Though it was only 4 PM, there were already several parties seated. The store was very clean and orderly and looks much more up to date than the exterior of the strip mall. The waitress took my drink order immediately (freshly brewed iced tea and Pepsi products). The restaurant is still new enough that they do not yet have their liquor license, but a note on the door advises they have applied for it. My iced tea was brought quickly to my table along with a basket of warm chips and salsa. The chips were standard fair. The salsa had good flavor, was smooth and tasted fresh with just a very, very slight back heat (enough to notice it was there, nothing more for those who are not too adventurous). My dinner was delivered to my table about 5 minutes after I ordered. The burritos were very tender and covered with a homemade sauce that was different than I had tasted before--very good. The ground beef was generous and the burritos were warm and soft. The rice was tender and had a mild flavor. The beans were very smooth. The sour cream salad was brightly-colored and the fresh taste matched the color (I did not ask, but the lettuce and tomatoes tasted like they were local--not the typical produce with ZERO flavor offered in most grocery stores). The waitress checked on me a couple a times to make sure I had everything I needed. I really enjoyed my dinner and will definitely stop again to support this locally-owned Mexican restaurant that has its own unique flavor profiles and a generous amount of fresh food! When I asked about it, the server walked away, then turned around and basically shouted, "DO YOU WANT RICE?" At that point I just said forget it. The person with me never received her guacamole appetizer. The server never returned, no refill, no check, so we went to the counter to pay. Since we had no tickets, the cashier had to get the same server to ring us up. I mentioned the missing guacamole, and he was clearly irritated. I told him she wasn't paying for something she never received. Then he rang up my meal and STILL charged me for the full platter. I paid it just to avoid him causing a scene, but the attitude was unbelievable. I understand being busy and overheated, but taking it out on customers, refusing to acknowledge mistakes, and trying to charge for items never served (and did charge for items never served} is exactly why this place keeps dropping in ratings. Food was mediocre. Service was rude. Prices keep going up while the customer experience keeps going down. They've never corrected a single issue I've had here.
