El Charro Mexican Grill gets 5 stars for Me. I walked into El Charro and was greated kindly and was seated. I asked for a Mexican Coke and ate my chips and salsa while looking over the menu. Let me add that the chips were warm and fresh. Salsa was really good. Plus I ordered a small queso. I feel so bad I don't remember the guy's name there. Seems he was the boss. We had several great conversations in between servicing tables. I ordered a chicken rellena with pulled chicken. Comes with beans and the lettuce, Guac. So delicious!! I was extremely happy with my lunch, here. (At 1130am) Thanks alot for the kind heart and conversation. They even put me in a booth that had an outlet as my phone was beyond dead. I visited El Charro on Dec 13. I had a great strawberry margarita. I then visited the salsa bar and loved the mango salsa. When the food came out I was very surprised how good the food was. When I walked out of the restaurant I realized that I just had the best Mexican meal ever. I'll visit El Charro again, when in Radford. read more

The food is delicious and the service is amazing. I have been eating at this place for 18 years and have never ordered anything i didn't like there! I love the queso fundito with chips or tortillas and the fajitas. Taco Tuesday's are always wonderful as well. I haven't made it during a weekday morning for breakfast burritos but I haven't made hard they are amazing! I will endeavor to try to make it there on a weekday morning. I highly recommend this restaurant. It's one of my regular local favorites! read more

Worst place I have EVER been to. They are rude,rude,rude to their customers. They sent out ice cold food to me all because they didn't know how to properly make the dish without dairy to accommodate to any food allergy. They probably don't even know what a food allergy is. I would watch yourself if you go into to eat. When a complaint was brought to their face they asked me and my husband to leave. The tasteless food that they did bring out had no taste;and was all at room temperature. Suggestion go across the river they are very clean inside the restaurant,and they have much better customer service skills. Heck make the trip out to the one in Blacksburg. read more

Pretty much your average Mexican place. I ordered the enchiladas poblanos, but they were disappointing. The Mole sauce was too sweet, though it had a nice spice level. the beans were unremarkable, as was the taco salad. The service was quick and good and the place was clean. This is one of like three Mexican restaurants in the Radford city limits, but I like this one the best. They consistently have $5 jumbo frozen margaritas that for a college town is a really good deal. They have a salsa bar that you can try all different types of salsa at along with their house salsa which they bring to the table with always hot chips. I'm not sure if they make them in house or not but they're so crispy and warm that I don't really mind regardless. Their food is GOOD, not anything to write home to but the good thing is that it's fairly inexpensive. It's a nice atmosphere and I like going with friends if I'm feeling in the mood. I have never paid over $20 for food and drinks before which is great if you're trying to save money. I'll definitely go back again. read more

What can I say - other than This place is DELICIOUS! We've never had a bad experience here and we've been here too many times to count. The food here is tasty & flavorful. The salsa and queso is fantastic...highly recommend the "CHICKEN SANTA FE". Chips and salsa are served at the beginning and they keep refilling! Service is always friendly and fast - can't get enough of this place - would eat here daily, if I could! Great for families and kids too - clean and delicious - what more can you ask for? Worst food I have ever had that called itself Mexican food. Didn't have common Mexican food. What we did order was so nasty we couldn't eat it. The taco salad was runny. The enchilada sauce was so full of cinnamon that you could eat it. If this is what Virginia calls Mexican, send be back to Oklahoma. read more

I made a pick up order and when i went to get it they gave me the wrong one so I had to go back to get the correct one and on the "correct" order there was beef on one of the vegetarian entrees and then a whole other entree was missing. Stopped off here as a "halfway" between Knoxville to meet our daughter. Hubby had chorizo chicken, daughter had chicken chimichanga and I had the carnitas. All were very good. We ordered steak Fajitas for two, the steak was flavorless, seemed like it had been previously frozen. The small plate we were given had beans and rice and lettuce and barely a teaspoon of guacamole to go with it. The Margaritas were nothing special, tastes like they were made from a cheap mix. I guess if you don't have much experience eating Mexican food it would seem ok, but personally I have had much better and will not be back. I have always loved El Charro until the other night when I went there for my friends birthday dinner. There were only four of us in a table(so no reason to get rude service) and we still got treated like we were not as important as other tables(college kids get treated like this more than you think). I ordered a margarita on the rocks and the waitress came back with a frozen, so I politely told her that I ordered on the rocks and she rolled her eyes and walked away. She came back with an on the rocks margarita and I took a sip of it and realized right away that there was no tequila in it (it tasted like strawberry syrup) so I asked for another shot to put in it and the waitress knew that she had been caught because I didn't get charged for the shot. This makes me wonder how many of their drinks actually have alcohol in them. I will never go there to drink ever again and I will be telling my friends to go to one of the other two Mexican restaurants in Radford. Very disappointed in El Charro after this read more
