The Castillo de Tequila is not a well-known brand or destination in Tequila, Jalisco, but it should be. Tequila Centro is not what it used to be. Sure, you can visit Sauza and/or Herradura and have a great time, but we have always enjoyed visiting the castle showcasing their brands. The Castillo has the following brands: Adictivo, Lote Maestro, Tierra Sagrada, and Bandido. Each is distinctive, sophisticated, and seductive. We've visited the Castillo at least 10 times over the years and have purchased many bottles to bring back with us. Today was going to be different as we wanted to take a tour of their business. We did not book ahead, which is what I would have preferred, but the team was more than willing to book us on site for a group of 4 for a 2:00 pm tour in Spanish. It is about $30 per person, and our guide, Fatima, did an amazing job patiently explaining the business, their growth, and their future. While we did not see the ovens, the agave plants, or the distillation, we were offered a tour of where the barrels are being stored as well as a tasting of three of their tequilas. We were also offered cantaritos and some lunch at their new restaurant. While we passed on the food, the cantaritos were delicious. We did purchase two bottles to take home to the US, and the team bubble-wrapped them expertly and securely. We truly enjoy the tequila from Castillo, and while some may not know about them or prefer known brands, we loved our tour and our experience at the Castillo. El Castillo de Tequila no es una marca ni un destino muy conocido en Tequila, Jalisco, pero debería serlo. El Centro de Tequila ya no es lo que era. Claro, puedes visitar Sauza o Herradura y pasarla genial, pero siempre hemos disfrutado visitando el castillo y mostrando sus marcas. El Castillo tiene las siguientes marcas: Adictivo, Lote Maestro, Tierra Sagrada y Bandido. Cada una es distintiva, sofisticada y seductora. Hemos visitado el Castillo al menos diez veces a lo largo de los años y hemos comprado muchas botellas para llevarnos. Hoy iba a ser diferente, ya que queríamos hacer un recorrido por su negocio. No reservamos con antelación, que es lo que hubiera preferido, pero el equipo estuvo más que dispuesto a reservarnos en el lugar para un grupo de 4 personas para un recorrido a las 14:00 h en español. Cuesta unos 30 $ por persona, y nuestra guía, Fátima, hizo un trabajo increíble al explicarnos con paciencia el negocio, su crecimiento y su futuro. Aunque no vimos los hornos, las plantas de agave ni la destilación, nos ofrecieron un recorrido por el lugar donde se almacenan las barricas, así como una degustación de tres de sus tequilas. También nos ofrecieron cantaritos y un almuerzo en su nuevo restaurante. Si bien pasamos por alto la comida, los cantaritos estaban deliciosos. Compramos dos botellas para llevar a casa a Estados Unidos, y el equipo las envolvió en plástico de burbujas de forma experta y segura. Realmente disfrutamos del tequila de Castillo, y aunque algunos quizás no lo conozcan o prefieran marcas conocidas, nos encantó el recorrido y nuestra experiencia en Castillo. read more
