When I feel yechy for more than a day, I seek medical help. I learned my lesson when what I…read morethought was a cold, ended up being pneumonia. Without a doctor in PA -- and one I'm not jumping for joy about in FL -- I pulled up urgent care facilities. Main Line seemed the most reputable. Plus it's close. I was very pleased with care rendered and the personnel I dealt with. The receptionist was polite, the nurse professional, the doctor competent and pleasant. My questions were patiently answered, and I left with a gameplan. The reality is, with a practice based primarily on walk-ins, you'll likely have to wait. Expect it! I told the nurse about my history with pneumonia. (I actually had it twice.) Without question, the x-ray tech came for me and took two images, which were read before I met with the doctor. The facility is hooked up to Epic, which is important. They were able to see my medical history, prescriptions, etc. When I got home I received a link inviting me to sign up for My Chart -- also important for continuity of care. The facility has what you need, decent hours AND there's a big parking lot in the back, which I see is a big deal in Philadelphia.

I said "How is it that they would need to see me for you to find out if they're knowledgeable about a certain condition?" She just kept repeating herself, like that answered whether or not they know about X. I asked if they could email that office directly to find out and she said no. "You can't send them an email?" "No" "So if your practice can't respect my time and resources upfront, you'd prefer that I potentially waste yours with a visit that you can't help with?" Some business have archaic and draconian practices.

This is by far the least professional doctor's office I have ever been to and I will be finding a…read morenew primary care provider immediately. My first visit, I called ahead to see what would be required for a check up and to transfer my prescriptions from my previous PCP. They assured me that I would be able to do this quickly and easily. I arrived and was then told by a doctor that I required lab work before a proper check up, which could take weeks and would have to be done at a site about 2 miles away. My doctor also was not familiar with one of my (very common) prescriptions but said she would look into it further for my next visit. After leaving, I found the doctor had written the wrong dosage on my one prescription she DID write. I called to have this amended but nothing came of it. The whole facility uses analog records that are stacked haphazardly throughout the building, and on my second visit it took over 20 minutes and a kerfuffle between the doctor and the receptionist to find them (apparently still on the doctors desk from when I called two months prior to change my dosage). When I returned after weeks of being off my medication and waiting on bloodwork that was never confirmed as received, the doctor informed me that they were "uncomfortable" prescribing me the medication at all, despite passing the screening, and that I would have to visit a different facility to get my prescription. After I expressed my discomfort, the doctor left the office abruptly and did not return, indicating the session was over. This is a pitiful excuse for a doctor's office, and I would encourage anyone to seek treatment elsewhere unless you have no other option.
