My son was in for business and we met him halfway for dinner. I (of course) used Yelp to find a good Mexican restaurant in Statesville and this one was highly recommended. As we got close I saw it was attached to a gas station and we we a bit sceptical but decided to give it a try. So glad we did because it was delicious. We had 2 orders of chicken fajitas and a chicken quesadilla. To start, the chips we're super fresh and the salsa was delicious. They also served it with a dish of refried beans and melted cheese but the beans weren't completely mushy there were still actual beans in the dish and quite surprised to have something like that but very thankful as it was very good. Very authentic and very friendly staff. The tortillas are definitely handmade in-house and the chicken was very tender and they give you a generous amount. In fact you can probably just order the one person fajitas for two people if you order the two person you better be really hungry. My son had the chicken quesadilla and it was monstrous and size and very good as well. I would definitely come back here and this is a place where you don't judge a book by its cover. read more

Flavor was great, good portion and not fatty. Only downside to meal, $40.69. Yes, each taco was $5.25/ea plus $6.75 for rice/beans. If I was local, I would frequent but this is abit much for 4tacos. Wrote a review after they opened that has disappeared. This one three go tos for Mexican food in the area. Service is always friendly and really wonder if two of these women ever take a day off? This place is attached to a gas station. Not what I expected. I'd say it was pretty authentic. They start you off with a bean dip, salsa, and green and red hot sauce. I had the Mocajete for my entree which had chorizo, shrimp, chicken, steak, cactus, and onion blossoms, it had good flavor. This is some of the absolute finest Mexican food I have eaten. I've traveled to Mexico and lived in both California and Texas. We stopped hoping to find a decent meal. Reviews were strong, but you know how that can go. I was flabbergasted. Try the salsa matcha and salsa verde, both were excellent. My wife had enchiladas and tacos. I went veggie with beans, rice, tortillas, and all the fixins. Total bill was $23! I felt like I was stealing so we left a $10 tip. Service was fast, polite, and attentive. Excellent mexican food with good seasoning. My wife and I got the molcajete, which is a grill combination of steak, chicken, shrimp, and chorizo. I was a large amount and we had left over to take home. The place is easy to mix, as it is in a gas station complex It is close to exit but have to travel about 1/2 mile. Hasn't been open long but food and service and value is right on. Part of the same building as a Mobile Gas Station. Previously it was a short lived Long John's Silver (for the second time. Service was horrible and that Long John's Silver eventually closed I noticed that El Jarocho which is the name of the new Mexican Restaurant that opened in the sample location about a month ago. Tried it last Tuesday and found out that it was Taco Tuesday with Beef Taco's going for $0.99 each. Had three and will Iced Tea, came to under $5.00. Not the little wimpy taco's you normally get at that price but honest large stuffed Taco's brimming with Cheese. Salsa was a bit mild so I asked for some Red Sauce and it did have a kick to it. Went back today and took two coworkers with me and they enjoyed El Jarocho as well. Very close to the office so found a new lunch spot that will add some variety to lunch. I took my sisters here to enjoy dinner after a 6 hour car ride and they did not enjoy their meals, when informing the waitress, she made it seem as if they didn't know what they ordered. I again informed her, they knew what they ordered, they just simply did not like the taste. Usually at restaurants, if the customer does not like their meal or any alternative, it is taken off of the bill. When asked about this, they did not care. In fact it was "well we prepared it so you have to pay" I have NEVER experienced such terrible service while still having to pay for a meal that was not eaten nor enjoyed. read more
