I was in a party of six so we all ordered different cuts. Trust me there was more than enough to go around. Did I mention the wine, I forgot what I had, but the server said it paired excellently with my cut of steak and he provided different advice for all of us depending on our steak. SN: The wifi in here is ridiculously fast. It's Spain so expect to eat pretty late (930pm) for our meal the courses were timed perfectly. Instead they never checked on us and we had to flag down a staff to tell them about it and it took then 20 minutes to deliberate and finally the cook came over with an attitude stating we have to pay for it because we took "20 minutes to say something." They kept insisting that they cook the same burger more that was bitten and had been sitting and that they had back for over 20 minutes and that they would give a new bun and toppings. This is utterly ridiculous. Who would want that back especially after repeatedly insisting we no longer wanted it and that we can just pay for everything else. I would never recommend this place to anyone ever. And we are not the only customers there at the time who had a problem with raw food.

I grew up eating my aunt's empanadas, and I thought I knew how empanadas should taste. As soon as La Tranquera's empanadas arrived at our table, I forgot every other empanada I have ever eaten. These delicious, light and airy pockets of perfection are the new standard for me. We had one of each flavor, and while they were all incredible, the carne criolla one was my favorite. We also had a delicious bowl of samorejo, a creamy, cold tomato soup with tiny pieces of jamon and delicate slices of hard boiled egg. First time for me, but I am a convert. Great food, friendly service, welcoming atmosphere. All in all, a wonderful experience.

The crust was perfect, flaky, but not too heavy or oily. The fillings were even better, so many different interesting flavors to try and seasoned just right. Whimsical was a favorite among us, savory with a hint of sweet and sour from the tomato. Oxtail was rich and tender. Good old ham and cheese was also a favorite for the kids. Moroccan chicken had a such unique blend of spices and a hint of sweet. Yes, I am still thinking about these empanadas.
