    Breakfast Burrito
    Carrie M.

I had higher expectations for this restaurant. The description says it is a vegan restaurant, but it is definitely not. It is a Mexican restaurant with plenty of meat options, and I don't even think they have any main vegan dishes. The breakfast burrito I got was honestly pretty mid. It was fat and loaded with toppings, but the chorizo did not taste that great, and I usually like chorizo. The sauce was really strong, and I wasn't a big fan of the flavour, but it was really the chorizo that made the burrito not that good. The eggs and tortilla were good. Still giving it an okay rating though because maybe this was some special chorizo that I'm not accustomed to.

Friendly efficient service, great food. Try the tasty tacos. Nice old skool diner atmosphere.

We just went for a quick coffee (not pictured) so I don't have much to say or a reason to give it 5 stars. The server was sweet but kinda seemed like she didn't want to be there. The lattes we ordered were okay. I will say, the orange juice was delicious and they had other drink selections such as CBD canned beverages. They have outdoor and indoor seating. The inside is cute! Gives me vintage vibes. I liked that they had different types of alternative milk (oat, almond, etc). And all their pastries are vegan! Would stop by again for breakfast. I'd like to give it a second try and see what I truly think of the food.

We stopped for breakfast on our way through Leadville. The food was excellent! The best Chorizo...so much flavor, no grease! The service was excellent as well. Thank you for a fantastic experience!

Don't let the vegan menu keep you away. Even if you're a meat eater, the food is going to be better than you expect. Service is prompt and pleasant. Whether you're looking for a full meal or just a delicious coffee break with an authentic mountain feel, the Golden Burro will please.

I didn't like this place, the gnocchi taste frozen and it took a long time to get food. If you are in Leadville I would go somewhere else.

From the friendly staff to the delicious pastries, our experience was top-notch. We ordered at the counter where the pastries are displayed. We were able to see exactly what we were ordering. They do offer sandwiches and a variety of beverages, including coffee and tea. However, we opted for water and a sweet treat. The apple pastry was a little too sweet for my taste, but it was enjoyable.

Trying to figure out how to order food, when to sit, how to get a cup of water; is all somewhat complicated and off putting. The upside down Christmas tree really shows how the owners just don't seem to care. It's May, and we have a Christmas tree! The building is architecturally stunning, why not show that off? The decor is simply cluttered and messy. I understand trying to sell the pictures from the local artist, but the way they are displayed really doesn't fit in with the ambience of the restaurant. The food, was also disappointing. Nothing at all elevated like the Timberline next-door. Just simple fair at high prices. They don't even have any gourmet coffee.

They weren't too familiar with the breakfast at the places we mentioned, but one person immediately said, "There's The Little Diner right down the street. It's very good and has even been featured on the Food Network." We decided to give it a try, and we are very glad we did. We arrived around 8:30 in the morning and sat at the counter. At the time we were the only customers there. A very nice lady brought us water and got me a coffee while we looked over the menu. It actually took us a while to decide because there were so many great sounding options. As we sat there deciding, more and more people started coming in. My wife ordered the sausage gravy over a biscuit with eggs and cheese grits, and I ordered the Eggs Benedict with potatoes. When the food arrived, everything looked excellent. The flavors matched the presentation too. My wife said the sausage gravy was outstanding, and my Eggs Benedict was excellent as well. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the potatoes were very good, and the hollandaise sauce had great flavor. While sitting at the counter, we spent some time talking with our server. She told us she had been there since shortly after the diner first opened. Unfortunately, she also explained that the building is scheduled to be demolished so condos can be built above the property, and they are unsure whether the diner will be able to return afterward. It's honestly sad to hear about a place this good possibly being pushed out because of rising development and rental costs. I understand building owners want to maximize profits, but it's disappointing when small local businesses that people truly enjoy are forced out by higher rents and redevelopment. Places like this are what give towns character. Overall, this place was excellent. Great food, friendly people, and exactly the kind of local spot you hope to find while traveling.

You need to find the Lionhead Village parking garage & walk through the shops to get to the building. The signage does not make it easy to find on the upper level. But, we had read that it was a "great breakfast spot" so we took the time to find the pkg garage & walk to the Diner. Having bartended in a previous life, we both feel most comfortable dining at a bar... so we settled in at the bar and patiently waited to be greeted. The server was very involved with another customer, showing them photos (on her phone) and then, while they continued conversing, she brought us waters. While dropping the waters, she asked us "what can I get you to drink?" and without our ready answer, abruptly turned back to the other couple and continued their visit... completely forgetting, I am guessing, that she had even asked us a question. After another 3 minutes of wrapping up their visit, she finally returned, as if she had not left us hanging....and hungry. No "I'm sorry" or "my apologies for the delay", just a question of "what was it you wanted?" Hubby replied that we would like the "fresh squeezed orange juice" and asked if it was squeezed in house. "No, I just work here, I don't squeeze it" and that was how our morning dining experience nearly ended. The VERY FIRST ITEM on your menu touts "fresh squeezed" and it is not the truth???? What else isnt' the truth? Are those "made from scratch" biscuits made in someone else's factory? Anything else need a disclaimer? Having been on the road a bit & being very hungry, and also having decided that this was a diner that we wanted to experience (after a lot of research the night before), we did order. Hubby's breakfast sandwich scored a 7 out of 10 for him, my over medium egg and bacon would have been a delicious 10 had they been a little more up to temp than "barely warm" (they sat under the warming light for over 5 minutes). We were sitting right where we saw our food prepared, in the lovely open kitchen, so we made note of the time lapsed between my plate going to the expo station & his breakfast sandwich being plated. So, food wise...we give this diner a 7. Service wise.... a 1. She never looked our way again after taking our order. I had to literally call out "excuse me, ma'am...could I please get a refill on my coffee?" Our waters were never refilled. She spent her time "working her regulars" and missed out on a potential regular (as we pass by Vail a LOT) and also missed out on 2 very generous tippers. (Having both been in the service industry, we start out at 20% when we sit down and it typically goes up from there. Last night's server was wonderful and he was rewarded for the outstanding service.) This morning's service was abominable and her tip was definitely not 20%. I must say that the cooks' areas were very tidy and clean. I was highly impressed with their stations and give them kudos for that and the perfect preparation of my egg. The diner is so cute, I really wanted to love it. I left very sad that our experience was not a positive one. Last thing...there are placards that ask that patrons help them survive by giving to their Go Fund Me or Venmo account. um......
