Came by for dinner Wed Aug 27, 2025 around 6pm and they were CLOSED. It was dark inside and they had a hung closed sign without any explanation. Their front door displayed their operating hours and they should've been open as they are closed on Sundays only. read more

The food was delicious! This place can be easily missed, so looked out for the big auto-sign since this place is before that. Affordable prices and the service were surprisingly attentive. There were also complementary Duros, wheel-shape chips. The owner kept checking on us and asked if we needed anything. I had the Rojas enchiladas, and at first, I thought it comes with chicken and red sauce, but I was wrong, so I know to add it next time. Anyway, the dish was still filling. In addition, I love that they have skillet potatoes as a side, which were tasty. The food came out fast, and the restaurant did a great job with the presentation of the dishes. I think my friend was more excited about his food than mine; he said it was one of the best tacos and quesadillas he ever tasted. He could not stop praising the food. Anyway, this will be one of my top 3 places for authentic Mexican food. read more

I really wanted to love what is happening here. A good family ran business gets my heart every time. I want to know the story and who was the force of nature that encouraged you. I just didn't find the flavor I wanted. The fault may have been shared with me. I want to purchase things that feel indicative of your family and traditional flavors. I bought as close to one of everything as was feasible. It was an hour before close and I don't think they were prepped for such an order. The presentation for to-go was great but the al pastor & chicken for the burrito was bland. The torta and chilaquiles was great options. We recently stopped in for authentic tacos, my first visit since it changed over from Hugo's. They only had barbacoa, al pastor and carnitas on this visit, the other meats including lengua they were out of. Barbacoa was moist and soft and plentiful with good flavor, my favorite of the bunch. Carnitas were not bad, but cooked very oily then chopped fine, not my favorite style but flavor was decent, and that creamy green salsa went well with it. Al pastor was also decent, but needed a bit more flavor, and more spiciness. Tacos are now $1.99 up from $1.50, and their $1 Taco Tuesday is no more :( Owner/manager is a very friendly and attentive guy, and told us new pricing was due to rise in food costs. But we went out of way for his Tuesday special, so it was a let down. So their tacos are a solid three stars, but my family loves their casual, comfortable dining room complete with sombrero pendant lights, a small water fountain and other pops of character. Plus they keep it very clean. Add that to the great service and it goes up to four stars for me. It's a fun little spot to visit and grab a taco or three! read more

I have been a little disheartened by the local Mexican scene as of late. I feel like it's been represented as trendy more than traditional. But El Dicho patches that up for me. "Street tacos" for a fraction of the price of most places? Yes, $1.50 per taco. I think there are many food trucks who offer them for $1, but I'll take 50 cents over $3-$5 per taco in some establishments. They have an assortment of meats to choose from. You can't go wrong with barbacoa or chicharrons (yummy fatty pork belly). Their breakfast is also excellent and the prices are incredible. Don't pass up on the coffee while you're there for brekkie, either. Side note: they have great fries. Are they homemade? Maybe? I don't know. But they're pretty good. I get them any time I order. The Cubano torta I ordered today was fat and singularly delicious, yes, but it wasn't what I'd been expecting. Imagine a Mexicanized version of the traditional Cubano, but with a breaded pork cutlet in lieu of the traditional jamon Iberico, and with no pickles or mayo. (Oh, and frankfurters, of all things! It sounds kinda implausible and bastardized, maybe, but it was/is really good. Hell, I had to bring half the sandwich home for later -- it was THAT freakin' big.) As always, the service was fast and friendly. (We've been eating here since this place was Hugo's Taquizas. It's right on the southernmost perimeter of Denniston Park -- our NW OKC neighborhood.) Street Tacos and Mexican Coke! Okay, this quarantine has caused me to falter in my vegan path in more than one occasion and today was no exception. I knew what I was doing, just like a drug addict chooses to get drugs. Only my drug is meat. I ordered an all pastor taco and an all pastor Gordita. Both of them were excellent. Their meat is marinated perfectly (honestly, I now have ideas for making vegan tacos because of it). After I ordered, they told me they'd bring it to my car and they did, along with a small cup of red and green sauce. The Red was good but hot, hot, hot! The green was just yum! read more

The food is incredibly delicious and made with grandmother love. I had the mulitas (pollo) which is my new favorite thing ever. Obsessed. Daughter had the enchiladas and husband had the menudo. He is super picky about menudo and loved it! The aguas frescas are fabulous as well. We had three: tamarind and melon and hibiscus. All are fresh and are clean on the palate. This place is a gem. I am always looking for a great Mexican restaurant in the core of OKC and I think I found one in El Dicho. It's extremely clean, bright and open. The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. I had the chilaquiles and they were great. The salsas were also really good, both the rojo and verde had a nice kick. Others at the table had the birra and the verde enchiladas and everyone was really pleased. The birra was beautiful and had a great kick to it. I would definitely be a regular here. read more

I got 2 tacos and a gordita. The people I was with got tortas and they looked wonderful. They said they were good too. My tacos were just ok. I could've made the same thing at home. Just meat and onions on a corn tortilla. My Gordita I had such high hopes for and I was sorely disappointed. The meat on here was very dry and I could tell it was going to have difficulties going down. The tortilla/bread pouch with the Gordita was very tough. I lived in El Paso for a number of years and those down there were so delicious and admittedly these were highly disappointing. The queso we got tasted canned and was very mediocre. Over all, this place was a huge let down. Long story short, I was hungry again a couple of hours later. There's too many good restaurants to waste money here. read more

Very nice place Very nice young lady that took care of me. Didn't like the cartoons on the tv blaring way to loud and no kids inside that I could see watching. I had the Erick Plate. It looked like a stir fry with chicken, beef , shrimp and vegetables. The best in this mix was the broccoli. The other vegetables and meats were not great. El Dicho replaced Hugo's Taquiza's at this location awhile back. I originally didn't think there could be an authentic taco joint that was better than Hugo's, but El Dicho proved me wrong. El Dicho provides consistently amazing tacos. The rice and beans are wonderful, and as a pro tip, ask for a side of the verde sauce which is usually served on the chilaquiles. And most importantly, they serve $1.00 tacos on Taco Tuesday! I've also had the chimichanga dinner, which is terrific. All of the prices are great; the value you get per dollar spent really is second to none. Finally, the family that operates this place is fantastic. They are sweet people who make efforts to befriend and learn about the regular patrons. Do yourself a favor and stop in for some delicious, authentic tacos at El Dicho. My wife and I come 1-2 times per week, and I expect that to continue for as long as they're in business!!! read more
