. After shopping around they were able to give us exactly what we needed and we already notice a difference with the mini heat wave that we are having currently here in Denver.Scheduling was relatively easy and we were able to get on the calendar within a month. Pricing was competitive and they offered to price matching should we find another company that we liked. Other companies, however did not offer as many services for the amount that we paid. Guardian is also filing our upgrade with Xcel energy so that we get all the offered rebates that we don't have to do that ourselves, which is definitely a nice touch. The installers arrived in a timely manner, and were done within one day with a job that was estimated to take two. They also kept things tidey and cleaned up once finished. We also had a ton of questions and Brian, who helped us, was always able to reply and patiently explain things. He was incredibly flexible with planning to our unique situation, and was very knowledgeable. From the beginning, he gave us a bunch of literature, as well as testimonials, and a résumé for the company which definitely put us at ease at the level of experience that was held by Guardian.
