My friend and I were in the mood for fro-yo and we found this place online with amazing reviews. We came in with high hopes given the amount of rave reviews, and seeing they had a 5 star rating! Truly, hats off to them because that is extremely hard to do. Now for our visit: * We came here for fro-yo and when my friend ordered a small chocolate fro-yo, they proceeded to let her try the chocolate hard ice cream. Me and her were both confused in the moment * While she was eating her sample of the chocolate hard ice cream, they said there's no fro-yo, only hard ice cream * I then tried the chocolate hard ice cream since there was no fro-yo and it tasted like freezer burned chocolate ice cream, so on a whim I got a kiddie sized cookies & cream with rainbow sprinkles * The cookies & cream tub was nearly hitting the bottom (signifying an empty level) and the flavor of the cookies & cream was also freezer burned and tasteless so I can't help but wonder if these ice cream tubs had been sitting there for a while. Neither the chocolate nor cookies & cream tasted fresh, and the consistency was really off (see photos) * I was given my kiddie cup of cookies & cream and wanted sprinkles, which was a self service for me to add toppings. That part also surprised me since you wonder the cleanliness of this (for example, some people might take their ice cream and put it in upside down to add sprinkles to their cup, or use their hands who knows) or in my case, I tried using the spoon to top off my ice cream and so many sprinkles went everywhere. I felt so bad for the mess it made on the counter!! Most fro-yo places are self service when it comes to toppings, but this felt interesting for us to put our own toppings on hard ice cream * I cleaned up the sprinkles that fell on the counter, only to have a hard time opening the trash since it had dried up ice cream all over it. It was covered with dry ice cream all on the top and sides of the bin. An idea would be to use a foot pedal trash can so it doesn't require people to touch the physical trash bin like I had to * The staff was super nice + maybe this was an off day because it's the winter, and I'm sure the fro-yo really is good. This place is hidden gem!! (At least it was for me) I always pass by here on my runs, but this store in particular is sort of blocked by a tree so I never noticed it. We found out about FruttiBerri from some of our Yelp Elite friends who also live in Watertown. Everything the other reviews have said is true. The owner is the nicest guy ever. He immediately offered us some really generous samples. We tried chocolate, vanilla, cardamom, saffron rose, and pomegranate. My favorites were saffron rose and cardamom. I think saffron rose is their most popular flavor. Pomegranate was good, too! It was a bit too sour for my taste, but combined with another flavor it is really good. The large size ($12) is HUGE. We ate the whole thing between me and my wife, but we were stuffed afterwards. Nonetheless, eating a lot didn't feel too bad because it was frozen yogurt and not as creamy as ice cream. But I'd like to tell you about their nutritious & delicious homemade Chicken Noodle and Red Lentil soups that they make to order served in $6.00 take-out pint containers. You can get them only by ordering one day in advance -- to ensure they don't sit on the shelf unsold for too long [because this is mainly an ice cream shop, most don't know of this homemade soup option... kind of a hidden menu item]. We have been going here for a while now. It's our favorite frozen treat in the area. We just took some friends this weekend, and they asked some great questions, that helped us learn more about the business. My go-to is the saffron rose. I enjoy the flavor combo. My partner liked it when the owner did the two flavors separately, but I like both. We've also enjoyed other flavors, such as pistachio, with pistachios on top, which gives good texture and salty sweet contrast. The owner told us that "dizin" is actually a ski resort in Iran. He also told us that the ice cream style is Persian. I have been curious for a while, and finally tried a flavor I had been eyeing- which looks to have pieces of rice inside. I personally enjoyed the flavor- it was more icy, and he says was a very old/ancient recipe. He also said that he typically would combine it with saffron rose. Having been to Mashti Malone in LA, we were missing Persian ice cream flavors in Boston area. We found Natural FruttiBerri on our way home and got excited. Honestly, this review is long overdue. I've drove past this awesome, cute, little ice cream shop for years. It always caught my attention but I finally made it a point to come visit for date night after a nice dinner. The man in the register is SUPER nice. As soon as we walked in, he greeted us