We were driving from IL to IN to see family and decided to stop for lunch. We sat in the bar area at a high top. Our waitress took our drink order and checked on us a few times before we decided to order. Two of us wanted the breaded tenderloin sandwich. Which the waitress informed us the didn't have any. Why couldn't she mention that 1/2 hour ago. I ended up ordering the grilled chicken breast sandwich. I was disappointed with the chicken breast, it was very thin. Best burger I've had since moving to the Midwest. The burger was cooked medium well with the tiniest hint of pink. They let me customize my Jalapeño Popper burger, substituting pepper jack cheese, and their habanero aioli. The whipped cream cheese, and spicy heat were a perfect match. Had our first visit at Hunters Hideaway today for lunch and will definitely go again! We were greeted when we entered and told we could sit anywhere. We chose a high table by the bar and were only there a couple of minutes before our server Pam showed up to take our drink order. I had a Lemon Hibiscus Twist and my husband had a beer. We ordered breaded pickle chips for an appetizer which came quickly and chose the Black Jack breaded tenderloin with a side of cottage cheese and a Frisco burger with bacon and grilled onions added and fries. First of all I have heard that the hamburgers tasted like freezer burn and not fresh beef. So, I ordered the pork tenderloin sandwich. This is our second time at Hunters Hideaway. This time I had the special which was a sweet chili Chicken sandwich, it comes with two sides. I chose the tomato basil soup and fries covered in beef gravy. My husband had the steak sandwich, tots and chili soup. The tomato soup was very good but it had a good amount of fresh ground pepper in it. The chicken was tender and very tasty. My husband liked the chili but was not impressed with the steak sandwich, he said it was dry and tough. The first time we stopped in I had the steak sandwich and thought it was tender and not at all dry. He loved the burger he had the first time. We have been following Hunter's Hideaway on Facebook on recommendation from a friend. We stopped in, for the first time, a week ago. Located in beautiful Nappanee, Indiana. We arrived on a Friday, late afternoon. There were already several people enjoying drinks and food. Very clean and great atmosphere. The waitress was very friendly and very attentive. They have a good size food and drink menu. My husband had beer and I had a drink called a Gummy Bear. So delicious! We both had burgers that were absolutely delicious. Prices are very reasonable. They play upbeat country music, which is expected in a country establishment. They have a family room for guests with children as well as a bar area and patio seating. There are many items on the menu, including options for kids. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with mixed vegetables. My dining companion had the steak sandwich with garlic fries. The atmosphere here was great. People were happy and having a great time. There is plenty of outside seating. I didn't venture inside but imagine there's plenty of room in there too. I was surprised to see chicken gizzards on the menu. I was assured that they weren't going to be like battered bouncy balls. They were absolutely delicious. Visited Hunters for the first time over a weekday lunch hour - we were in an out within an hour with no problem! They seemed ready and able to serve the lunch crowds. No lunch specials but they do have a pretty large menu with lots of options. The burgers, pulled pork nachos, and pizza were all recommended. I have heard that they recently took over ownership of a local bbq place and I was eager to try the pulled pork. Unfortunately, the pulled pork nachos were the only item on the menu I could find bbq related. These come in a pretty hefty portion and are delicious! My only request would have been more bbq sauce. My friend had a burger and fries - this would have been my 2nd option, which also looked pretty good! The atmosphere is pretty nice for Nappanee, we sat in the enclosed patio room.
