The ambiance was nice but they are understaffed and had to turn people away because tables weren't being cleaned. The food was ok. I ordered chicken and waffles but the waffle machine was down lol. I ordered coffee and didn't receive it. My friend ordered tortillas with here breakfast and got white bread instead. I wont be going back. read more

GO TO A DIFFERENT PLACE!! The only reason this isn't a one star is the food is decent but you can tell they just let the food sit in the window too long and the beans are always cold (I reordered them twice because they were cold the first and second time)... This establishment is poorly ran point blank. The waitress is the most inattentive server I have ever had. Im not saying let her go but she's actually one of the worst servers I've ever had. This place is not busy enough to be gone from the table for 20 minutes. It seems like their reputation was built on the past because I don't know how the reviews aren't lower. I had higher expectations for this restaurant. The description says it is a vegan restaurant, but it is definitely not. It is a Mexican restaurant with plenty of meat options, and I don't even think they have any main vegan dishes. The breakfast burrito I got was honestly pretty mid. It was fat and loaded with toppings, but the chorizo did not taste that great, and I usually like chorizo. The sauce was really strong, and I wasn't a big fan of the flavour, but it was really the chorizo that made the burrito not that good. The eggs and tortilla were good. Still giving it an okay rating though because maybe this was some special chorizo that I'm not accustomed to. read more

I used to stop at this place when coming back from skiing. I hadn't been in a while. They must have changed hands. The food was not great and service was slow. I was disappointed. Not one person came to ask me how my meal was not even the manager. I had to flag the waitress down to get my check. A guy sat next me after i had placed my order and had been waiting a few minutes and he got his food before me which i thought was odd. The manger and the other waitress were sitting on their phones doing nothing. They spoke Spanish in front of customers which bothered me. The music was loud and one waitress kept singing out loud. The food was just ok i just wanted a simple burger and fries. They had no onions no pickles no relish. Clearly not an item they are comfortable making. Needless to say i will not be coming back to this place when i am in Leadville. Its sad i used to love this place. read more

We just went for a quick coffee (not pictured) so I don't have much to say or a reason to give it 5 stars. The server was sweet but kinda seemed like she didn't want to be there. The lattes we ordered were okay. I will say, the orange juice was delicious and they had other drink selections such as CBD canned beverages. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The inside is cute! Gives me vintage vibes. I liked that they had different types of alternative milk (oat, almond, etc). And all their pastries are vegan! Would stop by again for breakfast. We also waited for a full hour and never got a single check in or a single drink that we ordered. Waters never even showed up. The Golden Burro cafe in Leadville was the best best and most reliable breakfast cafe for early morning hunters in all of Lake County, but in 2020 was bought by new owners and is now a "Vegan Only" restaurant. To each their own I guess, but definitely lost a lot of customers with this change. As for the food, I'm sure it's good for what it is. The girl that sat us seemed friendly. The Decor really hasn't changed, much. They definitely put some work in updating anything that was worn out in the interior. Sad to see this landmark and historic café change so drastically and alienate it's regular clientele. read more

We had a very confusing experience here. Once we sat down, it took a long time to get a menu. Upon looking at the menu and reading a little more, we discovered this might be a vegan / vegetarian restaurant? There is a small spot that says "plant-based" but come on -- give us some warning. We waited over 40 minutes for our lunch to arrive. I ordered the "chicken" salad Sammie and my partner got the baked potato.... We did not expect it to take this long. When the food arrived, we were quickly disappointed. The baked potato was literally a potato that was slathered in fake, cardboard-like "cheese". It was not real cheese. And the "sour cream" that was served on the side was NOT anything that resembles sour cream. No tofu "bacon" on top for us. It was almost not edible. The sandwich was less than delicious. Overall, really disappointed. We did see a lot of people sit down, look at the menu, and get up to leave. I wish we had done the same before wasting time waiting on subpar food. read more
