What a great place. Been here several times over the years. First off it's huge.....four floors in total. The shop is loaded with new Comic Books, old Comic Books , Magazines, hard to find DVDS, CDS, Rock n Roll memorabilia and lots of other goodies. I picked up a great 1/6 scale fully articulated Green Lantern figure which I had never scene before. This place has been open a long time and I highly recommend this place when you visit Pittsburgh

We were walking through the city, on our way somewhere else when we noticed Eide's. Anything entertainment-related will stop my fiancé in his tracks and bring him into the store. Even though I'm not much of a comic book/collector person, I don't mind browsing so we decided to check it out. The selection is pretty impressive. DVDs, VHS, video games, comics, figures... You want it, they probably have it. They also had vintage/antique shelves too. Everything was pretty dirt cheap too, so it seems like you're getting a pretty good deal for what it's worth. This is a cool store to check out if that's the kind of stuff you're into.

I remember coming to Eide's somewhat often when I lived in Pittsburgh. I remember it having a slight reputation for having, maybe, not the nicest of staff or the most helpful, but I still went because this place had so much to offer that, in the event that I had a bad customer service experience (which I didn't), it didn't matter because I found something amazing. On a recent trip back home I knew I wanted to stop there and see what it was like now; had they gotten things I just needed to pack in my carry-on bag ( I was praying so). Now, if you are new to Eide's, know this: it's freaking enormous. It's like a department store for pretty much everything entertainment related; from movies, books, vinyl, toys, comics, and on and on and on. You can't just rush in and out here. You've got to take your time and look. Like thrifting for that perfect retro shirt. You've got to put in time before you strike gold. The main floor where you enter has their current cd's, some vinyl and old magazines like Rolling Stone. One thing to keep in mind: each floor is separate, you'll need to leave your bag each time you enter a new floor. The way I've always done it- not sure if it's right but, if I buy something on one floor, it doesn't go to one checkout- you pay at that specific floor which I think is what they want. Only downside is that you're making a bunch of transactions instead of just one, but whatever honestly. If you have the money in your account I suppose it's not an issue? Ok, anyway... The basement floor would be where the comics are and some various toy ranging from new to retro, this also applies to the comics as well. The top floor has collectible vinyl, dvds, some VHS as well and an adult section. Below the top floor has a large selection of used CD's. Each floor I was greeted by a separate employee. Everyone was friendly, helpful and seemingly happy to wait on me. I didn't need much assistance, but I was offered by a few employees. It was nice. The vibe here was laidback and chill. I didn't feel any pressure to buy anything or like I was being pressured to leave because I didn't have anything in my hand. In the end, I found a used CD and a vinyl record- both in great condition. I left a happy customer and every time I'm back home, I'm stopping at Eide's to pick myself up a treat because I know they'll have something I need or want.

This comic book store is nothing short of mythical. I'm not joking. I've been to a LOT of comic book stores in my life. They are generally awesome places, as they are full of the best kinds of people on the whole, that being people who read comics. I would say 2% of comic book stores are even "bad" and even then... They're trying to get better. Then, 95% is "a really good comic book store". But this place. THIS PLACE. This is exactly my basement, except 2000% larger. It's the last 3% ... This place, is LEGENDARY. There might be a million comics in here. AND they have vinyl, video games, action figures, DVDs, VHS, in every cool genre and geeky niche. The people who run it are friendly, conversational, self-deprecating & funny, and they love this place. Everyone should go, even if you don't read or buy comics. Go talk to someone there, tell them what you're into, and let them pick out your perfect book. If you know me, I'm a Philadelphian through and through...I can pass on almost everything Pittsburgh. This place however, makes me actually, honestly, jealous.

I always stop by Eide's when I'm in Pittsburgh. I always walk away with at least one or two action figures.

I can always find something I'm interested in for $10 or less. Jerry's is a third place to me. It's a must visit every time I'm back in Pittsburgh! Jerry's is estimated to have over 500,000 records. Here's what I've learned from my two years in Pittsburgh to help sort through the collection: 1. Best sellers are located upfront. Normally there's a few of each artist: The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, Aerosmith, and many more. Price range between $20-60 2. For people starting out, Jerry's has a lot of well known albums and artists for $7-8 a record. Common finds: Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Santana, REO Speedwagon, Jefferson Starship/Jefferson Airplane, Elton John, STYX, and Chicago. 3. Huge Christmas selection in the $3-20 range. They likely have what you're looking for. My boyfriend's mom was looking for Christmas with Mitch for many years. She found 8 copies at Jerry's Records in less than 15 minutes. 4. There's a large Broadway and musical soundtrack section tucked in the corner down the first hallway on the right. Normally they are about $5-15. 5. Before checking out, look at the record and sleeve for damages. From experience, most priced above $7 play really well. They may have a few crackles, but a quick wash takes most of that away. Things in the $3 range are risky.

Excellent selection and friendly knowledgeable staff. Could be a dangerous place without a spending…read morelimit!!!

We weren't greeted at all- or acknowledged so for a place that was voted PGH best record store- not sure. We went to the store a few days ago and felt that the young lady was fair in the offer she gave us for the few items we brought in to sell. As a result, we thought it was safe to bring the rest of my collection all at once tonight. Unfortunately, my husband and I truly feel like a fast one was played on us. We brought well over 50 items into the store. After waiting approximately 45 minutes for the three associates to look over the items, the young man called us to the counter to let us know that they were only interested in purchasing quote, unquote just a few things. He pointed to a bag sitting behind the counter that was stuffed to the top with my collectibles and said that they were not interested in hardly any of the action figures or collectible figurines. He then pointed over to a shelf which only appeared to have 12 items tops and said these are the few things that we are interested in purchasing. His offer was $20 store credit or $16 cash. Thinking it was only if you items I took the offer and brought my throne about collection back to my car. I just got back to my house and realized that I was never given a receipt showing what exactly they bought in the price they gave me for each item. On top of that, when I went through my collection that was hardly stuffed in the bag I found it was more like 25 to 30 items most of which were my action figures and collectible figurines. Needless to say I am not happy in the least. I have been searching online and all through the website looking for a contact form or an email. I would really like to formally document my complaint and dissatisfaction. Oh well... I guess I am going to just have to personally go into the store tomorrow to the bottom of this. I'll be sure to keep you posted on how the situation develops and the resolution presented... If any Grrrrrr
