This is a different tour - not a commercial, generic, school visit type of tour. We welcome tequila aficionados and the simply curious alike. The tour is made to be unique, educational and fun; like Mexico itself, a tour of the senses.
Our commitment is to take you behind the scenes and give you a firsthand look at how tequila is made, and demonstrate how to love it more. Learn its ancestral history and traditions, discover its land and birthtown and of course, taste this fine spirit - all in a relaxed, laid-back and unrushed atmosphere.
We select lesser-known places that are 100% Mexican and that cultivate a love for the land and a pride for their craft. We make it our mission to bring acknowledgment and recognition to their hard work and the excellence of their product.
We privilege smaller groups for greater attention (tour size normally varies between 4-12 persons). Photos can be taken in any area of the distilleries.
Join us and share our knowledge and passion for Mexico's iconic drink!
The Tour lasts a full day and includes the following:
Hotel / Hostel pickup and drop-off within the Metropolitan Guadalajara Area (included);
Roundtrip transportation between Guadalajara and Tequila;
Throughout the day we will visit two family-run distilleries for a step by step explanation of tequila's making process - from cooking to fermentation to distillation to bottling;
History
Established in 2010.
It was in 2008-2009 that the Tequila Tour by Mickey Marentes started taking form, attending seminars and classes, and in 2010 that I started test-driving the tour with friends and relatives. June 2010 marks the official beginning of operations. Since then, the tour has been gaining impulse through the years.
My philosophy is simple and has always been the same:
I love Mexico, its history and traditions and its rich culture and I wish to share that with you. I have gone to Tequila a thousand times, but for you it's a first - therefore my goal is for you to experience it in the best way possible and make it a memorable journey.
I am thankful for the help provisioned by those in the industry, many of whom became close friends with the passage of time and for their openness to teach and share and their craftsmanship, allowing me to pass it on to you!

Meet the Business Owner: Mickey M.
Born to a mother from Jalostotitlán, Jalisco and a father from Yurécuaro, Michoacán, two municipalities listed on the classified denomination territory, it was only natural that love and passion for tequila would flow through my veins.
Working as a chief of operations for an international marketing research firm allowed me to travel the country extensively before settling in Guadalajara.
It was there, in the pearl of the Occident, that I could finally engage full time in my passion, which prompts me to say that since then, I have never "worked" another day in my life.
I noticed a need for a tour that felt more personal and authentic (and less touristic!); a tour that I would like to go on myself if I were a visitor in this land.
