Loved this place from the very beginning. They have so many services that are seemingly affordable. Over a month ago I was diagnosed and prescribed an anti psychotic all in one 20 minute tele-therapy call. I struggled with my meds and there was no follow up for an appointment before they ran out. when they did, I couldn't get anyone on the phone at first. I finally got an appointment after being told that someone at the office would try to get me a prescription filled in the meantime and it didn't happen. So next time I called I was told Id be given 7 pills till my appointment. They never sent the prescription to the pharmacy and the only thing keeping me from harming myself was the 2 pills the pharmacist gave me to help me. But I've now had to stop short on my meds and make it 7 days till my appointment. this is very dangerous, I don't think this office knows what they are doing when it comes to mental health. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the way this office handled my appointment. The level of inconsideration and lack of professionalism was unacceptable. I was scheduled for an appointment, then received a call from the office to reschedule. They moved my appointment to a Saturday, and I arranged my schedule around that time, including taking off work. Then, the day before my appointment, I was contacted and told that they do not see new patients on Saturdays. When I asked how I was scheduled for a Saturday appointment in the first place and whether this was a new policy, I was simply told "no" and given an apology. I explained that I had taken time off work and that I urgently needed to see a doctor, but despite their mistake, they refused to make any effort to accommodate me or correct the situation. Mistakes happen, but what matters is how a business handles them. In this case, the office took no responsibility and showed very little concern for the inconvenience and stress they caused. A patient looking for medical care should not be treated this way. I would not recommend this office to anyone who values communication, reliability, and respect for their time. read more

Diana Macaulay is an amazing doctor. Even thought he office is usually busy, she takes the time to listen to your needs and concerns. Dr. Maculay does an exceptional job at creating g a treatment plan for you. She always greets you with a smile and a ray of positive energy. Shoutout to Jeanine for being patient while doing my bloodwork. She listened to my concerns and was extremely gentle. She has a positive spirit about her that puts you at ease. E is unprofessional and money hungry. They pushed for getting special blood tests and wouldn't repeat after an issue with the collection. When I didn't opt for IV vitamin therapy, she was not interested in keeping me as a patient anymore. read more

Worst doctor I've been to in years.. I've been denied my medication under terms that make no sense one was blood pressure medication which is under stable I haven't gotten a blood test done but now I'm being denied my asthma pump for absolutely no reason and these aren't even the only issues they messed up putting a needle in my arm twice and I was bleeding 2nd time I was bruising all over they've messed up appointments of mine it's honestly ridiculous at this point and with the blood pressure I check in every other day and my pills work and I note this to them and they don't care I'm so done with this place beware making this your selected doctors office read more

My very first visit at the office was lovely I met with Maria McCabe she made me feel listened to and like she really wanted to help me with the issues I am experiencing after that visit I had a televisit with Efrat Lamandre which felt rushed and like I was a student she wanted to impress with information and not a patient who needed answers to real problems im facing but the icing on the cake was my last appointment they decided to give me a new doctor who was Crystal Hernandez that was the WORST decision they could have made Crystal was SOOOO unprofessional she asked me personal questions aloud with the door open she blurted out test results while walking in the room again door not even fully closed yet lastly it was time for me to get my flu shot and Ms. Hernandez DID NOT TAKE THE AIR OUT OF THE NEEDLE AND PUSHED THE DOSAGE AND AIR INTO MY ARM! I tried to have high hopes for this clinic and was utterly disappointed staff does not follow up when bringing in documentation that needs to be filled out they have work from home employees that will read your results to you days after you've already received it yourself and not a doctor who you can ask follow up questions to just overall very disappointing. read more

