Best restaurant on salt spring. After a brutal attempt to have breakfast at morning side bakery - we left empty handed, disgusted and starving. Still hungry we later stumbled across El Taco Loco after tree house could not seat us outside. A couple of blessings in disguise! The line for takeout was long so we decided to eat in the restaurant - much less busy- not sure why. Loved the atmosphere- converted gas station and garage. It was a nice day so sitting in the converted car bays with the breeze and the wall decor made us feel like we were really in Mexico! The hip hop music did not though- play some Mexican music!! Loved the bob Marley picture made from bottle caps! Some of the best margaritas outside Mexico and friendly staff. I'm not a huge portion person so the burritos scared me off. They were massive. We decided to share a double order of nachos which was plenty for 3 to share as a hearty snack. We then shared a deep fried ice cream in a waffle bowl. The nachos appeared freshly fried, had great onions and salsa and I loved that they came already dressed- sour cream squirted on and perfectly heated jalapeños. A side of guacamole rounded it out! Jaritos Soda-many flavours and real Mexican Coke. The whole lunch rang in at about $40. If I lived there I'd be there every day!!FANTASTIC!! read more

This place was delicious! The tacos are big and I think my eyes were bigger than my stomach because I ordered three: steak, chicken and battered mahi mahi. They were all great & full of toppings, which you choose in line. Guac and cheese are extra and not really needed in my opinion (although the guac was tasty). There are a few seats inside, the majority of the seating is outside. Lots of hot sauce available for purchase here as well. read more

The best burrito I've ever had! I had the battered mahi mahi - all the ingredients were so fresh and delicious and the staff were very generous with portions. The service was also top notch! Everyone was so friendly and at one point the owner came out to ask us how we were enjoying our meal and gave us recommendations for things to do and see around the island. Highly highly recommend. Tried to eat here, they closed almost an HOUR early (no signs) on a long weekend. Server was pretty rude when we asked to order vegetarian (they were out of everything else). They could have been nicer or even posted a sign that they were closing early. There was no need to be rude. We won't ever try to go back again. read more

Larry and El Loco Taco just finished catering our wedding this past weekend and I can't say enough about how wonderful it was! I had the fattest burrito of my life here. Very tasty!! Full of goodness!! You can get vegan tacos and burritos. You know I did think the prices were a bit extreme but I mean it's quite the bang for your buck I gotta say. However, my boyfriend DID order (and pay) for guac on his tacos and he did NOT receive such guac on either one of his vegan tacos.
