Tried this place for the first time Saturday night. Food was great. We both ordered poke bowls spicy tuna, but mine was with katsu chicken. Chicken was very good and breading was crunchy. We also had an order of boa buns with pork belly. They were delicious. The food came pretty quick after we ordered. Place was clean. First of all right off the back customer service is amazingly, friendly and helpful and really gets things done at a great pace now second of all the food is top-tier freshly made, and you could tell it was made with love and that is the best food you could have. I would rate it more of a 3.5, but it was solid. The lady working at the register was kind and accommodating. She asked if we wanted a glass of water for our meal. When she brought the food she brought napkins and duck sauce. We each got an entree and made it into a bento box, I believe it was about $3 more to do so. The spring roll was good, but tiny. The salad was okay, but I've had better Japanese salads. The noodles were very flavorful. The chicken katsu was good. The rice was rice. We also each received a piece of fried milk which was unexpected but tasty. All our food was served in takeout containers and served with a plastic fork. I could have used a knife. The highlight was definitely the amount of food. I would go back, I think the value for amount of food is great. This was my first time eating at EKIBEN House and it was a very enjoyable experience! Establishment was clean and the menu was extensive with many of my favorite Korean and Asian dishes! Everything was fresh made and hot. It is a very casual environment, more like a café, but the counter Staff was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning. I was excited to try this place for lunch so I placed an order for pickup. I arrived exactly when the order was stated to be ready. It was 1 pm and I was order 8. Three items, a Crunch Roll, Shumai and Taro Boba Tea. When I arrived there was another gentleman there waiting for his food. Order 7 perhaps? I was told when I checked in with the woman behind the counter that my order was not ready yet, that my Crunch roll was what I was waiting for. While waiting, the other gentleman got his order and left. Turns out my Crunch Roll and Shumai were ready, the woman had just not made my boba tea yet. She began making it after she handed the gentleman his order. The Crunch roll was bland. The bubble tea very uneventful and watered down. The shumai was passable. Reasonably priced. Service, eh. My friend and I stopped in for a different experience in restaurants. The place was spotless! The delicious smells that greeted you as you walked in were fresh and not overbearing. I had the pork bento bowl and my friend had a lemongrass chicken and rice bowl. Both were exceptionally delicious and very fresh! We will definitely be back again!! Friday afternoon, my wife and I tried EkiBen House  right next to Little Caesars Pizza and behind Metro Diner at 19400 Cochran Blvd Unit #2, Port Charlotte. It's kind of tucked away and hard to see, but it is well worth checking out. The first thing we noticed when we walked in is that the place is spotlessly clean.  It's not a large place with only about 10 tables.  The ordering counter is straight to the back and slightly to the right.  They have paper menus at the counter, but you can also look on the wall, as they have their most popular dishes displayed. One thing to note, their menu is extensive and they have several proteins that are prepared about the same way, but displayed differently.  It will take some time for me to understand all this since I am unfamiliar with Japanese foods. As far as I can tell, this is pretty authentic fare. My wife does not like much spice, but ordered the honey chicken with sweet and hot sauce.   She ordered the sauce on the side.  I ordered Beef and Broccoli.  However, I like hot and spicy food and the server suggested some hot chili oil, which was a good call!  BTW, the service was GREAT and the staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions.  I also ordered the Miso Soup and some fried Gyoza (I've never had that) They also gave us some free apps of a couple of spring rolls and a couple of dumplings of fried milk.  Never had that either, but it is TASTY!  In fact, everything was great.  It was not oily and if anything, if kind of was a little bit bland.  My suspicion is that is how Japanese food is, and to spice things up, you would put on their sauces.  They have more than we tried, I just have to get used to what they have. We will be back!  The portion sizes were large and the price was VERY reasonable.  Like us, I know you would like it if you tried it.  It is definitely different from Chinese food, but that is a GOOD THING when you want to try Japanese cuisine. First try of a Japanese restaurant. Very clean, surprised that it was set up more like a takeout restaurant. I don't eat seafood and not crazy about steak unless I'm in the mood for it. Sam offered the Hunan beef made with chicken and opted for vegetable fried rice bowl. Wife tried crab raggoon and shrimp with vegetables. Was served very fast and very hot. The udon with Crispy tofu is probably my favorite here. It's not a super healthy dish but very satisfying and comforting. I love how Crispy they get the outside of the tofu. The sauce is delicious and noodles perfection. They have a nice variety of menu items as well. Always friendly service and quick as they can be. When I worked in Port charlotte I would have lunch here at least once a week. read more

