Bad food. Good service and environment. My mom and I stopped by after seeing Blue Beetle the other day. Were in the mood for some Mexican food and our usual Azteca in Madison Heights was closed at the time. As soon as we stepped in we felt like we were transported back to Mexico. Authentic music, vibe and we were the only non latinos. Sadly that's where the good experience ended. My mom got the trio fajita, I ordered nachos and 2 red Birria tacos. The tacos were plain and had no flavour. The nachos were stale, barely had any meat and the cheese they use tastes like Kraft as opposed to Azteca and most of southwest Detroit's Oaxaca cheese. It shows too. The nachos lack any real sense of taste and desperately needed something to spice them up. The birria tacos looked fresh, but just had no real taste to them. We ended up spending almost 60 bucks in there and needless to say my mom was very upset with having to pay for that quality of food at that price. Last time I'll be cheating on my usual Mexican spot lol.

Why do all the Mexican Restaurants have to be in Pontiac? Anyways, I was hungry for Mexican food and wanted to try this place out. I was starving, and thought I would give it a try. Walking in, the place is colorful with plenty of seating. They have a spacious bar area, along with a dining room and some kind of party room in the back. I was seated and the server brought out chips and three different kinds of salsa. BUT, there was no plates provided for the chips, just the basket. (I'm okay with eating chips out of the basket, but what if I had company?) Also, only one small dipping cup was provided for the salsas. I ended up trying all three, and liked the spicy one the best! Eventually, the server came over and took my order. I noticed that the menu offers lots of options, but were pretty beat up. Also, I wanted a lunch plate and not a dinner plate of tacos. She said that the taco dinner plate is all that they have. Fine. I ordered it and waited. I watched TV on mute and eventually the food came out. HUGE portions considering the dinner plate was under $10. I was thrilled! The tacos were fabulous, and the rice and beans were excellent as well. I also ordered water and a sprite, both of which came out in huge glasses. Good thing, because I never got a refill! Ok then. Overall, I really liked it here. Food was really good, service was all right, but I docked a star for the lack of the A) container to try the 3 different salsas, B) no plates for chips (optional really) and C) not a single refill on my sprite. Overall, I liked it here and was satisfied with my food.

Bad food, dirty, and they still have flies in the middle of winter. Food comes out fast but the restaurant as a whole is very low effort.

Great food. Service is a bit slow but pleasant. Good range of menu items and always a cold beer.

This business makes some seriously good and authentic Mexican street taco's. My carne Asada…read more(Steak) and Al Pastor (pork) taco's were well made and ohhh sooo tasty. From the doubled up corn tortillas, to the tender well cooked meat, cilantro and their wonderful sautéed onions these Street style Taco's are as authentic as anything you would get in Mexico. The gratis house chips and Salsa were equally tasty and a nice complement to the Taco's all being washed down with a sugar cane based Mexican coke. The total bill came in at a very reasonable cost of $12 which is a great value in today's economy and a great deal by any standard. Relative to staff and facility, this appears to be a small family run business where the restaurant itself is located in a small strip mall at the corner of Franklin and Square Lake Rd with an equally small footprint for the restaurant. This is a very unpretentious business (think hole in a wall but in a nice way) with a limited number of dining tables and small staff. Having said that, I had no problem in getting seated and getting my order taken and food brought out in fairly quick order! I have been on a kick for a while now trying to find the best taco joint in the the northern Oakland county area and have to say this is as good as I have come across up to now and am a big fan of this business. If you are into well made authentic Mexican street taco's than this is a must visit for you. This was my first visit here and definately will not be my last where I will be combining this dining venue with my regular Bloomfield Hills Costco trips which is a Quarter mile from the restaurant.

We seated ourselves and were greeted by a server. They had music playing in Spanish, which I loved. They brought out homemade chips and salsa that was absolutely delicious. We ordered the chicken fajitas and the chicken flautas for dinner. After about 15 minutes, we got the sizzling plates. The food was so good! The rice was cooked to perfection, the beans were seasoned well and topped with cheese, all the toppings were cut up in a way to eat them easily. Overall, everything was fresh and tasty. It's our new favorite Mexican food spot. We can't wait to go back!

Excellent Mexican Street taco joint. For my first visit here I ordered two Asada (steak) street…read moretaco's that were very authentic and had only cilantro, both fresh cut and sautéed onions, fresh lime slice on the side, all on top of two fried corn tortillas. The meats was very tender & flavorful, veggies quite fresh and finished product very very tasty. As a cautionary note, the Salsa was probably a medium on the spicy scale and if you like your food mild you may want to ask for the mild salsa that comes with the chips. Other item of note here is the chips and salsa come gratis if you dine in where they were good but not quite at the level as the taco's which were over the top good! Relative to the restaurant and staff, the facility itself has a smallish footprint where there are just two tables and one very long counter with stools for indoor dining. My take of this is that much of the business is probably carryout. Staff was very friendly where you order your food at the counter and they bring it to you if you are dining in the restaurant. there was no table follow up at this point where it really operate as a quasi fast food joint which I was totally OK with, Overall really good food at a very reasonable price (2 steak taco's were $8) where the taco's are some of the best I have had in Metro Detroit. If you are a fan of good authentic Mexican food than this is a business not to be missed.

I finally got to visit Oaxaca after plenty of coworkers and family have been recommending it to me!…read more Oaxaca is located in a small corner plaza in Troy so there is plenty of free parking. Inside there is a small amount of seating, a few plastic tables and bar high top seating. Now to the good part, the food! My table ordered the salsa verde which came with chips, a side of rice, a burrito, and 4 asada(steak) tacos. The salsa verde and rice were okay, I wasn't wowed so I probably wouldn't order them again. But, the main dishes were definitely stand out delicious! The tacos came with a yummy red hot salsa and the seasoning on the steak was great! The portions were HUGE!!! In my opinion this balanced out the higher cost compared to other taco joints in the area. Needless to say, I'll be back!