I had booked a first time appointment with Efrat LaMandre, but then let the office know 2 times that I would have to reschedule it and asked when her next available appointment was and rescheduled. They sent in a different NP instead of the one that I had scheduled the appointment with. I was also told that I was a "No Show" for the appointment that I told them 2 times that I would have to reschedule. Being that I was not an "established" patient, the 24 hour rule did not apply to me. I was supposed to receive a complete physical exam. The NP didn't even examine me. She just asked me questions but never did the physical exam. The definition of PHYSICAL is relating to the BODY as opposed to the mind. She never did a PHYSICAL exam. She was also supposed to send 4 prescriptions to my pharmacy because I was out of asthma medication, so very important. 2 days went by and she still hadn't sent over the prescriptions. Doctors always send them right away. I called and was told that she never even documented the medications in my file. I have never heard of a healthcare provider not documenting a visit. It is mandatory. Finally 3 of the prescriptions were sent over but still waiting for the last one. I thought maybe she will finish sending over the prescriptions the next week if she feels like it. I guess she didn't feel like it because it has been 10 days now and she still hasn't requested the 4th asthma medication from my pharmacy. So unprofessional. It's unbelievable that a medical professional can claim and get paid for doing a physical exam without even examining you. So, if you have anything serious going on like skin cancer on your back, a lump in your breast, or a blood clot in your leg, etc you will not know it until it is too late because you were never examined. She didn't even look in my ears, nose, eyes, listen to my heart, check for swollen lymph nodes, do a breast exam, or ekg which are minimal for a physical exam. Women don't matter when it comes to healthcare. I was sent a link to log on to the portal to, at least, see my lab results. I Was not given any way to enter my "generated" user name and password so I called and was given them. When I entered them into the system, it said they were invalid, so I called and was told that someone would call me to help with the issue. Never received the call. I guess they didn't feel like calling. The person that I spoke with said she would email me my lab results in the meantime. Well, I guess she didn't feel like sending them. I honestly hesitated to write this review because it's not directed at the medical staff at all (they are great). However I just want people to be aware to never give out your credit card information over the phone. I thought I could trust them to take my info to pay a bill & the next day I woke up to 3 fraudulent charges on my credit card. I was a patient of this NP since before she had her own office (nearly 7 years). Being a queer-identified person I felt comfortable there for many years until I started going during the pandemic. No one in the office wears a mask and the visits started feeling like I was being moved through a factory. I was convinced to try her new functional medicine appointments where I was given a binder of my health information, had a brief and unhelpful visit with the NP where she was repeatedly interrupted, and then I was given treatment options which included packages that ranged from $500-many thousands of dollars - this visit alone cost me $300. I was a teacher, so the prices were not suited to my budget. During one visit I had lost a significant amount of weight and the NP told me to tell one of the "girls in the front" about how I'd done it because she had been trying to lose weight. She then shared personal information with me about the person which I thought was unprofessional. The real kicker was when I came for a visit in December 2021 (can't recall why) and they handed me a printout stating that they would no longer be taking my health insurance in 2022 (the following month). It was not presented as a decision made by my insurance provider but by the office itself. One of the nurses (?) said she would be sure to speak to Efrat (the NP) because I had been a patient for so long. I was told that it would cost $75 for an office visit if I chose to return. So, just like that after 7 years, I was without a general practitioner again. Overall, it started out as a place where I felt safe, heard, and respected and ended up being like every other GP/doctor office I've been to - impersonal and super crappy. read more

I guess I should've read the reviews before I made my appointment. Please do not come here. From when you walk in, the staff is unprofessional, unfriendly, and plain rude. The nurse practitioner who I saw was nice but she wasn't interested in addressing any of my issues, she just pushed me off and gave me referrals. The girl who took my blood did not wash her hands prior to taking blood and didn't even put on gloves. Extremely unsanitary and unprofessional. It seems that no one in this office knows what is going on, except for the fact that you must have a card on file in case you miss your appointment, in which case they'll charge you $40. I've been a patient here for a few years and generally speaking, have had a more positive experience than not. Generally speaking, the office returns calls and is quick to schedule an appointment if one is needed, sparing the expense of an urgent care facility. The office is clean and the staff is thorough. I also like that they use a manual blood pressure cuff. Maybe a small thing but it has kept me returning to the office although I no longer live in Staten Island. As a transgender person, most of my experiences have been positive although I *have* been misgendered by a nurse a time or two. I also have been somewhat frustrated when asking to be evaluated for HRT because I've been sent to a colleague of the provider's who does not take insurance and charges a fairly high out of pocket fee for treatment. This seems counter intuitive to the general policy at the practice to be affordable even for people who are not insured. The other thing that is somewhat concerning is the doctor's focus on weight. I have felt fat shamed and somewhat dismissed by the way she's responded to valid questions I've had about my overall well being, which she has linked to weight although there are no weight related metabolic issues in my labs. I have always been a little bigger but am smaller than most of my close relatives; I think it's mostly genetic. Doctors I've seen previously have been more supportive and encouraging, taking time to listen and ask questions about my diet and exercise practices rather than generalizing my health to the number on the scale. If there is anything that has made me consider seeking services elsewhere, it is this. As I said, overall my experience has been more positive than negative and I am grateful that there is an LGBT competent provider other than the community health agencies which sometimes have month long wait lists and sub par care. I would recommend working with the staff on making sure they are using the correct names/pronouns and work with the doctor on her sensitivity towards people who are not thin. read more

