This is a recent discovery and I wished I had discovered it sooner! Here's what we have tried so far: 1) Creme brulee donut* 2) Caramel banana crunch cruffin* 3) Tiramisu cruffin* 4) Chocolate donut with vanilla glaze and sprinkles 5) Vanilla donut with strawberry glaze and sprinkles 6) Vanilla glazed old-fashioned donut The ones marked with an asterisk are our favorites. Those items are a bit pricier than the rest but they are quite unique. The cruffins are flakey, sugary without being overwhelming, creamy but subtle, and very satisfying. I have a strong sweet tooth and I am greedy. So I generally like to try more than one item in one sitting. These portions are not small and I would recommend sharing if you want to try a variety. I have monthly appointments in the general area and I try to plan it so that I will have enough time before or after my appointment to make a quick stop at Fiene's. This bakery is 5 YEARS old! I cannot believe I have never tried it. In a pinch for a red velvet cake I made a call the day before and YES! They could do it. I got a whipped filling and buttercream frosting. This cake was moist and the frostings were so good! The options of cakes and fillings- never ending! I don't know how I didn't know about this spot before! Thanks to my friend for introducing it to me! Stopped in on a Sunday and it was pretty busy! A lot of people were in and out, which is great! The staff were nice and the line moved really fast! I got a quick glance and what was available so I knew what to get so that I wouldn't feel pressured once it was my turn. There were so many different baked goods to choose from! Although, I decided to get a paczki since I usually can never get them when they are available because of work. They offer doughnuts, pies, cookies, brownies, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee. The inside is very bright, welcoming and clean. They do not offer any indoor seating, however there are a few tables and chairs outside. Staff members were friendly and helpful. During my first of many visits I did not feel rushed to make a decision right away. My husband and I shared 2 donuts, the custard (Boston crème) and the cookies and cream. Pricing is fair - it is higher when compared to a Dunkin' Donuts, but the portion and quality they offer is waaaay larger. Both donuts were fresh and the perfect texture. Today I found Fiene's Bakery. Went shopping for Paczyki online (Apricot specifically) and Fiene's met the need. (Happy wife and all that). Surprised to find that intersection (Raymond & rt 34) has expanded since we lived in the area. Not a bad ride from Oswego. So I met my need for Apricot and much more. I picked up my order today; a dozen. The order required two boxes and the weight surprised me. Each paczyki weighs in at about 8 ounces. The taste is outstanding. Soft dough , overwhelming amount of filling, nearly a meal by itself. All this preordered for quick pickup. Since I was there I got a couple of chocolate covered cake donuts. (My ongoing search for donuts of my childhood.) They really set the stage and desire for more. I can only say Fiene's Bakery is by a most favorable stop in the area. I came in on a weekday about an hour before closing and they still had a nice selection available. I went with a pecan sticky bun, buckeye brownie, and slice of carrot cake. The pecan bun was so delicious - buttery, nutty, and had tons of cinnamon. I warmed it up in the microwave for a bit and it was even better! The brownie was great and my friend loved the carrot cake. In my quest to find real food, I discovered Fiene's bakery. It was a revelation of flavor trying their crème brûlée kronnut. The croissant pastry was light and fluffy. The internal custard was authentic, unlike many cream-filled donuts of today. Where they use premade custard to stuff the donut. You could taste the difference in its creamy texture and, most of all, its flavor. It brought me back to my childhood when bakeries were popular places to purchase baked goods before chain stores and grocery stores took over the baked goods market. If you're in the Naperville area I highly recommend trying out Fiene's Bakery they.smell like heaven inside and make a good traditional coffee that you can drink black. I have bought a couple tier cakes for parties and have purchased a few pastries/donuts. I cannot resist the taste! The cost is quite steep - otherwise I would order cakes from here every party based solely off presentation and taste. Fiene's can construct nearly any replica cake you choose and honestly, they've done a better job than the template I've given them to work with. The staff are all very accommodating and understanding. Even the outside of the building gives elegant and luxurious vibes. You know it's fancy as soon as you see the building then when entering the store you're hit with the most amazing and tempting smells and sights of beautiful pastries. The only downside is cost. I do think they pay close attention to every detail which inevitably increases the price, but when I looked in the surrounding areas for other bakeries, they are significantly cheaper. I cannot say whether the price is justifiable as I have not ordered cakes from these other local bakeries but I can say Fienes does not disappoint when it comes to taste, quality and presentation. read more

Went back a second time to Fiene's. When it's busy it's hard to tell who's next, who has or hasn't ordered, etc. Not sure if there's a solution to that. Anyway, the service here is so friendly compared to some bakeries I've been to. This time I ordered a slice of carrot cake, a peanut butter cookie, and a sugar cookie for my son since they were out of donuts. The sugar cookie was nothing special, but the carrot cake was outstanding. It wasn't overly sweet like the carrot cake I had a while back from Smallcakes.
