We are visiting from the south and I am very surprised to find a great Mexican restaurant way up North. I was raised on real Mexican food in the Southwest, and loved in Texas for many years so I know Tex-mex as well, which I don't care for. We shared the shrimp chorizo nachos which were delicious. There shrimp was cooked perfectly- tasty and supple, not rubbery. We then shared the shrimp enchiladas, and this is where four instead of five stars plays out. Everything was tasty but there was no enchiladas sauce to speak of, just a lot of the cheese sauce. We were looking forward to having real enchilada sauce on the enchiladas. So if you come here to eat, and I recommend you do, ask that the cook add extra enchilada sauce. read more

Being from Texas and the Southwest where Mexican restaurants are a dime-a-dozen, I knew not to expect the same quality we were used to. That said, it wasn't terrible (fortunately). I ordered the beef enchilada and chili Relleno, and hubbie ordered the fish tacos. We didn't have to wait long to get our food, and everything was hot when it was delivered to our table. My enchilada had a very different taste than what I'm used to; it was strongly flavored with cinnamon. The chili in my Relleno was very over cooked and almost mushy, but the flavor was okay. Hubby said his taco was a bit "fishy," which generally means it's not as fresh as it should be. The rice and beans were pretty standard. While the food was average to sub-standard, the staff was extremely friendly and kept our drinks refilled before the glass was even empty! Nappanee is a very small town, so there are very few restaurants in the area to choose from. I'd recommend sticking with the standard Mexican fare: Tacos, Burritos, Fajitas, and Enchiladas (if you don't mind cinnamon). read more

Great portion size but general lack of flavor. Salsa was basically tomato juice, queso was extremely bland. The fajitas were not sizzling upon arrival and got cold quickly. Chicken from Pollo Verde was tough and flavorless, but the verde sauce did have flavor. read more

Thank goodness - a closer, local answers to the the Linway Plaza Hacienda! I have absolutely nothing against Hacienda - it's a super great place but it's so awesome to see Lindo pop up in downtown Nappanee! Good prices and menu. LOTS of seating... like for days. This is one of those little gems you stumble across in unexpected places. I had the Chicken Fajitas and my husband had the Burrito Grande. They gave me a huge pile of chicken, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, and mushrooms on a sizzling iron skillet along with a big plate of refried beans, rice, pico, sour cream, and guacamole. It was fabulous! My husband's burrito covered the entire plate and was stuffed full of huge chunks of chicken. He loved it! We could only eat half of our dinners but we managed to split an order of fried ice cream. He wasn't sure he'd like it but one bite had him tearing into the rest. This is where I usually eat when I am in Nappanee. Servers are friendly. Drinks are served promptly. The wait for food is average. My friend always orders steak fajitas. They are exactly what I would expect to see in a good Mexican restaurant, large portions served hot and sizzling. They smell wonderful. Last visit, I ordered a taco salad with ground beef. The beef was strange, a pale finely ground meat with little flavor. I won't be ordering anything else with ground beef. The meat was watery and the bottom and lower sides of the taco shell was really soggy. The veges were fresh and there was a generous serving of sour cream. I'm a small business owner in nappanee wanted to support them by going to dine in and was very disappointed. Our waitress had changed half way thruour meal and dinner was completely wrong and then charged for meals we did not order. When I asked for the check I asked for a discount and was told we will try better next time. Also prices have increased because meat venders have Increased there prices? I love the tacos. They over stuff them. I like ordering the toppings on the side so I can put how ever much I want. But the only issue here is that no matter how many times I tell them what toppings I want and how I want it they make me repeat myself a few times and In the end they add the cilantro and onions anway. Mind you, I speak Spanish. I just end up picking them off. read more

I was quite pleased that this place was in the middle of Nappanee, an unexpected twist of culture. The food is unfortunately gross. I ordered a burrito with ground beef. I got a very strange texture of white-ish mystery meat drowning in a white cheese sauce wrapped in a very stale, very unpleasant tortilla. My girlfriend ordered veggie fajitas on corn tortillas. Her tortillas were apparently wet before they went into a microwave or something- they had joined forces and became a single mega-mush-corn tortilla. Just laziness and no attention to ingredients. This is the level of mexican food I describe as "dog food". read more

I've been to quite a few Mexican restaurants but this one that came to my town a few years ago is awesome. You will find the portions are very generous and the food taste very good. It's ran by Mexicans and sometimes they are a bit hard to understand but very hospitable. If your in town and Mexican sounds good, I recommend the Cielito Lindo fajitas, good for a hungry guy like myself but could feed two honestly. Oh, and the salsa isn't bad at all either :) read more

we've been there twice, with mixed results. the service and the staff were great. service was generally fast and they are very sweet. however, the second time we were there, our dishes came out one at a time, the last arriving about 7 minutes after the first. i had the chile verdes enchiladas. i am spoiled. i live in chicago, so i have too many great and reasonable dining experiences to compare when i travel. this was not great. bland, just really rolled tortillas with chicken inside, which was tasty, but as an enchilada i could do better at my local grocery. chile verde bland. beans bland and nearly flavorless. the rice was good. the guacamole that came on the plate was also very bland and flavorless. all the dishes were very bland. the salsa that came with the chips was almost like ketchup with chunks of tomato, no pepper, no flavor. the other dishes were suprisingly sparse. fish tacos, with broiled or flatgrilled chopped up fish tasted okay, but had nothing at all else on them....no lettuce or tomato or anything. same with the chicken tacos, bare. i am willing to concede that maybe they are from a region where things are bare and sparse, but i doubt it. i had a couple negro modelos, which were cold and served in a frosted glass and hit the spot. the meat tasted good, but no frills. the staff is great and i hope they pull up and improve, because it's a great addition to the small town that has not many choices. one of the interesting things about the whole experience is dining with the amish and the mennonites and the locals. it's comfy and warm dining room and the ambiance (!) is nice. read more

Nice atmosphere, lots of seating and free on street parking. We were there for lunch about 1pm on a Friday and there was a large crowd. Separate lunch menu with prices in 6.95 range. Chips and salsa brought immediately after being seated within 30 seconds. Excellent service. read more

My wife and I really love this hidden gem in the heart of Amish country. We have never had a bad meal here....NEVER! The food is always the perfect temperature when brought to the table, the flavor is fantastic, and the service is quick and very efficient. The prices are really great too, which is a big plus. Awful. The margarita was a shot of tequila and your standard bottle mix hastily poured into a glass. The chips and salsa were maybe 2 stars, eatable but not enjoyable. My husband had the chicken enchiladas and beans and both were tasteless. I had the fajita quesadilla and the chicken and vegetables were swimming in oil and some kind of liquid cheese. I hated every bite and therefore, had very few. The waitress was kind enough to ask if there was something wrong with the margarita and when I told her she kindly took it off our bill. She was very nice and smiled to all of the guests. We really wanted to like this place. We are here for several days and would have returned several times. read more
