This is a good Mexican bakery. It is on the smaller side. There is a good size parking lot. When you walk in, you'll see bakery goods on the right, desserts straight ahead, and Mexican bread by the counter. I ordered a dozen tamales. It's about $24. The price has gone up since some of the previous reviews that said it was $16 or $20. I also ordered one chocolate Mexican bread that was a dollar something. The food was good but I'm not a fan of overpricing. I might stop in again to look at the other bakery items. You would put the items on a tray and bring them to the register. I wished they had a wrapper that goes on the tray before putting the items on. You can't tell if the trays have been washed or not. read more

Sorely disappointed. The breakfast pastries had more heavy dough and minimal fruit jam. Donut is tasteless beyond the sprinkled sugar.

After watching a Netflix show on Mexican treats, I had an itch for Mexican baked goodies. I remembered El Dorado since I used to live nearby, although I had never tried it. Since I have some dietary restrictions, I called ahead to ask if they used lard or animal fat. The gentleman explained that they use vegetable oil and margarine. I decided to pop in and check it out. The gentleman was very friendly and further explained the ingredients to me. It's very small inside and no seating, so it's take & go. Aside from baked treats, they do also have drip coffee. The way it works is, you grab a tray and tongs and pick out what you like, then they box it up. I went with a chocolate concha and a rice pudding donut. Both items were delicious! The concha sweet bread was light and fluffy, which was a welcome surprise, as I expected it to be dense. It was only $1.09. The rice pudding donut also had an interesting texture (i.e. crisp exterior) and tasted great. It cost $2.05. Not a huge selection, but if you're looking for a sweet tooth fix and want to try out something different, give El Dorado a shot. read more

Since we were unfamiliar with the baked goods, Jamie helped us by describing the various treats (what was inside them (like the nutella filled horn), how they were made, etc). It's refreshing to visit a new startup company with so much desire to please their customers. With it being my first visit owner Jamie was very polite, patient and willing to offer up free samples. I ended up buying a bag full to share. They do custom batches of unique authentic Mexican pastries throughout the day. When you visit, just grab a tray, a pair of tongs and make your way around the display cases, snatching up deliciousness. I'm already craving a return visit. I definitely want to check out the muffins. The fruit is sliced fresh to order and with the Mexican spices atop, it is a new all-time favorite. I just wish they were about 5 minutes closer. This little, family-run bakery is a treasure trove of goodness. Since this place opened just a few weeks ago, I've been here three times. What is my favorite thing at El Dorado? Why, their fruit cup of course! Seriously, if you are at all like me, when it's hot outside, don'tcha just want some nice, fresh, cold and tasty fruit? I do. And El Dorado has the best fruit cup - fruit bowl actually - I've ever had. They chop the fruit fresh, so it takes a few minutes. But it is sooooo worth it. They load up a 16-ounce container with pineapple, mango, seedless watermelon, cantaloupe and even cucumber when they have it. Then they will either a) serve it like that; b) sprinkle some kind of spicy powder on it or c) sprinkle some other seasoning on it that is even more spicy. I've gone with Option B both times, and it transforms the fruit. The little spicy seasoning makes the fruit pop and also makes the flavors more intense. Plus, the seasoning counter-balances the sweetness of the fruit. I literally cannot stop eating the fruit bowl. And get this: The price for this little gem is a whopping $3.50. You simply cannot beat that deal. Anytime, anywhere, any place. In addition to this fruit bowl, El Dorado makes homemade tamales and other stuff. I haven't had those items yet. What I have had, however, is this sweetened sesame bread roll-up thing stuffed with cream cheese and fresh jalapeños and served warm. It's outrageously good. It was made moments before I wandered into the shop. I asked the owner what was good right now, and he pointed me in that direction. He is a wise, wise man. The mixture of cream cheese with the jalapeños in the savory bread was unlike anything I've ever had. I've also had this item called a Bolillos (I think). It's a light, fluffy bread kind of pastry with a sweet topping just perfect for dunking into coffee. It costs all of 99 cents. So for less than 5 bucks, I had fresh fruit and a bakery item. Easily enough to feed two people. As good as the food is, the people that run the place are so nice. And helpful. Being a gringo, I don't know my Mexican baked goods. But they helped me make good choices and so far, I have nothing but love for these guys. I urge you to check them out. They are open from 7 AM - 9 PM daily and are right next to Los Burritos Tapatios. And when you go, get the fruit cup. You will thank me for it with every delicious bite you take. Also, they make custom birthday cakes or cakes for all occasions. The owner showed me the cake he made for his four-year-old daughter. We read all the reviews and were pleased to find this little place on the east side of Naperville. My girls and I chose some conchas and concha muffins and other bakery items and they were delicious. The owner's daughter Adriana was at the counter and she was lovely. We didn't try the fruit everyone mentions but we will next time. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and the selection was fresh- literally hot treats were being brought out and made while we were there in the middle of the afternoon. The treats were delicious! This is the first time that I used El Dorado Bakery. I wanted a birthday cake. I went to the bakery and ordered the cake one week in advance. I specified exactly what I wanted. When I went to pick up the cake a week later after I ordered it, the cake was not decorated and no "Happy Birthday" They had me wait almost an hour to put the decoration. They messed it up and the Happy Birthday was barely visible. I was not happy with the presentation of the cake, but it was too late to get another one, so I had to take it. Located next to burritos tapatillos so you can kill 2 birds with one stone. They have 2 types of conchas, one is less dry. These are a little more dense than most- still very delicious. This place is uhhhhhh-mazing. Blink and you'll miss it tucked into a tiny storefront on Ogden Ave in Lisle, just east of Naperville Rd, right next to Los Burritos Tapatios. First off, the fruit bowls. My god, the fruit bowls. Have I mentioned the fruit bowls? The cut the fruit fresh when you order it, and finish it off with this magic dust (really just a simple combo of lime, chili powder, and a dash of salt I believe) that makes it absolutely explode with flavor. Every time I've had it the fruit is amazingly fresh and ripe. For $3.50, the big serving is an absolute steal and I am 100% serious when I say it's worth double that amount. This past weekend I stopped in and asked for 5 of them to bring over to a friend's new home where we had a group of people helping them move in. After checking to make sure they had enough fresh fruit on hand to accommodate, they asked if I'd like them to make it all together in one big serving for the group, which was perfect. It was an absolute hit, people could not stop eating it and talking about how amazing it was. Now onto the baked goods, INCREDIBLE! They always have a wide variety of freshly made donuts, pastries, breads, etc... and I've yet to try one that wasn't delicious. I brought about 2 dozed assorted items to the aforementioned moving party and people attacked them like rabid dogs fighting over a hunk of raw meat. Pan dulces, pineapple empanadas, apple turnovers, sugar and chocolate donuts, some kind of cream filled miracle that the friendly and helpful girl in the shop told me were just called 'cones,' every item was spectacular.
