My only complaint is the chicken was like the frozen chicken that is rib meat and pressed. Recommended by the lady working out at Wegner, we stopped in for dinner on taco tuesday, 1$ hard shell tacos!! My husband orders that as well as the chicken chimi meal, I had the bacon cheeseburger, which was also recommended. The service was good, and the place was pretty much full. The burger was obviously made fresh there, they are char-grilled which I dislike, however for anyone who does like that then it was an amazing burger!! My husband loved his, but the tacos could've used some flavor. Who would've thought that this small town would be serving some of the best Mexican food I've ever had! We stopped in Mount Ida for a day on our way to Kansas City from Houston and this restaurant was one of the few options we had in the area. We really did not have any expectations from this place but walking into the restaurant, we were quite pleasantly surprised! The ambiance and decor of this restaurant was just so friendly and pleasing to the eye! And our server was very friendly and accommodating. I got the carne asada and was overwhelmed by the portion of the food for the price that I paid for it. The food lasted me for three meals! We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was here. I usually get tacos de carne asada, as they did not have any specifically I got the Mariachi Plate, which was beef fajita tacos, they were excellent! Dude!! This place is da' bomb! I came in from Fort Worth for a lake vacation and we were too tired to cook tonight. Being from Mexican Food heaven, I didn't expect much. I WAS WRONG!!! Their salsa could make it in Texas! They were busy and the food took a little while but our glasses and salsa were never empty. The food came out correct and hot. The portions were HUGE. El Diamanté is the place to eat in Mount Ida. Who would think a small Mexican joint in little Mount Ida would be so good. We live in Houston and have our share of Mexican food to choose from daily, but we really enjoy El D when we are in Mount Ida during the summer time. My favorite dish is Burrito Uno with beef. What can I say? Few choices in a small town. Mediocre Mexican food. Very bland. However, HUGE plates of food. Very popular.

I was genuine impressed by this Mexican restaurant in the small town of Mt. Ida. It's clean, the staff is friendly and the beef fajitas were some of the best I've had...marinated steak was tender and favorable while the veggies were grilled perfectly. just now First time to this restaurant, we are from out of state (from Houston, TX) and extremely disappointed!!! I am a server and have been a server for years, and if we as servers or our host ever greeted guests/customers they we were greeted today.... we would have been terminated immediately. Your restaurant CLOSES at 2 pm, NOT 1:50 pm. We walked in after being on the road since 8 am and wanted to grab a bite to eat!! We are greeted as we walk in with the host saying "I'm sorry we close in ten minutes, if you know what you want, you can give me order now and we can get it started for you!! Ya don't EVER turn customers away, just because you close in 10 minutes. As I mentioned I have been a server for several years and we've had people walk in 2 minutes before we close; we're they turned away.... NO THEY WERE SERVED as normal! They werent rush in anyway!! As the owner, this is not good business and you need to serve the public up to the second you close!! Poor judgment on your host!! When waitress asked if ok and I told her no response. I would think with only two tables to wait on and only five people in the restaurant service would of been better.
