Food was on point! My wife and I ordered the Carne Asada and Carnitas tacos, and my child had the cheese quesadilla. All of the food tasted great and I would highly recommend the Carne Asada tacos with the mild salsa. Great food at bargain prices. See the pic I took of the menu for all of the prices. Service was good and the staff had masks and gloves on. (Thank you!) Unfortunately, we waited over 40 mins for our food, which is the only reason why I gave it a 4 star rating. Ok...so, I've been up in Leadville for the past 4 days...rolled in late Tuesday. Here for the Leadville 100. As some may already know, Leadville isn't exactly an epicurean Mecca...in fact, there's really only three places here I'd ever recommend to eat at. That said, all three are frigg'en amazing. There's a great pie house here, which I'll be ordering my third dinner from in a about...oh...two hours. Half that pizza will also be strategically placed throughout the courses manana for feed my feed stAtions. Anyway - enough about that crap. This review is supposed to be about the Mexican food truck in the Safeway parking lot. So, I've eaten lunch for the last three days. Their street tacos are insanely delicious. My one bitch about "New Mexican" cuisine is..you always seemingly have to ask for onion....WTF...lol. Here, this ask of you want pico and onion and then they burry those little bastards in it!!! I love that!! Their meats are amazing too. My personal favorite is the red chili carne adobada (sp?). It's beyond addicting...seriously. When you have to wait over 45 minutes at a food truck - you know their food/reputation is top shelf! It's funny to hear some bitch and complain about the wait...lol...I know once they sink their face into their food - all's forgotten. If you ever find yourself in Leadville (my favorite place in all of Colorado) get your arse over to this truck for some amazing Mexican food!!! The best tacos! My son is such a foodie and he swears by their shredded beef tacos! I had the bean and cheese tacos, being a vegetarian, and they were delicious. I had a barbacoa plate with beans & rice. Real, beef cheek barbacoa is rare, and it was a treat finding it outside of Mexico. It was delicious, large portions, only $10, and came with a salad of Mexican condiments and a roasted jalapeno. I've also had a $5 cheeseburger here, and ir was excellent, too. This place is a gem. Completely unexpectedly amazing tacos at such an unassuming spot! I'm writing this review over 2 years after trying this place as it had that much of an effect on our palate! We had several different tacos - the chicken, carnitas, asada, adobada, and barbacoa. All were delicious with the most memorable one being the adobada as we never had it before. There were your standard sauces from what I remember and one that I've never tasted before with an orangish hue and creamy thicker texture - the one that I loved the best. My husband didn't think I would like it as he thought it tasted like ranch. I reluctantly tasted it and instantly loved it as it really didn't taste like ranch dressing to me...it was something way better and more addicting. This place was so good we were even contemplating making the extra drive on our road trip just to come back to this place! Maybe it was the elevation, as Leadville is the city with the highest elevation in the US...maybe it was the beauty of Colorado, or maybe they just flat out make great tacos at this place! This was definitely an unexpected parking lot find but OMG, the tacos trio I got (shrimp, asada, & buche) along with the habanero salsa and horchata totally hit the spot and then some! I've had my share of overrated Mexican food trucks throughout various parts of the US, but this one definitely transported me back to the food stands on streets of Mexico. A taco truck on every corner! The best restaurant in Leadville is actually just a workers' food truck in the parking lot of Safeway. The food is authentic, phenomenal and cheap! They also sell Mexican sodas and real coca-cola in bottles made of sugar. The wait is a bit long as lots of construction workers were placing big orders. The tacos are small so I would order 3 if you're hungry. We had the barbacoa and carnitas tacos and my wife had the chicken quesadilla. Gracias! read more

This is a go to spot for me. I'm not a local there but it's a must stop for me on drives heading out of Aspen. The best, better than many other Mexican restaurants I have eaten at. They put a lot into each item on the menu. I have the chicken torta or the chicken burrito with an horchata that is made from scratch.
