The experience at Eixampeling was simply amazing!! We were just going to give it a try and we loved it! The ambiance was really cute with a lot of flower decor and colorful seating options. The menu was great! So many options to choose from, you can either end the sweet cravings or get something salty too. It was so difficult to choose because everything sounded delicious. We ended up going for their "Batter the devil you know" ( delicious red velvet pancakes with berries that made them a great choice!) and "Don't worry churro up" (a spongy amazing waffle full of fruits on top and covered with chocolate to give it an outstanding flavor!). They were both to die for and highly recommend!!! For drinks, I got the Pistachio Latte that was so delicious!!! They have such high rating, we came to try driving 20 minutes. A bit disappointed. 1. Drinks: too sugary, not healthy, looks beautiful 2. Food: barely 2 stars Our food looked good. But the guacamole was like 3 days old or something, it was dark green, super sour and tasted funny. What bothered me more was my neighboring table full of white people had ordered guac and it was so fresh. I hate discriminating and I hate serving non-fresh items to paying customers. This was an interesting all day brunch place. Food - Meh. Their bagel with guacamole was good, but they gave us at least day-old guacamole while the customers next to us were served fresh guacamole. Not very good. Their "unicorn lemonade" was good, it has two cups which you mix together to make a lemonade. It comes with two paper straws, one of which has cotton candy on it. Service - Not great. Parking - No parking lot outside, could be difficult to find, but the Barcelona metro is incredible, so that is a better alternative to driving. Overall, this place is decent. read more

If you want pretty pics & a decent meal, then definitely stop by here if you're in the area Service- it was okay... they weren't ignoring my party but I've definitely had better service in other places. The only reason I came by was my friend was curious about this place the ambiance so I just wanted to come by earlier to check it out. I kept my expectations so low but I was not ready for the food to be THIS GOOD. I literally felt every ingredient in my mouth. My wife picked this place and it was a great choice. We both had bagel sandwiches. I had "Sweet dreams are made of cheese" and the breakfast was fantastic. Loaded with bacon, egg, and dripping in cheese, it is topped with a tomato jam that adds the perfect sweetness. I was not alone in my assessment, as both my wife and daughter tasted it and agreed it was delicious. This place was SO good. Five stars for the food. I got the carrot cake shake and it came with a full slice of carrot cake on top, best shake I've ever had. All four people in our group had some type of Benedict and we all loved it! Only downsides were 1) the power went out three times while we were eating, but they turned the lights back on quickly 2) they didn't bring out one of the Irish coffees until we were all done eating even after mentioning it twice and 3) one of the dishes was supposed to have avocado on it, and when we asked for the avocado it didn't come until the food was gone, and then they tried charging us for "extra avocado" until we finally cleared it up with them that it was supposed to come with it. After missing out on two other restaurants in Barcelona for brunch because they were non-existent, I found myself at this establishment where the food (from the ordinary eye) looked incredible. The problem was I never tried it. I should have known that it wasn't going to be a great experience when it took 15 min to order our coffee and water in a rather occupied yet already served patrons restaurant. After ordering our coffee and food - we waited about 40 min while watching several large tables, that were seated after us, get their entire meals. After explaining to the server our frustrations - he did offer us a free coffee but my problem was never to pay for my coffee rather - I wanted the coffee I ordered almost an hour ago at that point. We were so fed up and offended by the service that we actually decided to leave. In my years of experience of working at a restaurant as a teenager I am very relaxed when it comes to service and frankly I was appalled. I still can't believe it but I'm enjoying my freshly made empanadas at Rekons if you are looking for a place that is good, cheap, and has great service. read more

Eixampeling is very Instagram chic, not the type of restaurant I would normally seek out. They have not one, but TWO floral walls with cursive neon art, and the entire place looks like Alice in Wonderland threw a baby shower. But then again, who doesn't enjoy a little kitsch every so often? The menu is pun-tastic, with funny little names like Beyonc-egg and Crustina Egguleira. They had a fantastic assortment of fresh juices and coffee drinks, as well as brunch cocktails and freakshakes. The serving sizes are massive and easily shareable, which I would probably do next time as we were all way too stuffed to partake in the yummy looking desserts in their display case. I had their version of a smoked salmon Benny and could barely finish half! I loved the extra touches of the hot pink drizzle and fresh flowers as garnish - not necessary but much appreciated! This is a wonderful place to get a delicious meal BEAUTIFULLY presented (with fresh flowers as garnish, no less) and some really incredible homemade cakes! (That alone is reason to come in.) Not only that, but they have a selection of artisan made, rainbow-colored matcha lattes that are truly natural in color and flavor -- amazing! I was there twice recently and enjoyed good service and excellent meals. The location is not right in the center of the tourist areas (which frankly, is a plus in my book as it's on a street with local small businesses, not global chains) but it's not that much further afield and is in a very easy spot to get to on foot or with a quick cab ride. There are lots of wonderful restaurants in Barcelona, and this one definitely makes the list and is worth a visit! read more

Being the #2 ranked restaurant on TripAdvisor Barcelona out of 9,131 restaurants, AND it being located just 0.1 mile from my AirBnB, I HAD to try this place. 570 of the 664 reviews are 5 stars. So why is Yelp! at just 3.5 stars. Well, for starters, there's only 9 reviews (10, counting mine). The reviewers that shot this place down complained mostly of service, time to wait, etc. But it also seems they went at the busiest times. I came here on a Thursday at 12:30pm. I was seated right away and got my drink and food very promptly. The place definitely filled up by the time I left an hour and a half later (traditional lunch time in this part of the world is 2pm-4pm), but I never felt pressured to leave. I was able to update social media posts using the free WiFi and felt comfortable just hanging out. The food! I asked for a recommendation and the server said the Jerusal-eggs dish was the most popular. In his words, "if you can handle the strong flavors, you'll really enjoy this." I love spicy food, and this course delivered nicely. It wasn't too overbearing, but yes, the Middle Eastern flavors were vibrant on the tongue and I enjoyed every bite, wiping the bowl clean with the soft sticks of bread. The customers were a mix of tourists and locals. And while the prices seem reasonable (entrees starting at €6,95) they get you on the bacon, avocado and other add-ons (at about €2 per pop), and my soda was €2.50 x 2 cans. I was on the fence about whether to add avocado or bacon, so of course I added bacon, because 1) bacon goes with everything; and 2) I'm in BCN! I may head back there before I depart, but with 9,130 more restaurants on TA's list, hmmm, I don't know. But try this place! It's about a 10-15 minute walk from Las Ramblas - one of the main tourist thoroughfares in BCN - and worth the stroll. read more

The food looks amazing; unfortunately, we weren't able to actually eat anything because our food never came. We were seated quite quickly on Saturday morning. Shortly after, we placed an order of two meals, coffee, and water--a fairly simply order. However, 35 minutes later, we had not received any of our order--NOT EVEN THE WATER. Moreover, every single table that came after us received their food--including a table of 7 people. The waiter was apologetic, but blamed the mistake on a kitchen error... A kitchen error for failing to bring us even water? To be fair, the server offered us a coffee on the house. But after more than 50 minutes sitting in that place, they should have offered us our meal. Absolutely no excuse for this service. We will NOT be trying this place again. read more
