    Beef Or Chicken Chimichanga (grilled)
    Hannah B.

Came here for a dinner date and had a pretty good time. We were sat right away, and started off with some taquitos. They came out pretty fast and were tasty. For dinner I had the chimichanga with chicken. The waitress asked if I wanted grilled or fried and thought she meant the chicken ‍ so I said grilled. I was disappointed when it came out and realized she had meant the whole thing. It was pretty good in the end. The beans and rice were a bit bland. Realizing most of the reviews were about how good the steak was - I wish I had got something with that. My husband got the Santa Fe Burrito and I had a bite - so yummy! Decor was nice, there was a solo guy singing karaoke that was a bit distracting, but other than that a pretty good time. Hope to be back to try the steak!

I went in there today to get some food and the place was so nice fancy and clean. All the waitresses were in red tshirt and they were nice and friendly. The place has a big. Ar which has some decent drinks and beers. The food itself is not like crazy good but it good enough for me not to complain about it, adding to that good service alsywas plays a rule. Parking is very big and has many spots near by if it was full.

I visit El gavilan with my mon We were hungry and decided to go there. They had tables out side the weather was nice. We order a ceviche to start but I was very disappointed because the ceviche taste old and the shrimp had no taste they put a lot of lime I like ceviche but I had never taste anything like this. Next we order Carne Asada and a fajita mix it good flavor. I will be returning here again but I will not recommend anybody to order Ceviche. As far as the service it was ok not the friendless. I just enjoy the time being with my mother.

Great service, they make you feel quite at home. Grreat selection on the menu with varying options and varying prices. The atmosphere is typical of a TexMex place. Food is fresh and excellent in taste. Be sure to get a pupuresia with your meal.

There is also valet options available too. Outside of that, let's step into the inside.... I attended Live K on a Friday night for a friends birthday. She did not book an isolated room but the opened floor was just that - an opened floor, people walking past, mics being passed around the floor, the bar steps away, all of the things. It's fun. BUT, I'm not going to lie - I will NOT order food or drinks from this place. I was told from the birthday girl that there is a happy hour with food and drinks from I think 4-7p but I arrived later than that, and paid MORE than full price for drinks in my opinion...... .....4 shots.... & 1 Red Bull, $124....... The location itself is awful but that's the wharf for you. Parking is horrible and the garage is super expensive so the new location at the harbor may be better. We had a separate room and it came with two mics which was fun for us to duet or just share a song with a friend. The database is hard to navigate and a great deal of the songs don't come with lyrics so that was a bummer. Also they don't display the song when you're singing, sometimes it would be random figures on the screen so that was different. My friend ordered skewers, wings and fries and that was fairly solid so I don't have much input there. The bathroom was disgusting. Water leaking all over the floor and trash cans overflowing. I'd come back to the location if I could carpool but with the new location at the harbor that would be easier to navigate for sure.

I took too long to make up my mind regarding food and the item that was recommended to me wasn't on the late night menu. Once we got to the karaoke room we had a great time. We had one instance where we heard the feedback from another room but the staff came and fixed it; any time we used the bell for assistance them came quickly. The food was amazing and everything was so fresh it was almost too hot (temperature wise) to eat. The pork gyoza were delicious. I was also able to make substitutions to the bulgogi fried rice (just onions, no other veggies, with eggs, and added shrimp). Loved the presentation of the rice but it tasted it even better, pretty sure I demolished it in about 15 mins once it cooled down. The mango mochi was a perfect sweet touch after the food. When we left around midnight (on a Saturday) there was a dj in the front bar area and space had been cleared for a dance floor. Definitely recommend for a fun weekend outing!

There's open karaoke as well but I don't know if people sing often in the lobby. So I have been here many times for my friends and even booked a room as well. Rooms are spacious and they do have pretty nice audio. But there is one thing that truly irks me every time I come here. So they have a touch screen where you can add your karaoke songs through YouTube or through their system but getting the videos to load is a pain. It's annoying to deal with because it skips to the next song in queue so if you are with a group of 5+ more people, it can be very stressful. The worst part is we asked the staff about it and they aren't really sure what to do about the connection. I mean they should really fix that because I'm sure it gets people upset. No one wants their song to be skipped. Aside from that, you can also hear the loudness from other rooms, I don't expect that to be an issue but it's noticeable on busy nights. If you do plan to go here, there's one thing I highly advise before going. Check their socials if they are hosting any event and call ahead to know about the room rates. The website shows their original flat rates for the room but in events, they raise the prices up. If you go in person, check the menu before deciding to put your money down. This place also adds gratuity to the bill so be prepared to drop down a lot. While I frequently come back here just to hang out with friends, karaoke is one of my favorite hobbies. Its never a good time when your song doesn't get played or you get charged way more than you should.