enthusiastically and offered samples immediately. He gave us four different flavors to taste, vanilla, chocolate, saffron and rose petal. We had never tried the latter two but we loved the taste after sampling them. They're sweet and leave a nice aromatic sense too. While we had the samples, the man at the shop taught us that saffron ice cream is popular in Turkey and rose petal ice cream is a popular flavor in India. He was funny and personable and allowed us to learn something new. I can't recommend this place enough. I've decided to bring any family/friends that visit me here to try these amazing new flavors. It is a treat to walk into this store! The owners are so very friendly. You are greeted with a big smile and a cheery "Hello". Next, you are automatically offered 1-2 samples of their ice-cream. This whole greeting sets the tone just right! As for the ice-cream, they usually have at least 6+ flavors. And now, by the virtue of samples or buying it in bulk, I must have tried out all of them and they are all delicious. Coconut-taro and peach-mango are some of my favorites. But taking first place is their rose water-saffron ice-cream, a traditional Persian flavor. They have unique flavors (such as the ones listed here) as well as the typical ones (coffee, chocolate) - something for every one. You can then customize yours with various toppings, if you like. At the end, they weigh your bowl and let you know how much it costs. One of the best things I like about the store is that I can get my own container and fill it up - I love establishments that understand your preferences and accommodate them. Other points to note: There are a few seats in the store to eat in. They do not have cones (I wish they did!). Parking is available on the street. It's a must try! read more

My friend asked me how I found this place. Well, we were having dinner down the street, so I just yelped for a dessert place nearby, and voila - Dizin FruttiBerri! The shop was staffed by a cheerful welcoming fellow who offered me sample cups - ah, he knew the way to my heart! So I sampled all 7 flavors they had that day: Rose Water and Zafran Traditional Persian Ice Cream, Vanilla, Chocolate, Mango, Taro, Pomegranate, Coconut. I found a few to be rather icy, so the day's winners in my book were the Rose Water and Zafran, Vanilla, and Taro. Admittedly, this was a bit of a shocker to me, since I had been convinced last year that perhaps Rose Water was just not one of my things. Perhaps it is only the case when the use of the flavor is too heavy handed... good to know! Topping included 5 types of fruit, and a variety of candies, cereals, and nuts. I opted out since I tend to match my creamy goodness with toppings, and these didn't quite do it for me. But still I came out with 7.2 oz in my cup for 49 cents per ounce. But as we sat enjoying our frozen treats in one of a handful of seats, a (returning) couple came in and got their cup filled halfway special from the back room, so curious me, I chatted with them and took a peek, and saw an interesting pink concoction generously studded with thin white strands. It was Faloodeh, and those worms? Rice noodles. I tried the pink version (sour cherry) and found it a nice sherbetlike treat and so good with the other froyo flavors in my cup. But I noticed it in white (plain, aka lime), rosewater, well, in a variety of colors and flavors in the freezer, packed and ready to go. The shopkeeper assured me that his Faloodeh is gluten free and dairy free. They are open till 9pm most nights, and have a single unisex bathroom - great for handwashing for when you need more than the gel sanitizer that they have readily available. The only lack I could see on this visit was no courtesy water (which is often available at ice cream shops) for sipping or rinsing out your mouth after finishing your frozen sweet treat, though they do have bottle water available for sale. I noticed another business profile for the same address listed in Yelp under "FruttiBerri." The current iteration of the shop has been in business since March or April. read more

BAH BAH BAH! This is the best frozen yogurt I have ever had in my life. Being Persian, many of these flavors taste like home, and you don't find them anywhere else. The owners were so kind and let us try anything we wanted. I had a cup with Pistachio Tahini Honey, Pomegranate, and Rose Water & Saffron which is traditional Persian ice cream. I also tried the Parsley flavor which was surprisingly tasty. They also have a freezer full of ice cream and falludeh which is another persian dessert with rice noodles, rose water and lime. From the freezer, I picked up a little dish of the Saffron ice cream topped with chunks of baklava. WOW it was so delicious. This is truly the best place. I can't wait to come back!!!
