Get the seafood paella and the squid ink paella! They are what they are known for. I've tried other paellas before but this one is by far my favorite. Seafood paella 10/10: rice is cooked well and infused with a hearty seafood flavor. Comes with a lemon, which really balances out the seafood flavor well. Squid ink paella 8/10: delicious but a tad too salty for me. If you are sensitive to salt, I don't recommend it. Otherwise, it is very tasty! Grilled squid: 6/10 good but nothing mind blowing and felt overpriced compared to other places like Puertocillo. Ham croquettes: 7/10 tad too salty but tasty. Kind of overpriced. Service: the servers are nice and welcoming. Ambiance: comfy seating and can easily accommodate big parties. I went late at night so I didn't have to wait for my party of 7. read more

While I was in Barcelona, I knew that I wanted to try out good paella somewhere while I was in Spain. A friend recommended El Glop to me since they enjoyed it a lot, so I decided to check it out since it wasn't too far from where I was. I decided to come for lunch, and I arrived pretty soon after they opened so I was able to be seated right away. The interior is nice and homey, with quite a few tables inside. I decided to get the seafood paella since that's what my friend recommended. I have to say that this is probably one of the best paella I've had, the flavors were great and the texture was on-point. I finished one whole paella on my own, which I was surprised by since I thought that I would have leftovers at least. The seafood was also tasty, so overall I was very impressed. OMG! I went to the la Sagrada Família and we stoped by here for a snack. I ordered a steak and it came out fine. It was worth it!

This place was listed as a good place to eat in Barcelona, but I wouldn't come back. We got some of their meat dishes and things were dry. The one good dish we had was their black rice paella, which had a good amount of seafood and wasn't too salty like other paellas we have had. We got the sangria as well, it was good! We did find a piece of plastic wrapper in the jug and told the waiter who replaced it. A bit disappointed, but if you go get the black rice paella! They have indoor and outdoor seating. read more

One of my friends who is now a local recommended this place so we definitely had to go! The black rice paella was the star of the show in service was overall good. I thought it was strange because I asked one guy just to confirm if they were closing and he couldn't understand me so he got someone else to take care of us only for them to confirm that they weren't closing. We stopped here after a long day of shopping and walking around the city. It is a huge authentic Spanish food restaurant that feels like you are in a family home eating. They offered great pricing and a lot of choices for food including paella. Although I was looking for a lighter meal, the paella options did look enticing. Coming from someone in the US, this restaurant was fantastic! The seafood paella is sooooo good and the salmon's sauce was delicious. The sangria was sweet and tasted great. We had heard about this place from the front desk guy at our hotel and boy was it such a good recommendation. When you first walk into this restaurant you get a true feel of what Barcelona is all about with native decor and hanging cured meats around the walls it was such a beautiful sight. We knew that coming to Spain we wanted to try the paella and that we did. The paella was so delicious and you could really tell that they used quality ingredients in this dish. It was definitely everything that I thought it was going to be and more. The bread that they had brought out was a whole new experience for us as well. They served it with whole cloves of garlic and small tomatoes that you cut and prepare on the toast. Such simple ingredients made bread taste so much better. Lastly I also had the whiskey sangria which wasn't very strong but it was still very tasty. read more

Off a recommendation of our hotel, we wanted something close by. The El Glop Braseria was very nice. Loved the decor. The food was excellent. I got the Seafood paella and had to try Cava, a local wine I believe. Delicious! The Cava is a must if anything to taste it. It is a white wine but not dry or sweet. A little taste of fruit, but subtle. My husband got the All meat combo. Ribs, sausage, chicken and pork. He loved it! However this is a plate you should share. It's a lot of meat. Our server however was a different story. The experience would have been great if our server was a little more responsive or even professional. However I noted that he seemed new to the job, so we tried to cut him a little slack. But to wait 15 minutes or more after we finished our meal AND to have to ask him if we could please get our check. Again we tried to understand he may have been new, but we noticed people who came in after us, were paying and leaving. Good food! Beautiful decor! Service left a lot to be desired. read more

My wife called me to tell me she found a restaurant near our hotel called "El Glop" and I immediately agreed... We have to try it!! We had a really awesome octopus appetizer, duck confit, and the ubiquitous bread with tomato. To top it off, we had an amazing tangerine sherbet desert! I'm not sure what I was expecting from a venue called "El Glop." In English the word sounds unappetizing, but the food they serve is the opposite. I ordered a mixed meat platter and was pleased with everything on my plate. The service was attentive even though the place was busy. The pre-siesta crowd descended just after I sat down, so if you're hungry, make sure you give yourself extra time to get here - they had to turn people away. I was alone but I did see large groups of people, include families with small children, so they seem to be accomodating of most any group you might have. Also, they have menus in English, for anyone whose unsure of their ability to order in Spanish. read more

Great tapas place! We took advantage of the lunch specials (about 10€ for app, entree, and choice of beverage or dessert) and supplemented with two single person paella's. It was way too much food for three of us but it was so worth it! I had the seafood salad as the app. It was tangy and mixed with a mayo type sauce - seafood was so fresh and it mixed well with the other elements of the dish. The entrees were veal and fish of the day(sardines). Superb and for 10 euros you really can't beat it. But if you want to really experience something delicious you have to try the black rice! It's a squid ink rice paella with seafood and it was so worth overstuffing ourselves with food. :) The second paella was chicken for the non-seafood person in our group but it was also excellent. Fun spot to sit outside and people watch and you can indulge in a pitcher of sangria that has a touch of fizz to it, quite drinkable and friendly staff - had the paella with rabbit and snails - use the provided long toothpicks to dig out the snail meat, and drizzle some of the tablets olive oil on everything to bring out the flavor - food comes right over from the regular restaurant right next to the outside seating - we had not only tourists but locals eating here and it was well priced - if you sit in the downstairs part of the restaurant you can see the food being prepared by n an open kitchen - if you do not want sangria get a carafe of the house wine - tapped off of barrels or a big mug of beer - so good I am taking others from my trip back tonight! read more

I came here with friends while visiting Barcelona for Pride in late June. We had been craving paella, and found the place almost by accident. We ordered the seafood paella, and while it took a long time to get to us (it is listed in the menu that it takes a while), we didn't mind. It was absolutely delicious and worth all the 15 or so Euro that I paid for my portion. Aside from that, the waiters were very nice! They kind of forget about your existence, but it's like that in all of Spain. Just make sure to get their attention when you need them and you'll be fine. read more
