This review is long overdue...I found Olivenbauer on accident while taking an after dinner walk. We walked just outside the main town center, away from the mostly touristy restaurants. Inside you'll find comforting traditional Bavarian decor and furniture, and filled with real local Fussens. Not a single tourist in sight. This is where we should have eaten dinner. Unfortunately we were still stuffed from our touristy dinner, but we still made room for dessert and beer. Olivenbauer: The best apple strudel we had during our 2 week Germany-Austria vacation. I think it was only about 4€ and very worth it. There's also a variety of beers available for about 3€ or less. Despite us being the only tourists, and only having dessert and beer, the waitress was friendly. Its worth walk to Olivenbauer, eat here!

Really good Bavarian food paired with the worst service I've ever had in my life. I've heard the stories of rude German waitresses when dealing with Americans. I did my best to speak the four German words I knew. After my pronunciation was very rudely corrected, we were told we needed to eat and leave within the next 45 minutes. We ordered and received a few additional eye rolls from the waitress, as well as pointing and discussions from her and the manager. Apparently they both just tasted something terrible, because they had a terribly sour look on their face. I didn't want to order any of *that* dish. Anyway. The food was pretty solid. I'd probably go back. If you're German you are probably good to go. If you're an American tourist trying to experience another country, I hope you get a different set of wait staff and management than we had. At least you won't feel bad about not tipping.

Delicious food with really friendly staff, i can't help to wonder if the previous American tourists were the typical rude American. We had a great time before heading out to see the castles.

Great food. Better service. Wait staff made excellent suggestions for food, beer, and shots after the meal

We needed a quick easy dinner and this was close to our hotel. The food was good, but there are much better places in town.

I got the Calabrian bouillabase and my partner got the seafood tagliatelle, and both were amazing! The bouillabase was just the right amount of spicy with the Calabrian chiles, and it had huge pieces of 2 types of fish, giant prawns, oysters, clams, and shrimp. My partner liked the salmon and prawns in his pasta. Service was excellent, and the owners spoke German, Italian, English (and probably more languages given the region's proximity to multiple countries). We didn't have a dinner reservation so were seated outside on the charming patio (2 sections, one with heaters close to the restaurant, and the other further away with blankets).

The chef recommendations we had were all nice, including the tuna and swordfish carpaccio and the different seafood entrees we chose. The pizza was also very nice. Some of the staff were friendly and more attentive than others. We understood that we went on a busy night, but two tables who were seated quite a while after us both got their meals a long time before we did. Our appetisers took 70 minutes and our entrees took about 85 minutes to arrive. We asked about the food about an hour in and were told "it's very busy, you need to be patient". Only when we pointed out about the other two tables having eaten did our food arrive. BEWARE; they charge €6.50 for tap water! We questioned it and the woman said "it's not like America, it's normal here". Firstly, we are English and French, not American. Secondly it was our third night in Germany and our seventh time dining out and this was the ONLY place that charged for tap water! The food is also more expensive than anywhere else we ate at in Fussën. Good food but poor service from some of the staff. We went for dessert elsewhere.