I call this place the "fake doctors". Please, if you care about the standards of your healthcare, don't bother going here. The staff is unprofessional and rude. If you go here, there's a very high chance not only will you be unsatisfied with your care but they'll probably give you the wrong paperwork, and purposely leave out aspects of your care so that you have to go back again- and pay another copay. Efrat Lamandre, Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, is an amazing woman who made me feel immediately comfortable and cared-for. She is intuitive, and most importantly, she listens patiently to your concerns, and seems to know, right away, the best course of action. Her staff are all just as warm and kind as she, and they are highly competent. I was called into the doctor's office precisely at the time of my appointment. The facility is IMMACULTE and so comfortable. I am so grateful to have found this extraordinary place and Efrat LaMandre! I definitely recommend EG Healthcare at 209 Steinway Avenue. I tend to put off doctor visits - I never feel comfortable and I dislike waiting rooms; I am a bit claustrophobic. I had my first appointment with Efrat LaMandre, FNP yesterday for an annual physical for which I was long overdue. From the moment I started filling out the intake forms, I was already beyond impressed. They're the only doctor's office on SI (that I've been to, anyway,) that explicitly offers LGBTQ healthcare services. They also have outreach questions relating to homelessness and food insecurity on the intake forms and during the part of the visit where the nurse takes your vitals, etc., so that they can connect their patients with services if needed. I've never been to a practice that's offered all this, and I'm absolutely blown away. I've already booked an appointment to meet with the OB/GYN who works in the same practice. I'm going to give this place 1 star. And here is why. For an LGBT friendly athmosphere DOES ANYONE READ THE HEALTH CARE PAPER? The one that addresses NAME, DOB, OR PREFERED NAME, ECT? Or even gives a GLANCE at someone's gender which in the office LISTS: female, male, FTM and MTF. The medical assistants need to read the document better and not out a person. This has made my experience bad. As far as blood work, it is really best for me to go to Staten Island University Lab because there needs to be more experienced plebotomists/medical assistants. That's fine. I'm used to going else where. I am going to give this doctors office another chance though it is clean. I just hope someone see's this review how they see someone's application and really has more sensitivity and awareness. Meeting the doctor was a bad experience as well. It was as if the doctor as well did not care to read my application. And especially that I'm new she did not ask me my pronouns or exactly what gender I was- she just looked and said what she saw. It upset me because again I listed everything on that paper. It just needs to be LOOKED at. I couldn't even tell the doctor because I was very misunderstood and traumatized - I didn't want her to judge me. I hope this gets better at this doctor's office or I can't come here anymore for my mental sake. I have always had an issue with health care ALWAYS. I wish that one day it can be better. Since I can't reply back to you here is what I am answering back: This needs to be seriously addressed. As well as with the doctor too. The doctor did not read my documents provided as it seems OR asked me about my pronouns for meeting me the first time and just assumed. I am really having a hard time with my experience for the rest of the day because I am in shock to have printed out my own copies of the papers for professionals to not even read it, what is the POINT of them? This is mentally and physically unsafe for LGBT Individuals. This needs to be addressed seriously as soon as possible and INSTANTLY. I am giving this place another chance, but if nobody reads the papers or asks anything what kind of health care office is this? My mental health went so far down the first day very badly and again, I just need a trustable doctor and assistants - I guess I am always looking in the WRONG places. I am dissapointed. If maybe I can come to the meeting as well and hear what the staff will do for LGBT inclusiveness I would be happy to come and also share my thoughts also. I was looking for a new doctor. I found this practice and wow. One of my best experiences with healthcare. Staff and Dr. Efrat were welcoming and quick to move my process forward. My waiting time was less than 5 minutes and even in the exam room I didn't really wait for Dr. Efrat. She was friendly, and I quickly felt comfortable with her. I recommend this practice to everyone. This "doctor" misdiagnosed my family and most recently myself. My daughter complained of ear pain and she concluded it was just earwax buildup when it was a severe infection. Recently diagnosed me with KIDNEY FAILURE!!! Is she trying to scare people to death because of her stupidity. DO NOT TRUST THIS WOMAN WITH YOUR HEALTH. read more
