It is hard to review this place as, the location is perfect and, for that alone, I would give it 5 stars. Situated on Eibsee the view from the outdoor area here is amazing and, well worth going there just to sit back and enjoy the view and, sip a cocktail or beer. The service is good and friendly and, I assume they speak ok English as they get a lot of tourists at the place. The prices are not bad and the food is quite ok. I had the Zanderfilet which is a local fresh water fish with boiled potatoes and the fish was cooked really well (a tad overdone form me). The taste was quite good and buttery and the potatoes were nice. I wish they had some sauce with the fish as it was a pretty dry dish overall. The ice cream dessert I had was excellent with Vanilla and Chocolate Eis with a nice cherry sauce and it went down a treat on a hot day. I would quite happily come back here if we are back in this area. Not much I did not like about the place and the service was good.

I'm surprised at some of the mediocre reviews. I can't imagine a better place to eat after touring the Zugspitze. The view here is picture perfect, the prices are very reasonable, and the food was very good. There is a stand outside the pavilion serving grilled trout fresh from the lake, which isn't technically a part of the restaurant but I'm sure you could grab one and sit on the terrace and enjoy it with a few beers. The menu has a nice variety of regional specialties and traditional Biergarten fare. There is a very nice salad bar that is self service if you wanted to opt for something a bit lighter. The salmon trout with potato risotto was cooked perfectly, and the desserts were wonderful. The food on its own probably rates four stars, but when you add in the atmosphere and the views i think it deserves five.

Bad quality food at average prices. Although you pay for your food they charge €0,50 to use the toilet.

It was packed and we saw numerous people turned away. This restaurant is a two-person show - a husband and wife team. The wife is the chef and the husband does everything else from seating guests, taking the orders, fixing the drinks, serving the dishes and cleaning the tables...WOW!!! We ordered so much food. It was like a four-course tasting menu for two. Our selection consisted of the Hariri; Chicoree Orangen Salat; Gerostteter Blumenkohl; and Schweinebauch, Wilder Brokkoli, Kkarttooffel Wasabi Puree. The Harira arrived. It was a small bowl of Moroccan soup with a mixture of small pieces of vegetables in a delicious broth. The Orange Salad with endive lettuce was perfect with a nice topping of pecorino cheese. The third tasting of Roasted Cauliflower with a spicy sauce was delivered. Didn't know how I was going to like this dish because cauliflower is not one of my favorites. It was delicious. The last taste little dish arrived and it was another beauty - perfectly cooked pieces of pork belly with wasabi mashed potatoes with a bit of broccolini. Four excellent dished. Nothing left and no room dessert...next time and there will be a next time. Loved all of the tastes. Excellent service. Beautiful presentation. A great homey feel to the restaurant. Highly recommend making a reservation.

Go inside to find a spot to sit (be warned: the seat is a cushioned cylindrical bar but nevertheless comfortable enough to sit) or outside (there are chairs) to people-watch at the V-markt, take a look at limited selections (at the counter/in the restaurant/at the menu), and order with the waiter. I use limited here in the highest regard as they focus on making their dishes as delectable as possible. Case in point, we had the octopus and sepia salads, and both were flavorful with good amount of meat. Even though spaghetti with seafood is more pasta than seafood, the quality of the seafood (clams, bits of lobsters, sepia, etc.) was high. With a glass of their "Blanc de Blanc," we were at peace amidst a hectic environment. Prices were fair for what we got, so that's a win-win! Sadly, the only fail was their one dessert (we wanted to stay there longer that day...). Their creme brulee was served cold and a little stale, but who cares when the fish are so fresh? I walked out of there feeling relieved that I found my seafood haven.

The building is over 400 years old though don't worry, the rooms and beds are not. They've updated the rooms but kept the style and charm of the inn. We stayed here for a few days and loved our visit. The rooms are a decent size if you are just 2 people. For a family of 5, we needed 2 rooms. My wife and 2 of our kids stayed in the larger of the rooms which had a very nice bathroom, a small sitting area and then the bedding. I shared a standard room with my daughter which was a bit cramped, but certainly manageable. Complimentary breakfast is provided and it's a great spread of food every morning. See the pictures. There's also a great breakfast room to enjoy the food in. There's a restaurant on the main level of the inn. It is quite pricy so we didn't eat here. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. My entire family stayed here as we were in Germany for my brother's wedding, and the staff set up the breakfast tables so we could sit together before we even came in. How thoughtful. That's the difference between a place like The Marriott hotels and an inn like this. Parking is across the street. You are just across the street from a beautiful lake. Munich is about a 45 minute or so drive (not city center) and this inn is about 1 1/2 hours from the Neuschwanstein castle. Only downsides: No A/C which made it really toasty in the room on the hot summer days we stayed there and for a rural area, there's quite a bit of traffic on both streets this hotel sits on the intersection of.' Would TOTALLY stay here again!