Had lunch here on Thursday. Place is clean and staff is friendly. started with the pork dumpling, they were served got and tasty, 7 pieces in the order. We both went with Ramen for our meal, I had the pork belly and my wife had the chicken. the broth was full of favor along with being loaded with noodles and veggies, we held the mushrooms. my wife loved the chicken and had enough to bring home for another meal. my pork belly was tender, tasty and a good fat content.  they also gave us 2 fried dumpling for desert that were great, not sure what was in them but they golden brown and sweet inside. read more

One of the worst things we've ever eaten! My husband took a bite of The yellowtail and immediately spit it out! It had a fishy smell and was sticky! The eel was decent. The Ramen was horrible!! I like this place. It's in between a Chinese takeout place and a sit down Japanese hibachi restaurant. Food: I had a hibachi and a lo mein dish and they were both great. The Beef bulgogi was also yummy. If they decides to dine in, the food will be served in dishes and with silverware. They have fountain soda, bottled soda, and I believe bubble tea as well. Price: great prices. I think my average was ~$12 Service: awesome service and the food comes out fast like a takeout restaurant. I just love that it's not on disposable plates. Atmosphere: nicely decorated. Not a quiet first date restaurant but more of a casual let's grab something quick to eat place. Cleanliness: restaurant and bathroom are clean. I love that we have an option other than Chinese if you want quick Asian food now. This was my second visit to this location since it opened. The first time I tried their teriyaki bento box. This time it was beef bulgogi. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was prettily put together, and the taste was great. I loved the spiciness of the bulgogi, and found their portions to be just perfect. I'll definitely be returning to try more menu items, and next time I won't forget to order some boba tea, too. read more

Very cute spot in Port Charlotte. You order from the register and sit down to eat. We ordered three bento boxes, 2 pork katsu and one shrimp & veggie tempura. The portion is huge with salad, egg roll, Lo mein and sushi. The pork katsu is very flavorful ! Salad is awesome with the ginger dressing. The noodles were bouncy & flavorful. The tempura was made well and crispy. We also ordered Japanese beef croquettes, soooo yummy! Filled with mashed potatoes & minced beef. Also ordered the pork belly bao, very good! Pork belly was meaty/fatty! We also got a free Japanese fried milk! It was amazing! Not too sweet and filled with condensed milk & bits of rice. One last dish we got was Gyudon beef with eggs & onions. It was huge and flavor wise was decent. Didn't have the typical flavors I'm used to but still good. In the end we ordered a Thai Iced tea but it's not the typical fresh tea. She did use the tea but the tasting was off. We just stick with the food over the boba drinks. First timer, called in order. They where polite and repeated order. My wife got a Washington roll , and 3 different sashimi. Bulgogi beef in rice bowl, it came with fresh fruit. Signature Poke Tuna bowl over mixed greens. Food ready in 20 minutes. Very polite check out, offered multiple sauces, and kimchi. Food was neatly packed in nice containers, chop sticks. Over all food quality and presentation was very good, very nice flavors. The menu offers great options, you can get low carb meal, or your standard complete meal. Very reasonable prices. After hearing from my brother in law about how good this place was I had to check it out myself. My first visit was good, I had the cilantro chicken (amazing) and my wife had the crispy honey chicken (really good). The staff is very nice, the restaurant is very clean and I have nothing but great things to say about the food. We decided to order again tonight my son got the crispy honey chicken, I tried the teriyaki chicken (wow!) and my wife had the dumplings. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. I love the safety precautions they're taking for COVID. It's very clean inside and dine in is open as well as carry out. I always get sushi and a hibachi bowl here. The boba tea is also really good. The prices are great too! This is probably my third time coming here and it's always really delicious. I can tell how fresh the sushi is because it doesn't taste nor smell fishy and everything is very hot and takes time to make after ordering. The owner was super nice! We walked and walked out instantly. The place smelled like rot and waste. We went in on a Saturday evening and the place was empty and the menu didn't catch our eye in the first place but we wanted to try something new and after discovering it was just the usual takeout style place that also happens to serve bento boxes inside we were not impressed but the smell drove us away. This place is absolutely up and running! So I'm not sure why yelpers have marked it closed. Bento House is always delicious. The best part is that the food (especially the veggies), always taste fresh! I love their veggie lo mein, and their bento boxes are beautiful.
