When we arrived we had the place to ourselves and sat at the deuce in the window. We sampled quite a few items. The roasted peppers, fabulous mushrooms with ham, and green salad. The entrees were spareribs and lamb chops. The spare ribs were wonderful. Both came with French fries. A local red wine completed the meal. And for dessert, we had a cheese torte. The service was friendly even though he couldn't speak English and we cheated using the Google Translate app to "read" the menu. The total tab was just over 50 euros. At first I thought a restaurant at such prime location must be touristy, but it's in fact a local favorite that has been around since 1950. We were the only tourists in the dining room! And the locals, from the waitstaff to fellow diners, are all more than happy to share their culture and help explain the menu. Their menu is really extensive, and there is even a vegetarian section too, a rarity in Portugal. We enjoyed a very delicious melon w prosciutto: the sweet fruit is a perfect complement to the savory ham, followed by carré de borrego, rack of lamb, that was perfectly done, tender inside and crispy outside, alone with some delightful sides.
