Except, I ordered and paid for a separate guacamole salad. It is pictured on the menu and I have ordered it before. So, I was 100% that I didn't get it. They passed the phone around as if they didn't understand and never offered to make things right. This isn't my first problem with them (missing food, spoiled pineapple & spoiled tomatoes.) El Gran Puerto in Stuart's Draft is probably my favorite amongst their restaurants in perspective neighboring cities. The service is always top notch and the food never disappoints. My go to dish there is the Arroz Con Camerones, its shrimp, vegetables on a bed of Spanish rice and queso cheese. If your not a seafood person, they do have this dish with chicken (pollo). There is indoor/outdoor seating and both area's are nicely decorated with traditional pieces of Mexican/Spanish culture. Shout out to Juan and Pepe, they are the BEST!!!! read more

I'll request a substitute for the rice next time. (Yes, there will be a next time). Portion size is smaller than I'm used to, especially the salsa (about 2 tablespoons in the bottom of a deep bowl), but they had no problem bringing more. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This is a sister restaurant to the one in Staunton. It is a hole in the wall but has great home made food. I don't live near either location but the Staunton staffers are more attentive. I Frequent this place on Tuesday's for their 99 cent mini margaritas. Outside of having cheap drinks the food is also excellent. Some of the most frustrating service ever experienced! All male staff treat women customers with total disdain. I thought this sexist behavior was behind us! Even if the food had been decent, the frustration of trying to get a napkin and the check while all around us tables with men were handled with attention is just not worth it. Standard $10 Mexican restaurant. Nothing super exciting, but good and consistent. I usually get the Chori-Pollo because I have a chorizo problem. The taquitos and Tacos al Pastor are other favorites. Ask for the other salsa and don't bother with the fried ice cream as it's just rice crispy coated vanilla ice cream w/ way to many toppings. We ordered a quesadilla Azteca, chicken quesadilla, 2 chicken burritos, 2 tamale, an order of chips and salsa in addition to what you usually get and an order of guacamole. What we got was the most bland food I have ever had in any Mexican restaurant. You gave us condiment cups full of salsa and half way full of guacamole. Then on top of everything the chicken quesadilla my husband ordered turned out to be a little tiny quesadilla not even a meal. And the filling in my quesadilla Azteca was so salty, it was inedible. Absolutely the last time we step foot in your establishment. No I did not call to complain because I've done that once before and was treated so disrespectfully that I was embarrassed. My family loves this place. We are frequent patrons; so much so that our favorite drinks & Queso Fundido are waiting at our booth shortly after we walk in. If you want to try something different, the Tacos al Pastor are great. My mom always orders a burrito Jalisco, which is enormous & always leaves her with leftovers. I just picked up a takeout order and I am totally disgusted with my food and the service. In the first place I ordered a Vegetarian burrito and when I got home and opened the package I found a beef (disgusting) burrito. The cheese sauce was totally bland, Hello it's Mexican! So the only thing I had for dinner was chips and a few french fries all for $15. When I took beck the burrito they gave me the cash for the burrito and a feeble apology but no attempt to make up for my inconvenience. This is the first time I had tried El Gran Puerto in well over a year because I was not impressed with their food the first time I visited. I will never go there again I will make the trip to Waynesboro and go to Plaza Azteca. I can't figure out how El Gran Puerto got a 4 star rating, Never again! read more
