Excellent Mexican Street taco joint. For my first visit here I ordered two Asada (steak) street taco's that were very authentic and had only cilantro, both fresh cut and sautéed onions, fresh lime slice on the side, all on top of two fried corn tortillas. The meats was very tender & flavorful, veggies quite fresh and finished product very very tasty. As a cautionary note, the Salsa was probably a medium on the spicy scale and if you like your food mild you may want to ask for the mild salsa that comes with the chips. Other item of note here is the chips and salsa come gratis if you dine in where they were good but not quite at the level as the taco's which were over the top good! Relative to the restaurant and staff, the facility itself has a smallish footprint where there are just two tables and one very long counter with stools for indoor dining. My take of this is that much of the business is probably carryout. Staff was very friendly where you order your food at the counter and they bring it to you if you are dining in the restaurant. there was no table follow up at this point where it really operate as a quasi fast food joint which I was totally OK with, Overall really good food at a very reasonable price (2 steak taco's were $8) where the taco's are some of the best I have had in Metro Detroit. If you are a fan of good authentic Mexican food than this is a business not to be missed.

Pastor Tacos & Chorizo Tacos (with cilantro, onions, and hot salsa on corn tortillas)

Oaxaca is top tier for authentic Mexican tacos (the pastor and chorizo are so flavorful! so addictive! so much better than anywhere else, by far!). It's my fave restaurant in Troy and never lets me down. Service is always nice and speedy. The location has a nifty mural and is kept clean. It's a must visit spot. If you try it, there's a good chance you'll become a regular.

The food was pretty good. Service was excellent! The location is a standard small restaurant in a plaza. We drove from around 40 mins away based on a tik toc we saw. The torta was good, the guac was excellent, the tlayuda was just ok. For the cost of almost 20$ just for the tlayuda they needed to put more meat on it.

    Wall inside restaurant.

Delicious tacos, chips, salsa, rice and beans. We had steak, shrimp and chicken tacos. All around positive experience. Glad we discovered this gem!

Fast and fresh authentic Mexican street food. Service is great as well. We ordered a beef torta, chicken quesadilla, 4 asada (steak) tacos, 2 shrimp tacos, and a large guac with chips. Portions are pretty generous, and flavors are great. Their housemade tortilla chips are thick and crispy. However we like the guac could use some work...maybe more lime and more ingredients, and bigger portions? The large was barely enough for 2. But other than that, we really enjoyed our takeout! Will definitely be back.

Very high expectations based on all the reviews but my order was very meh Shrimp tacos were ok but lacked flavor, steak tacos were dry and also lacked any flavor. Chips were stale. Chicken burrito was filled with rice and beans, just an big soggy mess with absolutely no flavor. Not sure what happened, Taco Bell would have been much better!

They are open for dining in. However it’s a smaller area, similar to a subway layout but smaller.

Does anyone know if Oaxaca is open for carry-out?

    Yes they are!

The server repeated - "Its only one scoop!" I thought there may have been a language barrier - but no - he understood what I was asking - and because it was only one scoop of beans - he was not going to bring the beans that came with my burrito; So, he repeated for a 4th time - "its only one scoop" - as if that qualified why I should be ok with not getting a part of the meal I paid for! What made the experience worse - my beans were not the only thing the server either forgot or just didn't want to bring to the table, But we wanted to order drinks, NOPE! - he didn't bring the Verde salsa, and when we a table of 5 asked for missing items - he showed in tone, facial expression, that he was irritated with our questions for the very things that came with our meals! If you do not eat meat or any animals, please ask what you can eat! They do not have a vegetarian menu. When my food came out, my burrito was covered in cheese. I had one waitress tell me their cheese was not vegetarian, and was mistaken on my end to assume the other server knew I was. I let our waitress know that what I ordered was not what I expected and that I was sorry about it. She let me know what it said on the menu and grabbed it from me, and I apologized again. The manager came out and told me he was sorry, but that something else I ordered (the rice) was also not vegetarian, and asked if I still wanted it. I was given a "new" plate with half of my food scrapped off and a new burrito on it, with rice still under it. Easy to say I lost my appetite. The horchata tastes like it came from a powder mix, and my mother's chicken soup was tough. I don't write reviews like this unless I was genuinely disappointed, which we both were. The food and the vibe was off :(( This is my mom's second time giving this place a shot, she was hoping to have more luck with me there, and they dropped the ball again.

I've…read morebeen coming here for over five years, and at this point, it is one of the only places I'll go when I want tacos because everything else tends to leave me wondering why I didn't just come here in the first place. The tacos are every bit as good as people say and the environment is clean and relaxed, they usually have some good music playing too. Authentic, flavorful, consistent, and made with care. But the birria is the real star for me. Hands down, it is the best birria I've had anywhere in Metro Detroit. Rich, tender, packed with flavor, and exactly the kind of thing you think about again later like it owes you money. The owner is also genuinely one of the sweetest people. He remembered my order after only a few visits, and that kind of personal touch makes the place feel even more special. I usually stick with my Mexican Coke, but I love that they have their liquor license now, because a margarita or Corona with the food is a very solid upgrade. I've brought a bunch of people here and sent a whole handful of others, and everyone has said the same thing. It is some of the best Mexican food they've ever had. One of my friends even said it was better than what he had in California and Mexico, which is a bold statement, but Que Pasa can handle bold statements. Que Pasa is not just good for the area, it is the standard I compare everyone else to. Which is probably unfair to everyone else, but here we are.

Things that worked at Que Pasa: the margaritas were excellent, and all the food we tried (tortas, tacos, burritos, quesadillas) were very good too. Things that need work: there was definitely a language barrier ordering and requesting that they bill our three families separately. They were using a handheld machine for orders and it took three times going over our order before it was finally put in correctly. Although we asked for bills separated, we wound up with one bill, which was too tricky to split up the way they had entered everything, so we paid for everything and had to figure out $ later. Not a major deal, just a nuisance. Also, no AC and the seating was the type of wood that needs shellacking since the shine has worn off and it's sticky. You leave feeling sweaty and sticky, and that's not the way you want to feel on a hot day.

The menu is very traditional, their Beria tacos is amazing, their consume is worthy using for practically anything on the menu! Occasionally, they'll have tamales, and when they are in, they quickly sell out. I know they're not easy to make, so it's a treat when you can get it. The interior is a typical restaurant environment, but the energy and the personality of the staff make it a complete experience. They even serve a lot of traditional Mexican beverages, including that Cane sugar Coke. The real secret is there's a cut-over to a full bodega!
