We ran into this brunch spot right by our hotel and were pleasantly surprised! The inside was so cute and the menu had so many options. All the food was presented beautifully and we loved how the straws had the name of the cafe on them. For drinks, we had the mango matcha, chai, and orange juice. My mango matcha wasn't bad and my friend loved her chai. For food, we had the avocado benny, bagel sandwich, and some other type of sandwich. Note; I went to the Laietana location but they don't have a Yelp page. The atmosphere was beautiful. Everything I ate and drank was delicious and our server Nicolas was amazing. The Big Brekkie Burrito was super cute, with letter cutouts of "C", "A", "K", "E" toothpicks and a swipe of colorful yogurt on the plate. The scrambled eggs came in a seedy bagel, with a generous dollop of hummus on the side. My favorite were the confetti pancakes - it was topped galore with fruit (strawberries, mangoes, blueberries, sprouts), crunchy brunchy things (pumpkin, sunflower, granola, almonds) , and the most delicious dollop of tart ice cream. I was surprised by lack of syrup, but the sweetness from the fruit and ice cream was perfect. Coffee was fantastic as well. This wasn't their fault but the loudest construction was happening on the street and it was pretty unpleasant. We ordered lattes which were fine. One of them had a big scoop of ice cream in them and I don't think we realized what we were ordering so some thing maybe got lost in translation. The food here was also just fine. Again, it was beautifully plated and presented like the avocado toast had a swirl, and was very colorful. When we actually ate the food, it was pretty lacking in flavor and overall just kind of whatever. If you want to go somewhere for Instagram, and that is the sole reason you're going somewhere, you should go here. But if you want to eat something delicious in Barcelona, and there's so many places where you can, this is not really a place I would recommend. read more

I have been coming to Brunch & Cake for 10 years, ever since I was studying abroad in Barcelona. The food has always been delicious and it keeps me coming back. The reason for giving the place 3 stars instead of 5 is because of the waitstaff, specifically a tall waiter with long and curly hair. Every single time I go, I have the unfortunate luck of getting him as a waiter. He is the most rude waiter I have ever met: - throws the QR code menu and WiFi chips at you; - makes rude comments about the table you choose to sit; - rushes you to finish your food and tries to rush you into ordering; - and makes homophobic and racist comments not knowing I know Spanish and Catalan. I never said anything or called him out because I don't want to take on his negative energy. The service was so noticeably bad that another nice and kind colleague of his had to step in and take over the service of the table. I am now choosing to go to My Friend Coffee instead.
