We were advised that this was a place not to be missed. The food is served in large batches. Plenty good, too. The service was good. The staff was working hard to get every order out quickly. Overall (A) This place is a treasure located in the highest city (elevation) in the USA. From the friendly charm of the staff to rustic "dining" area to the delicious bbq this is a must go to place when in town or passing through. I think that the rating should be closer to a 4.3 or 4.5 but I might be a bit of a BBQ snob. Service (A) The staff is super friendly and nice. They did an excellent job explaining the options and providing recommendations. Took a while to pack up my carryout order but they did an excellent job packing it up and took pride in doing a great job. So there is some indoor dining but the outdoor dining is fun. I really like the layout and feel of Moes. Value (A) Seems like a good value - expect to pay between $16-$20 per person. I paid a bit more than that but added ribs. I didn't finish but if super hungry I would have. Quality (A-) The food is really good bbq. Like if I lived close by I would come all the time. And I will visit Everytime I am near by. The cornbread is really really good. The coleslaw was vinegary based. The baked beans are just okay. Was expecting a bit of a stronger flavor. The Bama pulled pork was good as were the ribs. Note the meats were all really good but nothing great. Suggestion - have a sampler platter with all your cuts of meat and two sides. Price it at $24.99 or $29.99. If my math is correct it should drive revenue and profit and introduce customers to different options. If you are in town - I would recommend stopping by and getting some Moes - next time I visit I'm going to try something different. read more

Service is amazing, they have a small indoor space. Beer, sodas, lemonade, tea Ribs were very good, turkey was amazing. Oreo dessert was awesome. The banana pudding didn't seem to have bananas in it and was a little different but it was still good. The cornbread is nice as long as you don't get one that is a little too toasty. The coleslaw was absolutely delicious. And honestly so were the baked beans! Only thing we didn't love was the Mac n cheese. read more

First getting service is exhausting. When asked about the menu you get a person with nose ring mumbling. Not a good first impression. Nothing like someone in a window higher than you and you looking up their nose! When I received the food it was substandard. Dry, tiny portions and little if no taste. No sauce. Who doesn't give extra sauce with BBQ? Definitely a place to skip when in Leadville. Drive to Minturn, Kirby's BBQ will make it worth your while. read more

We stopped in after a visit from Twin Lakes, looking for some good food. We all ended up getting variations of the brisket (which was more like steak), but it was cooked well and tasty. We sat outside and there were lots of dogs out and a band. The beans were some of the best i have had, others raved about the mac and cheese. Food was average for a BBQ place. Very small portions too. A side of beans and potato salad is cheap to make. Come on, give better helpings! The reason I gave them 1star is because of the rude cashier. We tried to order the family meal but she said we couldn't eat it there. The place was almost empty!! It was only to-go but the way she said it was very rude. "You can't eat it here". Then as she was taking our orders and rolling her eyes (yes! She must've rolled her eyes at least twice as we placed our order), she continuously shoveled food in her mouth. It was really gross. We were asked if the food was for "here or to-go". We said here. They gave us the food to go. when my daughter-in-law asked for a tray to put her food on since we were staying in their crummy yard, the cashier rolled her eyes again and gave her the metal tray. We had to ask for the paper to cover the tray after that and she acted like we wanted a sheet of gold! Just a very unwelcoming place. Better places to spend my money on the Main Street. Not sure anything new can be said about the quality and ambiance at Moe's but here goes! In town for the big race and Moe's is situated across from the expo. Easy & convenient choice but it would have been equally a good choice if it was 12mi away and I had to walk all uphill to get here! I went for my 2 Q standards: sausage and pulled pork. The pulled pork was insane! So soft and tender. Perfectly smoked and seasoned! This thing could be in my top 3 pulled pork spots ever! The sausage was equally tasty. Perfectly seasoned. Peppery and the casing had just the right amount of pop. Had Mac and cheese on the side and the banana pudding and let me tell you something: DO NOT WALK AWAY WITHOUT THE PUDDING ON YOUR PLATE! The pudding is perfectly sweet. Has home made nilla wafers on top and bottom and has just enough fresh vainilla so that you can see the grain and not taste it being grainy. Just fantastic! The BBQ was great but the pudding was just unforgettable! I hope you have a chance to eat here, it will not be a disappointment in any way. Ps. Only thing I had a little complaint about was the amount of sausage and Mac and cheese for the sides. It was enough to taste but not enough to savor, or share with anyone at the table. read more

