We sampled a few flavors before settling on a small mango sherbet and toasted banana bread. The mango was bright, refreshing, and just what we needed to balance out the richness of the toasted banana bread. The banana bread flavor leaned more caramel than banana, but it was still deliciously indulgent. A fun little stop for a sweet treat--and the friendly service definitely made it even better!

B3: One of their signature flavors, named for its blend of brown butter, brown sugar, and brownie. The ice cream was smooth and creamy, with the sweetness of the brown sugar and the nutty aroma of the brown butter blending harmoniously. Large chunks of brownie are interspersed throughout, their firm texture and slightly bitter dark chocolate contrasting beautifully with the ice cream, creating a layered effect. Deserving of the signature flavor! Earl Grey: Another signature flavor, but after tasting it for a while, I couldn't observe any tea flavor. I even wondered if the server had given me the wrong one The color didn't look like Earl Grey tea either. However, judging from the reviews, it probably does look like this. The milky flavor, though, was very rich. Burnt Caramel: It was my first time seeing "burnt caramel," which is essentially sugar caramelized to a higher temperature than caramel, resulting in a darker color and a richer, more intense bitterness. While I love bitterness, I felt it was a bit too much. Most importantly, the ice cream was noticeably stickier than the others, and the plastic scoop was too soft, making it difficult to scoop. Bourbon Street: Quite similar with B3, both using brown sugar and browned butter. However, the bourbon and praline made the overall flavor sweeter, lighter, and more in line with the classic creamy taste of ice cream. In other words, it was not as distinctive as the B3.

White Mountain is unique, with creative flavors and weekly rotating specials. I really loved the Mexican chocolate, alongside the fruity creamy raspberry and perfectly crunchy chocolate chips. On top of it all, the girls who work there were so sweet. Highly recommend White Mountain Creamery.

We trooped from the North End to Chestnut Hill to check out White Mountain Creamery. We arrived around 11:30pm and super happy they close late, at 12am every day!! The staff were all super nice and helpful. All of their ice cream is homemade and you can definitely taste it when you try their ice cream. We all got small sizes: one with a scoop of cake batter + scoop of oreo, one strawberry, and one orange sherbet. They all were delicious and definitely satisfied our ice cream craving. Their interior aesthetic made me feel like I was stopping in at an ice cream joint in the middle of New Hampshire or Vermont haha I loved it. I also noticed they do mini ice cream cakes... ADORABLE. I'm most definitely coming back to try their mini ice cream cakes & for more ice cream!

I also appreciate the risks they take with new flavors. There are vegan and dairy free options as well as cakes and pints to go. Love this place. The kids at the service counter are sweet. Rancatores prices have notably increased over the last few years (up to $7.50 for a small!), but I have remained a loyal customer due to the ice cream's superior quality. However, as serving sizes have become less generous alongside rising prices, it is becoming increasingly difficult to justify my patronage. Last Sunday, I went to the Rancatores Belmont location and received the following serving for a small. I included the (normal-sized) plastic spoon for scale to demonstrate the minuscule size of the scoops. It's one thing to say that a small is two scoops (though it is not described as such), but even if you believe that, two half-sized scoops does not cut it! I love Rancatores, but I was left feeling upset and robbed after my last visit. I want this local business to succeed, but I hope they can better control the quantity and quality of their product. Until then, I fear I will be staying away from Rancatores.

My previous favorite was Amorino, but I think this place is a step above. The texture of the ice cream was superb--exquisitely smooth and creamy, yet not as sticky as Amorino. Coconut: Coconut ice cream in the U.S. is always legendary, but this was the pinnacle of the legendary. The aroma of coconut and milk was the richest I've ever tasted, and it felt very natural, with just the right amount of sweetness. Naked Yogurt: Similar in design to Amorino's Yogurt & 0% Fat Yogurt, both were pure, rich, and unsweetened yogurt, but this one had a more intense milky flavor. Espresso Mascarpone: The signature flavor. The bittersweet aroma of espresso was distinct yet mellow, but the presence of mascarpone cheese is limited. Very refreshing. Other flavors: Pistachio had a rich pistachio flavor and was a safe choice; Tiramisu and Dulce de Leche were both a bit too sweet. From this perspective, Amorino seems to offer a more well-rounded experience, but I still prefer the surprising quality of this place. The sorbets were all decorated with fruit, making them especially beautiful. If you try too many samples, the staff might get a little annoyed. I was reminded after trying the fourth flavor, so I reluctantly stopped.
