Our neighbor hired him in to cut down their ash tree and he dropped their tree limb on our garage…read moreroof/gutters on our property causing thousands in damage. He is now refusing to pay the quoted amount for the damages and only offering us $850. Our best guess (not confirmed) is he in uninsured and we are on the hook for his negligence. I am not the first person this has happened to, including, I just found out, a family member in Eastern Iowa who hired him and had to pay out of pocket when he dropped a tree limb on a city power line and also their fence. He did not pay to repair his damages. Highly suggest asking for proof of insurance before you hire someone and calling the insurance company to verify - insurance documents can be forged and if something seems shady best to check it out. Please make sure you hire a reputable company for the sake of your property and your neighbors'