In March 2018, my girlfriend at the time wanted to go here as there was a group of people going for St. Patrick's Day. We went here along with her young pre-teen daughter. They almost weren't going to let us in, but my g/f assured we just needed to eat, and they said since it was before 9 PM, it'd be ok. I enjoyed my Shepherd's Pie, a solid option here. After eating, there was dancing on the dance floor and a couple of people I knew. Then, my g/f went out to the dance floor. I'm sitting at the table with my g/f's pre-teen daughter who fell asleep. It was awkward for me especially since someone asked me if she was ok, and I said she's just tired. We left sometime in the midnight hour. But the fact of the matter was that my g/f shouldn't have put her daughter in that situation. On a positive, her daughter graduated high school & is still alive today in 2025, so her mom did something right. The other time I was here was in February 2023. This was my first time ever going to The Fillmore. I went to see The HU!…read more I was really impressed with all the venue staff. Everyone was very nice and helpful, well ... aside from maybe one employee at the bar who didn't seem to care to answer my questions about the food, but finally did after way too much effort of repeatedly asking on my part. By the way, I'd recommend that if you're hungry, you eat before you go! The little 'food' they have isn't even guaranteed to be there and yeah, maybe you know this already, but my GOD it was expensive! More than $9 for a not-large bag of chips and a bit of dip to go with them. The dip was hot, so that was nice! Of course, eating this without a table can be .... drippy! Other than that one person, though, everyone else was really super-duper nice and helpful, thank goodness! I got to encounter the bag-check guy because I'd brought in a backpack, not knowing that wasn't allowed. I'm glad I got out all my essentials and had them in my jacket pocket so I didn't have to go fumbling through my bag to get them out when it was put away for the duration of the show. I found out, also, that you can't even have one sip of water in the venue if you bring it in from outside (Yes, of course, I do mean if someone sees you doing it or hears of you wanting to do it in advance of your ... not ending-up doing it!) I said I was going to take a sip of my water and was told, essentially, "Nope! You're not!" It was worded more nicely than this, though. This aspect -- niceness -- is huge for me. I've had issues and difficulties with other venues in D.C. -- yes, this is Maryland, so maybe people are nicer at venues in Maryland, but in this area I'd encountered some problematic workers at both Lisner and The 9:30 Club/ Nightclub 9:30 -- staff just attacking me for no reason when I wasn't bothering anyone, but nevertheless I was attacked by staff and so to be somewhere where nothing like that happened and I felt safe was a huge relief! Thank GOD! It's way more of what you'd want in a club-like experience than what I experienced at those other two. I guess most people won't want to do this because it could be a gamble, but just FYI, if you buy your ticket/s in person, you save on the fees you have to pay buying it/ them online .... That's what I did! I prefer the adventure and fun of buying in person! You can do that in advance, too, I suppose -- but I bought mine the night of the show, once it had already started. If you want to upgrade your experience, that apparently has to be done in advance. I didn't ask about it while there to make sure, but that's what I read online before going. It seems the 'Live Nation VIP' section is what that upgrade is. Apparently, they have a bit of more 'real' food (though I didn't think it sounded great enough, necessarily), and ... tables! Plus, it's directly across from the stage -- well, kind of. It's across from and way above it, upstairs. Most of the seating here ... isn't. It's standing room only. There are a few seats upstairs for people who need them -- you need to call in advance to secure one. The seats are thickly-cushioned and do not move. They're heavy metal chairs that fold down and up, but are securely attached to the low wall behind. Another thing that impressed me about this particular show was that the audience members were all super-kind. Everyone was smiling and welcoming! It's amazing how many really genuinely nice experiences I had with others at this show. As I heard another attendee say afterwards, there was a lot of diversity at this show that you don't see at a lot of other (I'm guessing she meant heavy metal) concerts. This diversity was showcased in a very visually accessible way through not only smiles and different dancing styles, plus arms waving in a welcoming way, encouraging one to go where they wanted, but also in the attire of the attendees. I've never seen such beautiful garments at a concert! Most people wore the more usual-for-metal-concerts mostly all-black attire but those who didn't wore some really bright fun things -- and then there were the gorgeous embroidered, brocade, silken and more in some cases traditional and in some cases modern absolutely gorgeous eye-feasts! In that way, it was more like going to see the Dalai Lama or another figure than a rock band. And The HU are great figures! The light show was really cool, and there was a huge screen behind the band showing images and lyrics. There are televisions situated on the balcony so you can see what's going on onstage in case you cannot get the full picture by looking directly from your seat or (standing) station. The hand dryer in the bathroom is the loudest I have ever heard! It was so surprising, it overtook my ears. Other than that, the bathrooms are pretty nice -- not great, but probably pretty great considering how many people must be using them close together (time-wise) and all that. Cool wall décor in the halls is appreciated .... Overall, nice!

The line to enter the theater was long, but the security and admission process were surprisingly efficient and well organized. The staff clearly knew what they were doing and handled the large crowd professionally. I would definitely recommend checking their website beforehand to see what items are allowed inside. They stayed attentive to the audience throughout the show, handed out water and earplugs, and helped people when needed. The opening DJ was unfortunately pretty underwhelming and felt more like excessive noise at times, but the concert itself was fantastic. The lighting and sound quality were both solid, and I had an amazing time overall. I especially loved how intimate the venue felt and how close the audience could be to the artist, making the interaction feel more personal. There is also public parking a few blocks away from The Fillmore Silver Spring, which made getting there convenient. They also sell food and drinks inside, although we skipped them this time.
