El Camino has always been a favorite of mine for authentic mexican food. I moved from the area a few years ago, but always try to visit when I'm in town. Stopped in for a late lunch, they have a lunch menu available 7 days a week until 2:30pm. The chimichanga is a favorite because it's covered in queso! Portion sizes are very generous. Chips and homemade salsa is served to every table, the first round is complimentary. Coke products available, including fountain Mello Yellow. My son just tried to call 2 different times to place an order. Twice he said his name and they said Riley? No not even close. Tell me how 2 sides of rice and beans, a burrito and an order of guacamole comes to 66.00????!!!!! I called to figure this out and was not given good customer service so I said cancel it forget it. Atmosphere is average to below average for a hole in the wall restaurant. I've eaten more Mexican cuisine than most that I know so I feel I'm someone of a decent judge of Mexican cuisine. Where do I start.... Let's start with I can't believe this place still exists! The food is absolutely atrocious. The meat and red sauce, just gross. The chips are terrible. Tastes like dog food in a chip form. Salsa was edible but well below average. Tried several different dishes with our group and not a single plate was close to good. Hacienda even has way better food. Won't be back and if you are wanting anything even remotely decent I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Taco Bell blows this place away. read more

We've been to El Camino Real several times before, and this was the first time we were greeted so politely. Christian didn't rush us regarding our order and answered all our questions we had about the food. He was very attentive to all tables. Used to be a regular here, but seems to have gone downhill since new owners. Tonight was kind of the topping on the cake though, the waitress sat my husbands, cheese sauce down and stuck her ungodly long fingernails right into it. I'm surprised he even ate it. read more

Solid. I think this place would serve you something more authentic if you went in and asked--in spanish--for 'comida verdaderamente mexicana'. I was with a big group and it definitely tasted like the American version of Mexican (which can still be tasty). Nonetheless, the servers are a ton of fun if you are in the mood to joke around. I generally get one of their combination dinners because it's easy to order and I like variety, but occasionally I'll mix it up and order tacos a la carte. They can accommodate large groups (give them advance notice) and make birthday celebrations memorable. Prices are very reasonable. Great Mexican food, nice big space and very clean. We really had to look at Yelp to find a place open on Sunday night but when we did, it was a winner. Plus, our server was such a great guy. I had Shrimp al Mojo like I do at nearly every Mexican restaurant I go to. It was just great plus the salsa was outstanding. If you're in Goshen, make sure you visit it. While San Marcos is probably the more authentic choice, El Camino is the popular place for mexican food in Goshen. College students flock here...and at times, so do the Conservative Mennonites. I think this may be one of the best restaurants in Goshen; nestled in a little strip ball behind Bob Evans. The food cannot be beat. The prices are super reasonable, the portions plentiful and the margaritas are cheap (by Chicago standards). The service is always attentive and always consistent. Many people would prefer Hacienda's taco bell style food and there full of sugar frozen flavored margaritas, but really this place is where you should go! I always go for the Fajitas and the Margaritas and their chips and salsa cannot be beat! It's the first place I want to go whenever I visit the big city of Goshen! read more

El Camino is great if you value good food and value over atmosphere. Their grasp of the English language is not the greatest, but that is not unusual in Goshen or Elkhart. Let me start by saying I love Mexican food so it hurts to say that I give it no stars the food was terrible my fajitas weren't even sizzling when brought out which most definitely should have been The taco salid was also terrible the meat was bland an tasted like just sour cream and lettuce only the chicken was burnt on one side and the steak was a bad cut which had a lot of fat on it I use to eat at the one in Plymouth an it was actually my favorite restaurant but as for this one in Goshen it is a disgrace to the people of Mexico nobody out of four of us liked wut they had it was over priced at 81 dallors and tasted extreamly terrible the service was bad the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth literally. The waitress clearly didn't understand what we wanted, had to take the menu and look at what my husband ordered and 10 minutes later came back to ask again what her wanted. Authentic. Definitely. Ambiance nice and quiet. Love the décor. Zapata Poppy. Just like home. Favorite dish is Angel. Food is always hot and fresh like it should be. Service is always on point. The menu's your typical fare you see at Mexican restaurants in the midwest with lots of good stuff: flautas, burritos, enchiladas, tacos, tostadas, etc. I had the garlic shrimp dinner and found it very tasty. This is a personal call - do you want 'Americanized' Mexican? A lot of the choices seem to fit this category. I did really enjoy the tostada de camaron, which was fresh and tasted much more authentic. I enjoyed the meal and the service was excellent. This is much better than Hacienda and I'm shocked that so many actually would pick Hacienda over authentic Mexican. Go to El Camino if you are in the mood for a burrito, fajitas, or tacos. This place is one of my family's top haunts in Goshen for dinner when we are craving Mexican. Great selection of Mexican favorites. Although not authentic, my personal favorite is the taco salad. The flavors of the tortilla shell, cheese, sour cream, and seasoned ground beef blend well together. This is your typical Mexican restaurant that are popping up all over the Midwest. The one thing that sets this one apart from the others is the salsa. It's a little but spicier than your typical, which is a plus in my book. The menu does say 1.65 for an extra bag of chips, which is a bummer....they lost a star for that crafty maneuver. read more
