OK, let's get the weird things out of the way first. Everybody knows salads are boring, right. Well not always. Best salad I've had, maybe better than at home. Second, on Salt Spring everywhere is a zoo Saturdays. Wrong again! Mondays and Fridays are the busiest for this place because only the locals know of it and locals avoid down town Ganges on weekends.
How it works. You choose from a list of ingredients, (see the choice on the side of the truck). They quickly pull it together (no cooking, go figure).
Great fresh ingredients and generous portions all at $9 no matter what you order. They provide compostable container and cutlery. They are located adjacent to Mahon Hall.
Turns out that GISS stands for Gulf Islands Senior Secondary. This is organic food grown and served by local High School Students! I had the most amazing combination of tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, feta, pesto pasta, and a few other things.
Looks like this will be a regular on my visits to Salt Spring. read more