Moe's is a block off the main drag and uphill, but we'll worth it. It's eclectic to say the least as it is not contained within a building. You leave streetside into a gravel lot filled with picnic tables shaded by umbrellas and order at an outbuilding where the sides are cooked and meals plated. There is a small air conditioned self contained room that no one was using because you can't see the 14,000 ft. High peaks if you did. This ambiance. was perfect for what followed. Phillip, the pit boss himself, took our orders and guided us through the comprehensive menu, specials, and unique all homemade sides. He was most welcoming and made friends of us in the first minute. I ordered 6 BBQ ribs with sides of corn-n-yams and banana pudding for desert. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich "Alabama -style" with sides of BBQ beams and Mac-n-cheese. When in Colorado, you order Coors- one light and one banquet. All pork was moist and basted to perfection. Tables are well-equipped with paper towels so dive in. Everything was unique and scoured from each container with crisp corn bread for the ribs and bun remnants from the sandwich. read more

The pulled bbq sandwich I ordered was good. The macaroni & cheese side was less than desirable. It was dried out and not good at all. Should'nt have been served. Also didn't understand why brisket wasn't available on Saturday 9/21/24 at 2pm. I understand it's Leadville and doesn't have a large crowd draw but it really limits the potential this location of Moe's good be. I've been to Moe's in Denver and never been disappointed. I'm from Alabama and know what a good bbq meal should be. I left with my family less than impressed on my first visit to your Leadville location. Also your bbq pit operator was cursing very loudly while having a conversation with another worker out in the picnic table around young kids. This location needs more managerial attention. read more

My go to spot when driving through Leadville! WARNING: THEY DO NOT HAVE CHICKEN WINGS!!! I love me some Moe's - typically I always grab the wings so it's honestly a blessing in disguise that I can't get that at this location so I get a bomb pork sammy instead. This location is a food truck in a lot and there is a bunch of tables outside you can sit and soak in the sun on nice days and there's a indoor seating arena of sorts they have now that you can sit in if you'd like some coverage from weather. Gosh we are lucky to have such amazing barbecue right here in Leadville. The pork and ribs are smoked on site, and absolutely delicious. The sides are all tremendous, though my favorites are the mac & cheese and the baked beans (with little bits of pulled pork mixed in). ooh, and the cornbread! My goodness. I think they add a little butter on top and crisp it in a pan before serving it. The staff are amazingly friendly. Moe's added some indoor seating this season as well to escape the heat or cold, though they still have the outdoor picnic benches as well. The pulled pork was spot on; a little smoky, and a ton of flavor. Another highlight were the beans and banana pudding. Mows is in a vacant lot with a trailer as it's kitchen. Seating at picnic tables or a small enclosed gazebo. They serve all sorts of beers and hard ciders. Highly recommend this place! Warning! We were in Leadville for the bike race and my husband parked in a spot without any NO PARKING signage visible and came upon a Moe's employee taking air out of tire and the worked indicated they had called a tow truck. My husband was dropping off some gear to a friend next door and was parked there less than 10 minutes.Again no signage to indicate that he could not park there. We totally understand the strain of the bike race on the Leadville community but this is beyond unacceptable behavior. Tampering with a vehicle to cause harm is really going deep. I will not be giving Moe's any of our business. And this a warning to all to be aware of malicious intent by their employees. I am upset and disappointed at this extreme reaction. read more

Love the BBQ sauce here, not heavy, you can taste the hickory (if I am right). The ambiance is nice too. They also have some outdoor games to keep our 7 year old busy while we eat.
