We always eat in Mena after a day on the Cossatot River... this time we gave La Villa a try and I'm SO glad we did! We were greeted and seated immediately the place is bigger than I thought...they were busy given it was Father's Day. The menu is large but we ordered and literally everything we got from the salsa to our entrees were ON POINT! Everything was so flavorful and cooked to perfection! If you haven't tried their Rancho meals, you're missing out! The Rancho Chihuahua contains everything and the kitchen sink! It is absolutely amazing and when I had it, you could certainly share! Service has always been great, the food comes out quick, and it's always been fresh and hot! read more

Great Mexican restaurant. Large portions that will make two meals. Alambre with a Cold beer and lime, can't be beat.

Flavorful & hot, with generous portions. The mole sauce had a deep & tasty flavor profile. The meat was as tender and juicy. The service was quick, and the server was friendly. Great place! I just ate at La Villa for lunch today. I ordered the taco salad and asked that the guacamole be left on the side. I also asked for no tomato. What I received was a very hard shell with very little meat or lettuce. There was a massive amount of sour cream, and no cheese. The waitress was good, but not overly attentive, nor did she pay much attention to our table. I'm extremely disappointed, because they have always been wonderful in the past. A very friendly man in a buttoned down yellow shirt (their uniform) greeted me and offered me menus and a seat on a bench when I told him I wanted take out. All the prices were moderate, the seafood salad I decided on was $11.99. By the time I had gotten back from the bathroom (clean) they handed me my takeout bag. It included a large bag of homemade chips, salsa, napkins, plastic fork and a cute tin foil created basket with my salad. The shrimp and other seafood was plentiful and really hot, it was in a brownish gravy and I got the sense it was meant for an enchilada or burrito. They added some lettuce, tomato, guac and sour cream and it was in a taco bowl. I ate every last drop and had the remaining chips with breakfast. Nice work! read more

We stopped here on the way to Eureka Springs. They brought chips and salsa as soon as we sat down. It had been a long trip so that was appreciated. We ordered a margarita and some Queso, which they were also quick to bring. Note on the margarita: they don't skimp on the alcohol . Our food was just as quick and also delicious. The staff was nice. They were wearing gloves and mask and had sanitizer out everywhere for those that are concerned with that type of thing. All in all, it was a great experience. The only reason for the four star versus three was I was in the middle of Mena, AR. If you were to go to this restaurant anywhere with a strong Hispanic background, it would be mediocre. Because I was here in general, in the winter, in AR, was pretty decent. The wait-staff/servers were very young and phobic of everyone. But friendly. The salsa is a bit to salty for my liking and didn't have enough spice or cilantro in it. But the hot salsa was very tasty and hot! I got an enchilada plate and it was average. My husband got enchiladas Verde, but he said the meat had a different taste to it. Our friend said the same thing about the taste of his meat. He described the ground meat as tasting fishy. We were not sure if it was the cut of the meat or a spice they used. Being from Texas, I know Mexican food. What can I say? This little gem was pointed out by my sweet cousin. We met her and her family there for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised. In fact, we had the best meal from our whole vacation in Mena here! The hot sauce was a bit lame. I think they could really improve on that with a little work. They don't make their own tortillas, but we had the corn ones and they were actually not bad at all. The dish I had for my meal was the favorite of our waiter. I can't remember what the heck it was called, but it has chicken, shrimp, and beef all mixed in a wonderful sauce with veggies and a little bit of cheese melted in. It was scrumptious and had a tiny bit of heat. We put it on rice and sopped it up with our tortillas. It was large enough to share, and that is what we did.
