You know they are a good breakfast spot when people are waiting at 6:15 for doors to open. We had breakfast here a few years ago and enjoyed it; wanted to go back but we don't eat breakfast often. Prices were higher this time, understandably. They are still better priced on a basic breakfast than other places nearby. I wanted to try their eggs Benedict even though I've only ever had it maybe 2-3 times in my life! I'm not a good person to judge since I'm not really sure what hollandaise should taste like! It was more tangy tart than I expected. The eggs were cooked the way they should be and the ham was thick. In my memory, it should've had a stronger ham flavor, as I think Canadian bacon is the traditional meat and I was hoping for that. But even eating a piece of the thick ham by itself, I couldn't taste a salty smoked ham flavor. While I found that disappointing, I couldn't take a star away because visually it looked great, and I imagine a lot of people would love to see that thick slice of ham even if it is too mild! Don't judge it by my photo because I broke my yolks and stirred them up before I remembered to take a photo. The grits (my choice of side) were just like I like them. My husband got a 2 eggs breakfast with home fries (?) sausage and toast. It was a full plate of food and he enjoyed it. They have home made strawberry jam (yum!) and I will for sure get breakfast with toast or biscuits next time just so I can have some of that jam. I did put a little bit of jam on a couple bites of my English muffin from under my Benedict. The coffee mug was tall so my husband appreciated that; and the friendly & attentive server, Melissa, filled it before empty, as needed. We will be back "sooner than later" hopefully, because there's more I want to try on their menu. I do recommend going here for breakfast especially if you are an early bird or find yourself out and about very early for some reason like we were, and need a breakfast. I think they might get crowded quickly, so early is better. Note that their hours were not accurate on the iPhone maps app - I submitted correct hours and it's pending approval. However I used the website hours and one of their days I think it was Sunday - was showing closed at 1 but it's actually 1:30. read more

This has become one of our favorite restaurants in the area. Today we had a lunch special and a breakfast. Both were delicious. The meatloaf was very good and came with a bbq glaze and some bbq sauce on the two slices. The mashed potatoes are real, you can tell because they leave the skins on! My wife also had an order of the potato pancakes with applesauce. Those were fabulous! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, done beautifully. They also provide a small bowl of applesauce which was very good and we appreciated the amount. I had tow biscuits with gravy, two scrambled eggs, and hash browns. In my opinion, they have the best biscuits and gravy in the area. Gravy has plenty of flavor and the biscuits are soft and flaky on the inside, yum. Chasity was our server and she was fantastic! I am truly perplexed that the reviews are any good here. Omelette was flavorless, hashbrowns barely touched the grill even though extra crispy was requested. Toast wasn't even toasted it was like soggy bread. Even the coffee was awful. Ambience sucked. I wouldn't go here if it was the only thing open on Tamiami Trail. Worse than prison food. read more

This place felt like home. The second that you walked in, you can see all the locals support this great. Food establishment, it is always great when we can support local businesses. we were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. No less than 1 minute later, we had this massive large cup of coffee at our table. What an incredible find!! I can't believe we just found this gem. From the moment we walked in we were greeted warmly. There were many regulars which is always a great sign. The food is fresh made, such as meatloaf. And the specials are actually special! They are also very accommodating when it comes to requests. Worth checking out and supporting this locally owned business I always like walking into a new place and receiving a friendly greeting. I guess I arrived late enough where they were asking whether I wanted breakfast or lunch. Definitely breakfast. Coffee soon followed as I looked over the menu. They offer a Benedict that is made with corned beef hash and a creamy hollandaise sauce. That made it an easy choice. In just under 10 minutes the food arrived. I sampled the sauce, and it was excellent. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I took my time and enjoyed my Irish Benedict with a side of Hash Browns. My server checked on me and topped off my coffee a couple of times. Located in a strip mall, Hometown Grill has a dining area with several tables in the front and a hallway lined with more tables heading to the back. Parking is close and prices inexpensive. This is definitely a local diner with spot on service. The server was friendly and funny. She was buzzing around her station the whole time making sure each of her tables had plenty of coffee, napkins, and water. The breakfast is the usual diner options, nothing fancy, just a simple breakfast at a great price. We spotted in on our Sunday drive, and were able to get seated immediately. The diner is located inside a strip mall and nothing fancy, but the place is bigger than it appears and has a front and back entrance. As we waited for our food to arrive, we noted several mature couples arriving, all seem to know the staff. Tables got buzzing quickly, and the food kept coming out from the back. We had a western omelette that was good with the home fries and toast. The coffee was hot and remained full. Again the service was on point. My husband had a pancake special that he enjoyed with some sausage links. Don't expect fancy creations, just a real home cooked breakfast and you will not be disappointed. Eh, it's a 2 1/2, could be worse. Went because I saw on Facebook they had a brownie waffle and it looked amazing. For the waffle alone it cost $9.50. Upon first look it was beautiful. However, looking closer and eating it, it needed to be more done. Furthermore, we're not talking about a thick Belgium waffle. It was thin and skinny (think Waffle House size but slightly smaller). There was a generous amount of brownie crumble and whipped topping. The brownies were just on top though, not in the waffle itself. The taste of the waffle over all was 7/10. I also ordered a side of bacon. The bacon was 3 small and thin pieces for $4. I understand inflation, but that's crazy. The bacon was good, but nothing special. I also ordered a fountain drink. The cost with their 3.2% card fee came to $18 before tip for one person! All I had was a waffle, bacon, and a drink. The owner greeted me, noticed my NY accent, told me she was from NY and welcomed me with open arms and said now your name is New York. Gilding the Lilly generally means going to excess on something that is already exceptional. This place's rating is almost a 5 so I'm not sure what I can add other than high compliments for the people wo work there. They are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. We usually visit P.C. about once a year and always make it a point to have breakfast here at least one morning. All small business owners who have employees who interact with the public should visit this place to see just how important pleasant employees are to building a business. From start to finish this was a great experience. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food (and her recommendations) were fantastic. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and loved it. It had the right amount of pepper, chock full of sausage, and just tasted fantastic. I was torn between the hash browns and the grits...which I love, but hate being disappointed. Our server was from Georgia and told me both were good, but if I liked grits, I'd love these. And then told me to get them with cheese. Unlike some places that sprinkle shredded cheese on top and try to pass them off as cheese grits, these folks blended the cheese in so seamlessly it was part of the grits and it made my mouth so happy.
